View Full Version : Rare "PINK DOLPHIN" Photos

This extremely rare and beautiful "pink dolphin" was spotted and photographed by Capt. Erik Rue of Calcasieu Charter Service on June 24th, 2007 during a charter fishing trip on Calcasieu Lake south of Lake Charles, LA.

It appears to be an uncanny freak of nature, an albino dolphin, with reddish eyes and glossy pink skin. It is small in comparison to the others it is traveling with and appears to be a youngster traveling with mama. After spotting the beautiful mammal cruising with a pod of four other dolphins, Rue and his guests Randy and Peyton Smith and Greg and Sam Elias of Monroe, LA idled nearby while watching and photographing the unusual sight for more than an hour.

Our expectations are high that we will see this amazing mammal again as it was in an area frequented by the gentle mammals and one confirmed report has it being spotted at least a month earlier in a nearby location. If it does turn up again, it will be a welcome surprise to our guests.

Albinism is present in lots of places. A genetic condition affecting pigmentation.

It can affect mammals (humans included), fish, birds, reptiles....

Just type "Albino" or "Albinism" into a search engine - you'll find loads of info & photos, it's really fascinating.

Maybe you misunderstood me - I was only trying to highlight how amazing it is!

But what about all your Brothers & Sisters with careers in Science, Medicine, or similar areas, do you think that they do not believe in science?

For example, I believe PurestAmbrosia is greatly knowledgable in, and perhaps works in, medicine (PA correct me if I'm wrong), which of course incorporates science in fairly large-scale quantities...?

I have gathered from previous posts that Muslims take science and religion as going hand in hand.... or am I wrong?

i see what you mean but our culture has different perception of things i was not trying to be hostile i was only stating how i see the situtation, and islam is a refelection of itself muslims arent an example of it humans have flaws and sometimes bend to temptation while al islam is 100% un deniably and un refutably perfect , its made that way by Allah(SWT). but i dont say all this to fight with you or attack you its just some things from your side of the spectrum cant be understood and its not your fault you are who you are and i am who i am.

Nice photos but I can’t make up my mind if they are real, or if some clever dude has been monkeying around with his digital camera and computer.

If you check out this thread here

http://www.islamicboard.com/puzzles-...fake-foto.html

you will find it is hard to spot the difference between a real photo and computer graphics.

I think the cute little pink dolphin appeared due to pollution :-[ Yesterday the doctors in genetics discovered the genes are responsable for cancer and this genes can favour the cancer disease when that person live in polluted area or its smoking.

Such a beautiful animal!

I have no reason to believe that the photos are not authentic. Genetic mutations that cause albino do so through interference in production of skin, hair and eye pigmentation. We normally think of albinos as being white, but I imagine that the pink coloration is due to semi-transparency of the skin giving a hint of the red coloration of the underlying muslce and blood vessels. A key observation is that albinos have pink eyes due to lack of iris pigmentation.

the reason why i dnt believe this pink dolphin is a 'real' one is because its with a 'grey' dolphin!

i mean i know pink dolphins exist.....but they would usually be with their gang.......u wont find one pink one in the middle of a grey crowd...lol...

as for all girls wanting everything pink....why not? ....imagine a baby pink lion ...or hot pink tree......or even a pink ocean....wow.....

If you are one in a million, who do you swim with?
Besides dolphins are not racial biots.

Albinism is genetic. So although it's very rare, it is possible to form packs:
