It reminds of maalfuzat of sh Ashraf Ali Thanwi ra. He would instruct his disciples to hide their good deeds from people as it entails show-off

Fard deeds are more virtuous if they are done on the open like fard Salah in congregation -jamat , zakat, haj etc

Some deeds like sadaqa given hidden to the needy who are shy to ask without them being exposed carry double rewards & so are nafl prayers & the stressed sunnah of a Muhmin thajjudh and isthigfar repentance etc.
