MaX ThRiLL
STARTS SEPTEMBER 11

The inaugural ICC Twenty20 World Championships takes place in South Africa in September and cricket fans around the globe are already looking forward to what should be an exhilarating event.

With the white ball flying in all directions as batsmen swing the willow with devastating abandon, who could blame them? It’s thrill-a-minute cricket and the ICC has taken the popular decision to bring this game to a world audience.

A Twenty20 game is completed in about three hours, with each innings lasting around 75 minutes, thus bringing the game closer to the timespan of other popular team sports such as football. It was introduced to create a lively form of the game which would be attractive to spectators at the ground and viewers on television and as such has been very successful.

If you don't know, there can't be a Tie in a Twenty20 match :) If the scores are levelled at the end, there will be something like the penalty shootout, where each bowler will bowl at the stumps without a batsman. 2 or 5 balls each, who hits most will win.

^Having pity on them? Just coz they didn't win any yet, you are supporting them? lol.
Did you know if a bowler bowls a foot-fault no ball, the next ball will be a free hit one.
24.2 Free Hit after a foot-fault no ball
In addition to the above, the delivery following a no ball called for a
foot fault (Law 24.5) shall be a free hit for whichever batsman is facing
it. If the delivery for the free hit is not a legitimate delivery (any kind
of no ball or a wide ball), then the next delivery will become a free hit
for whichever batsman is facing it.
For any free hit, the striker can be dismissed only under the
circumstances that apply for a no ball, even if the delivery for the free
hit is called wide ball.
Field changes are permitted for free hit deliveries (the provisions of
clause 41.2 shall apply).

Australia are most likely to win it with the amount of depth in the batting and the bowling to blow any team away.

Inshallah Pakistan atlest reach the semi-finals or if not win it. Pakistan cricket needs a lift with all the problems we have had with the players joing ICL.

Shoaib to be sent home after incident

Shoaib Akhtar's troubled career has taken yet another twist following a decision by the Pakistan board to send him back from Pakistan's 15-man squad for the ICC World Twenty20 after a dressing-room scuffle in which he was alleged to have hit fellow fast bowler Mohammad Asif with a bat.

Nasim Ashraf, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), told Cricinfo the tour management committee had conducted an inquiry into the incident and decided to send Shoaib home.

"The committee made us aware of the incident last night and conducted an immediate inquiry into the event," Ashraf said. "They got their facts and decided Shoaib had to be sent back for allegedly hitting Mohammad Asif with a bat. The board was informed of the decision and we have approved it."

Further action against Shoaib has not been ruled out once he returns. The bowler was already on six weeks' probation following a breach of discipline last month after he left a training camp in Karachi without informing officials. Two hearings were held, after which it was decided that a monetary fine would be suspended pending his behaviour. Ashraf indicated that action would be likely.

"When the team management returns [from the tournament], the board will launch a full investigation and disciplinary hearing into the matter. Further action based on that is likely," Ashraf said.

The sorry development means that Pakistan finds itself in the spotlight at a major international tournament once again for all the wrong reasons. Shoaib and Asif were sent back on the eve of their opening match at the ICC Champions Trophy last year, after they had tested positive for banned anabolic steroids. During the World Cup in March, Pakistan's disastrous performance took backstage to the death of Bob Woolmer.

The decision will be a blow to the team's chances at the tournament, as Pakistan's strength was widely considered to lie in a pace attack that included Umar Gul and Rao Iftikhar Anjum. No decision has been taken yet on a replacement though initial reports suggest Mohammad Sami may be called up. In any case, a replacement will also depend on approval from the ICC's technical committee.

"It is a very sad situation and is a blow not only to the team, but also to the image of the nation," Ashraf admitted.

Though it is too early to say just yet, Shoaib's future must look extremely bleak after this latest incident. He has played one day's Test cricket and only a handful of ODIs since January 2006, missing out through a combination of injuries and the doping scandal. This is merely the latest in a long line of controversies to have dogged his career.

true :hiding:

A tale of intrigue, injuries and incidents

"Cricket should be about fast bowlers, not batsmen," he said. "Spectators like to see fast bowlers running in, hurting people, and pitches that make batsmen struggle for runs.
Thats the kind of Shoaib we all wana see :okay: (not off the pitch though ;D)

Kenya 88/9 in 19.3 Overs, Since Odoyo will not bat - absent hurt - Sri Lanka have wrapped up a massive victory
Sri Lanka won by 172 runs :X
This is the largest victory margin by runs in a Twenty20 game. The previous best was 100 by England against Australia at Southampton in 2005.

