Look Again
You look at me observing,
Saying I’m oppressed
My scarf bothers you,
makes you wonder and glare
Like you were in my place and understand,
Like this is oppression,
Some man made justice and back warded reflection
You’re still staring stranger,
My scarf gives you no rest,
I'm staring and smiling wide back at you,
Not a single word of yours,
makes me wanna change my mind
Whatever you say stranger, I do not care
You think you know, hah, that you're so aware
Islam's definition is violence in your book,
Muslim girls with sad looks
Maybe you'd open your eyes, and look at me
Do I seem so strangled in belief?
Have I lost every bit of sanity?
Every time you see me, it makes you think of prison
Still you are shocked to see,
the freedom in my eyes
and the dignity in my walk
You wonder what is this? She’s not for real
Oh yes I am stranger, why doubt?
If I’d be oppressed, I’d shout.
