I read a hadith one which I can't verify so pls don't ask me for a reference (back in the olden days when I used to read for fun --sigh--) I never made a mental note of which volume or which number, but I digress..
it was a story of an ignorant man who used to make idol gods for worship and every day call upon it (ya sanam) sanam in Arabic means idol
صَنَم اســــــــــــم وَثَن

well one day he made a mistake and called (ya samad) instead, which is the name of Allah to mean
the eternal
صَمَد اســــــــــــم الصَّمَد : اللَّه the Eternal

So God turned to him to answer his prayer..
well the angels asked why, he answered the call of this man who worships idols, he said, I have been waiting for the day my servant calls out to me, and today he did..
Anyhow I can't verify this, but I love it, and it certainly gives one the incentive to call upon God with his many beautiful names
peace!
