Martin Mubanga,
a joint citizen of both the UK and Zambia, was arrested in Zambia in 2002. He spent over two and a half years in captivity at Guantanamo until his release in January 2005. Martin is currently working as a personal trainer as well as studying for a degree in physiotherapy.

Asim Qureshi is a lawyer specialising in international human rights law currently working as a researcher and investigator for the NGO Cageprisoners. His work has led him to countries such as Pakistan, Kenya, Sweden, Bosnia and the US where he has encountered many abuses of detainees.

Cageprisoners (www.cageprisoners.com) was established in October 2003 to raise awareness of the plight of the caged prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, and elsewhere, through effective legal means.

HHUGS
(www.hhugs.org.uk) was setup in September 2004 by the efforts of the local community in response to the increasing number of 'anti-terror' arrests across the country. HHUGS provides practical support and advice to households devastated by the arrest of a family member.

Presentations by Cageprisoners and HHUGS will be played during the course of the day. Bookstalls will be present.

NOTE: We recommend that you book in advance, as many people were turned away at the door last year . You are highly encouraged to make alternative arrangements for children wherever possible, in order to fully benefit from the talks. Book a date with us, and come away from an iftaar this Ramadhan with some food for thought.

VENUE CHANGE

Due to various circumstances the Brady Centre is not available for our iftaar.

Please note the change of venue; the rest of the details, (date, time etc) are unchanged.

Venue: Froud Centre,
Romford Road (on the corner with 1 Toronto Avenue),
Manor Park, London E12 5JF

Please spread the word. We would hate for some poor souls to be waiting in vain outside the Brady Centre on the day.
