Assalamu aliykum,

I was hoping that my brothers and sisters could help me. I want to break my habit of listening to hip hop and rock music but I am having a hard time. I would like to replace what I listen to with nasheed's but I can't find many that I like. I have found a few such as Asad Al Fallujah and some that are on jihad video's coming out of Iraq that I really love. Please drop links in this thread that I can download so I can replace a bad habit with a good habit. I ask Allah for forgiveness for all of us and may we be guided and saved from the darkness of our sins. Ameen.

Wa salaam,

Salah

I've heard of Native Deen before. And I have some Soldiers of Allah, MPAC, and others that I listen to. But what I am finding I like is nasheeds that are more upbeat. I have heard some of these on jihad video's that I have seen coming out of Iraq and I loved them.

Well I dont know about upbeat, but Dawud Wharnsby has always been my fav. He's a Canadian revert and used to be a musician, but now focuses his efforts into nasheeds with an islamic theme. They are in the nasheeds section load-islam.com or you can go to www.radioislam.com and click on Melodies at the top of the page.

Hope that helps.

If you really want to rid your soul of music and so forth, I advise you to completely abandon music altogether, as in Nasheeds and Kufr music. Some Nasheeds claim to uphold islamic merit, however, they at times imitate the kufr (adding instruments and so forth) making that nasheed, Haraam! Examples would be; 786, Soldiers of Allah, and Sami Yusuf.

"But there are, among men, those who purchase idle tales (Music, singing etc), without knowledge (or meaning), to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and throw ridicule (on the Path): for such there will be a Humiliating Penalty." 31:6

Remember my brothers and sisters "Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest!" 13;28 and where can we connect with Allah the most? The HOLY QURA"AN!

So I encourage you my dear brothers and sisters to shut off our so called ''islamic'' songs and open the pages of the most Nobel of books. Turn up the volume on the great recitations of the Quran provided by the gifted ones.

"When the Qur'an is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace: that ye may receive Mercy." 7:207

Indeed we are in need of Allah's Mercy.

May Allah guide us to the straightest of paths. Ameen!

as salaamu alykum
brother i used to be one of the biggest hip hop fans ever
one day when i found out music is haram i stopped listening to it
it was very easy to avoid music at first but the songs ringing bak in my head and tht was very hard to get rid off
but alhamdulilah i did although most of the song lyrics still ring in my head, i try my best to be the best i can as a muslim
and i found out so far tht there r 2 ways u can stop doing bad things

1.the persuasive method: u can persuade urself to stop listening to music

2.the scary method:u can read the hadiths n stuff tht say the punishment for those who listen to music while neglecting the duty of Allah

for me the thing tht stopped my music listening spree was the persuasive method but later on when i got tempted to listen to music i had to use the second method cuz it was the only way to convince me to stop listening to music

okay now dont think im loonie or something just cuz i convince myself by scaring myself on purpose:p

heres wht u shud do
recite the quran everytime ur music temptation comes
then recite it again loudly so u can hear ur own recitation very clearly
then after tht go to this site

http://english.islamway.com/bindex.p...&recitor_id=17

or this site

http://english.islamway.com/bindex.p...&recitor_id=28

and listen to those 2 dudes recite the quran
when i first listened to Sheik Su'ud Shuraim (the first link)
i almost cried, u cud see tears in my eyes u know

neways try ur best to listen to the quran n go online n read books about the harms n danger of music

tht is the best i can help
thanx for takin the time to read all this
peace be upon u

ps.
u can try to make one of the links above ur home page cuz if its ur home page then it might help u more
:)

I request people to not just hand out fatwas, as that does not help.
