as long as u dnt swallow....

it is part of ritual ablution...we cant run away from it...

the washing of the mouth isnt fard though...it is sunnah...meaning our prophet pertained to this practice throught his life...and he was fasting all throughout his life...

you must be careful to not swallow any water...

peace.

Yes you can...but you make sure that when you're fasting...you don't wash your mouth and nose as intensely as you would do any other day..this is to minimise the risk of swallowing the water. There was a Hadeeth on it but I can't find it...Allaahu A'lam

One should exaggerate17 in rinsing the nose, except those who are fasting. Laqeet ibn Sabirah’s () father said: “O Messenger of Allâh, tell me about wudoo´. So he answered: Perform a perfect wudoo´, run your fingers between the fingers of your hands and your toes, and exaggerate in rinsing your nose, unless you are fasting.” (Saheeh ibn Khuzaimah)

17 By inhaling water far up in to the nose.

im also wondering, lets say that someone has the flu. well you know when you have the flu, you get the mucous that you cough out from your lungs (atleast that's where i think it comes from), well is one allowed to swallow that. keeping in mind that it comes from the lungs, as opposed to saliva, which comes the from the mouth
