I'm curious to know why many of the scholars say that listening to music is haraam? Most of them give this reason that music provokes irrational behaviour or gets people excited, etc . . .

I personally don't listen to any woman singers, becuase I know that's haraam, but listening to music has become a habit for me. Most of the time I don't even listen to it intently. It's just some noise in the background. Is this still a problem?

I just wanted to know what everyone else thinks about this matter.
