View Full Version : Are we the civilized, modernized, well developed people?

Assalamu Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

We have studied the natural laws, but neglected our inner self.
We can produce light out of atoms, but our hearts are full of darkness.
We have the advanced weapons, but why do we only use them against innocent women & children?

We have natural resources, enormous bounties; but why are thousands of people dying out of hunger?
We have technology, equipments; but why millions of people don't have enough clean water to drink?
We are trying to find life in other planets, but why are we not taking care of our own planet (environment)?

We are claiming to be peace-keeper, but are we not the ones causing destruction?

We treat our parents like we are their parents, but we forget about how they raised us, when we could not even stand?

We are wasting money on smoking, drinking, gambling, but do we care about the orphans?

We have luxuries, but why are we still searching for satisfaction?

We have harnessed enormous energy out of tiny little atoms, but have we tried to realize the might of our Creator, who created everything in the universe?

We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers.
Wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more, but have less.
We buy more, but enjoy it less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families.
More conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees, but less sense.
More knowledge, but less judgment.
More experts, but more problems.
More medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, and spend too recklessly,
Laugh too little, drive too fast, and get too angry too quickly,
Stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little,
Watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life;
We've added years to life, not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.
We've conquered outer space, but not inner space;
We've done larger things, but not better things.
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We've split the atom, but not our prejudice.
We write more, but learn less;
We plan more, but accomplish less;
We've learned to rush, but not to wait;
We have higher incomes, but lower morals;
We have more food, but less appeasement

We build more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication.

We've become long on quantity, but short on quality.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion; tall men, and short character; steep profits, and shallow relationships.

These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare; more leisure, but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition.

These are days of two incomes, but more divorce; of fancier houses, but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw away morality, one-night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

Many nations, civilizations have passed before us. They were also very advanced at their times. How different are we from them, in morality?

It did not take long for Allah, the God, to destroy them. What happened to the people of Noah, Ad, Thamud, Sodom , Gomorrah , Pharoh etc?

gracias,

i think the biggest trap that people can fall into is self righteousness. Jesus warned that there is not one good person... when we start to think of ourselves as righteous, civilized, well developed et cetera that is when we forget to watch out for our inner barbarian... sneaking in through the back door.

Lool!

JazakAllah khair mod brother,

the Messenger of Allah (salallahu Alayhi Wassalam) said,

"Undoubtedly Allah has removed from you the pride of arrogance of the age of Jahilliyah (ignorance) and the glorification of ancestors. Now people are of
two kinds. Either believers who are aware or transgressors who do wrong. You are all the children of Adam and Adam was made of clay. People should give up their pride in nations because that is a coal from the coals of Hell-fire. If they do not give this up Allah (Subhana Wa ta'ala) will consider them lower than the lowly worm which pushes itself through Khara(dung)." [Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi]

AsalamuAlaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
