Salamualikum.
Well it's just smiller to writing a C.V
Main points to include:
1) Why you want to work there
2) What will you provide them
3) Detail about your self
4) How you found out about the placement you want to work in.
Don't worry about it...
Just start of by saying something like this.
Dear ...... (Headteachers name),
I am writing to know if there is any work experience placements which be held ...........
I will be very happy to work in ... (whatever school) because i have the .......
I would be delightful to work with young pupils......
Somethign like that

Salamualikum.
Main point
REMEMBER to know the layout of the letter.
Write
your address on top first in
left hand corner then
The user's address on
left hand corner.
Leave
one line out and write date like in
full along with
2007.
Then leave
one line and write 'Dear....' and after the name do a
comma.
Always keep your letter in good
shape and
neat.
Remember to end with
'yours sincerely' and then leave
5 spaces for hand written signiture.
You can always do it on Computer.
Maybe you want to look at some examples to help you out.

you have to write your essay, then give it to an editor to make it chic for a fee!
if you have no thoughts whatsoever on what you want, you can work with an editor putting some ideas down and then they'll fix it for you -- you can see examples of before and after to get an idea of how they work.. I have seen their work, it is really awesome.. my sister just re-did her resume and cover letter with them.. it is an excellent site, all their editors are professionals from Harvard.. You might want to call them and inquire about their services before you jump in head first?
