Here's what the world said

The hilaal of Ramadaan has not been sighted anywhere around the world, so we will complete the 30 days of Sha’baan.
Hence the 1st day of Ramaadaan will be Thursday, September 13th, 2007.
So 13th was the first day of Ramadan or the 31st day of sha'ban but certainly not the 30th of sha'ban, unless your little community got it's own lunar calendar?

I just looked at the poll and see some ppl started the 14th, friday. That's completely impossible. if someone had seen the moon then it would've been Wednesday the earliest. But if no one saw the moon then you have to complete the month and last time i checked, sha'ban had 30 days. So these shura councils of the north and the executive committees of your masjid/islamic center that said we start Friday are completely messed up. You don't even have to be a scholar to use the logic that Friday can't be the first of Ramadan. That's the problem with these executive committees, rather then managing the masjid they wana run the islamic matters of the community as well, to which they have NO qualifications at all and all religious matters should be left to the Imaam only.

Bro Islamirama...

September 11th(28th Sha'ban) - evenin was the full moon day...

On September 12th(29th Sha'ban) evenin... we couldn sight the new moon... no where ...

Its obvious that the new moon is born... but on the new moon day the moon will not be visibile at all.. that what happens most of the time.. so we were unable to sight the moon....

So September 13th(30th sha'ban)... no fast...

Thus 14th September was the First Day of Ramadhan.....