Pakistan require another 77 runs with 6 wickets and 50 balls remaining
current run rate's much less than 6.
What a comeback for Pathan, it's early days yet but he's bowled five dot balls and taken a wicket.

Top notch match there!

At 1st glance the Pakis were gonna win. Hmmm Wait a second, they aint scoring much, Indians could have a chance...Afridi's in, a ad too late, but there's stil hope for Pakiyardies. Wait, he's out, India should defo win now...Hmm As if there wern't enough twists, two freshies started swingin the bat like there was no tomorrow, and wahey! Draw the match....

Let's stop there, and not discuss the bowl out:p

Pakistan get Musharraf praise, bonus for Australia win

Pakistan's cricketers received praise from President Pervez Musharraf and a 10,000-dollar bonus each for their win against Australia in the Twenty20 World Cup, officials said.

"The president spoke to captain Shoaib Malik late Tuesday and congratulated him and the team for an outstanding performance," Musharraf's spokesman Major General Rashid Qureshi told AFP.

Pakistan upset Australia by six wickets in a group F match of the Super Eights on Tuesday to virtually seal a semi-final place in the Twenty20 world championships being played in South Africa.

"The team's performance has made the country proud," Qureshi quoted Musharraf as telling Malik, who put on a century partnership with Misbah-ul Haq in the match.

Musharraf, who is also patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board, hailed the team's "very spirited performance and praised Malik's leadership and how well the seniors and juniors in the team have gelled as a unit," Qureshi said.

Pakistan's second win in the group has left them needing a point in the last match against Bangladesh in Cape Town on Thursday to move into the last four.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has also announced a cash reward of 10,000 dollars for each player following the victory, a spokesperson said.

Wahooo!!! Way to go India :) loll

India 208/3 (19.2/20 ov)
England
India won the toss and elected to bat first
18.6 Broad to Yuvraj Singh, SIX, and he has, Yuvraj leans back and smacks that over wide mid-on ... it was the maximum from the moment it left that bat and the crowd were roaring as it flew
Broad looks like a man who knows he is about to be mauled again ...
Broad looks quizzical ... and miserable. Can he ... can Yuvraj do it ...
18.5 Broad to Yuvraj Singh, SIX, down on one knee and larruped over midwicket, that one was more nine iron, it went into the night sky and dropped with a thud in the jubilant crowd ...
England have a team meeting. Shuffling deckchairs on the Jolly Roger though ...
18.4 Broad to Yuvraj Singh, SIX, Shiver me timbers!: Broad goes round the wicket, bowls a filthy wide full toss and Yuvraj steers it over backward point and it clears the rope again
18.3 Broad to Yuvraj Singh, SIX, he's hitting them everywhere, he steps to leg and smashes the ball over extra cover and it keeps on travelling ... the fireworks start on top of the scoreboard ... they've been going off in the middle for some time
18.2 Broad to Yuvraj Singh, SIX, now that really is sweet, no more than a dismissive flick off his legs, swatting a fly, and the ball arcs deep into the crowd beyond backward square leg
The dodgy TV measurement says that's 111 yards ... but as it landed outside the ground how the whatsists do they know? They guess, that's how.
18.1 Broad to Yuvraj Singh, SIX, that's out the ground, super shot over cow corner and it just kept going up

Now, that made my day :D lol. poor Broad :offended: ;D

India 218 from 20 overs
England made 200 from 20 overs..

Yuvi hit 6 6 6 6 6 6 ....a World Record in T20I ... Poor Broad was the Bowler but the Catalyst -which encouraged Yuvi was the bad words from Flintoff(silly flintoff) who was irritatin Yuvi.... just before the start of Broad's over...

Six 6s was the reply from Yuvi To Flintoff's badwords...

Another World Record was that....
Yuvi made 50 from just 12 balls.... ha hahaa..

Yep, they managed 200. Wasn't a satisfying victory for Indians. But anyways, they still got higher net run rate than New Zealanders. Just a win today will ensure a berth in Semis for indians. Else they are out.

Yes. Aus and Pak from that group.
from Group E it'll be South Africa[unless there's a miracle tonight lol] and If india beats SAF, India goes to Semis, else New Zealand will move ahead.

If Pak now beats Bangladesh, semis will be like these:

First semi final: Sat 22, 11 GMT
Pak Vs India/New Zealand

Second semi final: Sat 22, 16 GMT
AUS Vs SouthAfrica

If Pak loses to bangladesh, it'll be:

First semi final: Sat 22, 11 GMT
Aus Vs India/New Zealand

Second semi final: Sat 22, 16 GMT
Pak Vs SouthAfrica

1.30 pm local time Welcome to Cricinfo's coverage of the second match of the Cape Town double-header. Pakistan are taking on Bangladesh with not much at stake in terms of progress in the tournament.

Pakistan are through to the semi-finals but will want to use this match to give their top-order batsmen, and Shahid Afridi, some quality time at the crease. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be heading home so lets hope they leave South Africa after one last free-spirited batting display.

Bangladesh 140 (19.4/20 ov)

Not much to show for Bangladesh from that innings barring Junaid Siddque who made 71 in his first game in the tournament. Bangladesh didn't even last their quota of 20 overs.

It's now up to Pakistan to chase down this score and you've got to think they'll do it with some ease. That chase begins in about 20 minutes and it will be George Binoy to call the first half of that innings.

A few people are having a giggle but Nazir's on the ground in some pain. He's walking off the field now.

5.6 Syed Rasel to Shahid Afridi, SIX, and he has! Afridi stays in his crease, frees his arms and smashes a full ball over long-on for six, that's a huge hit

Salman Butt is the new batsman but the batsman crossed before the catch was taken. Afridi will face the last ball of the fielding restrictions. Can he make it count?

5.5 Syed Rasel to Mohammad Hafeez, OUT, caught at long off! Hafeez gets under a full delivery and lofts towards long-off, he hasn't hit it with enough power to clear the boundary and Tamim Iqbal takes a simple catch near the boundary line
[dont matter it all good, we got afridi!]
Mohammad Hafeez c Tamim Iqbal b Syed Rasel 23 (23m 21b 4x4 0x6) SR: 109.52

5.4 Syed Rasel to Shahid Afridi, 1 run, driven off the front foot to long-off

5.3 Syed Rasel to Shahid Afridi, FOUR, another boundary, this time he goes back towards the off side and plays a short-arm pull through square leg, there's no-stopping that

5.2 Syed Rasel to Shahid Afridi, 2 runs, this time he backs away towards leg and throws his bat at a full delivery on off stump, he slices it over backward point but the fielder gives chase and hauls it in just inside the boundary

5.1 Syed Rasel to Shahid Afridi, FOUR, Afridi moves towards the off once again and swats the ball over square leg, the ball slows up after pitching but still has enough legs to reach the boundary

Such a good over Mashaa Allaah! :D

Bangaldesh will be so relieved to see the back of Afridi, never mind that it's Younis Khan who is walking in.

6.6 Abdur Razzak to Shahid Afridi, OUT, caught! Afridi moves on to the back foot and tries to play a delicate late cut, Razzak bowls one flat and quick and forces a thick outside edge that is taken sharply by Mushfiqur
Ouch!!!!!!! :X

8.2 Abdur Razzak to Younis Khan, 1 wide, OUT, stumped off a wide, excellent reflexes from Mushfiqur, Razzak fired one down leg side, Younis Khan tried to turn it behind square but missed, he over-balanced and lifted his back leg and in the split second that he needed to get back into his crease, Mushfiqur had whipped off the bails

there's a difference ;D

im happy for india, but one thing i can never ever stand about indian supporters is the way they get so prouddddddddddd (im mainly talking about the presenters on indian channels ) they talk as if theyre the best team in the world and no one can never beat them lol. and then when india lose they treat the team like their worst enemiess!
