the other day when it was suhoor, the time fajr had eneterd, but my mum was still eating. i told her that it is not permissible to eat after fajr has ended, and she quoted the ayah
2.187 and eat and drink, until the white thread of dawn appear to you distinct from its black thread; then complete your fast Till the night appears.
she thinks you can stop eating when the dawn appears. like sunrise.
so who is in the right and who is in the wrong.

please use authentic evidences. and please, i need this quick.

:sl: Sorry for the late reply... you are right... you eat until the adhaan of fajr, this is what is meant by the black/ white thread being distinguishable. The calendar is something that the muslim community you live put as a guide to make it simple for the community to know the time to stop eating. go to www.islamonline.net for the proof:w:
