This was part of our research in medical history 3 years ago, it was about Arabic civilization in the Islamic era .. this part is about the impact of the Arabic language on other languages:

European languages have certain words, which indicate the influence of Arab civilization on European life through social contact, subordination or commercial exchange. These words are not mere additions to the vocabulary of the two languages. As matter of fact, they indicate the way of Arab life, which colored the structure of life in these or other countries. These words show the difference between the living conditions of European nations before and after their contact with Arab civilization.
So Modern European languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and English owe a great debt to Arabic. The English language itself contains many words borrowed from Arabic: algebra, alchemy, admiral, genius, ghoul, mare sherbet, soda and many others.

COFFEE, CAFE * QAHWAH
(Coffee, originally wine)

SAFARI * SAFARA
(To travel)

TAMBOURINE * TUNBUR
(A drum)

SANDAL * SANDAL
(Arab skiff or type of sandal)

LUTE * AL'OUD
(The lute)

TARIFF * TA'RIF
(Declaration)

SUGAR * SUKKAR
