RACISM BOOED OFF STAGE IN AMERICA

DesertPeace - Piss on racism! That's essentially what the students at Emory University had to say to David Horowitz and his 'message' of Islamo-Fascism.

His message is not wanted nor are his attempts to spread hatred using the university as a tool for this.

Fox News taped the incident at Emory... it can be seen below...

In which case if everybody just stayed at home, and he was lecturing to an empty theater, he would soon stop doing it.

I sympathise with the students feelings, of course, but nonetheless it is rather ironic that turning up just to shout someone down is a pretty 'fascist' tactic itself.

I take political news from non-US media unless its someone like www.counterpunch.com

and i take religious info from religious sites that are known to be authentic and reliable and not some google site like some ignorant nobody here keeps ranting.

and as for youtube, it is nothing more than video tapes info from horse's mouth. I rather go there and watch the video uploaded there by someone from pakistan and listen to actual words and testimony of the women of lal masjid (or whoever) then be some dummy and listen to whatever crap they feed you in your media and come parroting it here making a fool of yourself.
... And I am supposed to be the ignorant nobody so don't try to nick my title for yourself which you so graciously bestowed upon me only yesterday

hola,

i do not know who David Horowitz is... and i am usually weary to pass judgment on people who criticize religions or ideas since it is important to do so and it does not necessarily matter their motivations, BUT that said i think the term islamofascism is patently offensive... i think any reasonable person could see why muslims would be offended. and academic discussions should be conducted in civilized and polite manners, with careful attention paid to consideration toward the person with whom you are discussing a given topic. there is no need for civilized intelligent people to alienate each other.

David Horowitz is...
Chip Berlet, writing for the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), identified Horowitz's Center for the Study of Popular Culture as one of 17 "right-wing foundations and think tanks support[ing] efforts to make bigoted and discredited ideas respectable". Berlet accused Horowitz of blaming slavery on "'black Africans … abetted by dark-skinned Arabs'" and of "attack[ing] minority 'demands for special treatment' as 'only necessary because some blacks can't seem to locate the ladder of opportunity within reach of others,' rejecting the idea that they could be the victims of lingering racism."[49] Responding with an open letter to Morris Dees, president of the SPLC, Horowitz stated that his reminder that the slaves transported to America were bought from African and Arab slavers was a response to demands that only whites pay blacks reparations, not to hold Africans and Arabs solely responsible for slavery, and that the statement that he had denied lingering racism was "a calculated and carefully constructed lie." The letter said that Berlet's work was "so tendentious, so filled with transparent misrepresentations and smears that if you continue to post the report you will create for your Southern Poverty Law Center a well-earned reputation as a hate group itself."[50] The SPLC refused,[37] and subsequent critical pieces on Berlet and the SPLC have been featured on Horowitz's website and personal blog.[51][52]
Tim Wise, self-described "anti-racist essayist, lecturer and activist" criticized[53] Horowitz in the left-wing publication, Znet for associating with alleged racists, pointing to his acceptance of funding from the Bradley Foundation, which supported the publication of The Bell Curve, as well for running a modified piece by white nationalist Jared Taylor on the media treatment of black-on-white murders. When Horowitz ran the piece, he admitted that the decision to do so would be controversial, but denied that Taylor was a racist, instead arguing that his "racialism" was an example of identity politics precipitated by an intellectual surrender to multiculturalism; Horowitz denied that he and his publication share Taylor's agenda.[54]

David Horowitz is a clown and the more he opens his mouth, the more he exposes to people the foolish man he is.

David Horowitz is mainly about one thing, and that is showing the hypocrisy of the left-wing college campus. People who claim to be all about free speech, but do everything they can to silence opinions that they don't agree with. Not saying I agree with Horowitz either, but he has a right to voice his opinion just as the other side does.

He has the right to state his opinion not spread hatred and bigotry. Nor does he have the right to force others to listen to him, these students exercised their rights and showed he's not wanted on their campus to spread his hatred and propaganda.

How does Horowitz "force" anyone to listen to him? He gives lectures that you choose to attend. These people choose to attend to disrupt the lecture. That is abridging free-speech. Horowitz's opinions are no different than those you post on this forum daily. They just happen to be the opposite side of the coin.

If I don't like the look of a lecture, I usually don't give it the light of day.

Though, it's usually more to do with its timing than any political issues. Commuting sucks nuts.

You can barge in anywhere you want to force your ideas on others. He seemed to enjoy running from univ to univ to spread his hatred and narrowmindedness. The students there represent the university. They came to see what he had to say, and AFTER they started listening they realized what he was preaching and they were not interested in buying that crap. And thus you had the whole audience slowly one by one go against him and basically told him to "get the hell off our campus". I"m actually surprised and happy to say these students are so brave and open minded to stand up and reject such hatred and falsehood preaching.

This shows how little you actually know about how the lecture circuit fucntions. Members of the student body invite lecturers to come and give a speech. These people are paid to do so. Sometimes by the university, and sometimes by other means. My bet would be the conservative student groups on campus invited Horowitz to give a lecture. Those students on the left, who make a habit of interrupting free speech on campus, chose to attend knowing full well what the speech was about. Nobody is asking anyone to agree with Horowitz, but free speech goes both ways. That is the point.

This shows how much you actually know also buddy. There are not always invitations. Some do offer requests to come to your campus and give a lecture or two. Their request is accepted and they are paid for their time. The students came to see what he had to say. IF you watch the whole videos, you will see all of them were sitting quitely and listening. When the bigot started sprewing his hate, they started to stand up against him few at a time till the whole crowd didn't want him there. How are a few "free speech interrupter" there when majority of the audience is standing against him. Are you going to say now that most of the "speech oppressors" dominated the room? He came and he talked, they listened and the didn't like it, so they told him to shut up. You would do the same if someone came to your home.

You must be the keeper of ALL knowledge.

You always claim that you know and no one else does.

How is that?

So you believe Horowitz just walked into the ampitheatre and started talking? Of course not, he was invited by conversative student groups. The type of people that attend lectures already know who and what David Horowitz is. He had given the same speech at other universities across the country.

And you failed to understand that not all lectures are invited. some are invited and some request for an audience. So unless you can show he was invited, i'd like to think he extended his request to be there. Which seems more logical because he seems to be going from one univ to another spewing his hatred, and i doubt he's getting all those invitations across the usa. Unless you think america is full of bigots like him and are giving him invitations left and right?

Well, it may not last long, but here is a list of scheduled speakers as part of the "Islamofascist Awareness Week"...

http://www.terrorismawareness.org/is...r-of-speakers/

As you can see, there are some very popular speakers on this tour, and they don't do it for free.

I was surprised to see Rick Santorum on the list of speakers...
