View Full Version : Growing Pains...

Imagine you are a fetus. You are trapped in a warm, dark, and perhaps spacious and comfortable environment. All of a sudden you notice you are growing large. You complain: No, I like it to be spacious. But no one listens, and you keep on growing. Then you notice a painful process of getting these extra things called eyes. Water goes in them, and you hurt. You scream: What is this? I don't need this. Stop it now. But no one listens and your eyes grow to completion. Then you notice this lenghty process of getting these things called arms and legs. What a discomfort, you think to yourself. I don't need these accesories which get trapped and stop me from freely floating around. But no one listens, and your extremities grow to completion. But all along one voice keeps on reading to you: Hush. You don't know. But trust me you will need this someday. You see that voice doesn't tell you of a world outside the womb, for you can't imagine it. You can't imagine what light is, so it doesn't bother telling you how you will need eyes. It just tells you why you need them. You can't imangine walking, and talking, and smelling, and feeling. So it doesn't bother tell you how.

But, one day you come out, needing the same capacities that you hated to see grow in you. Imagine, somebody listening to this fetus, and stopping the growth of its eyes. It will never see, thus will never grasp that part of the reality which manifests itself in a manner that can be seen. Never will it know the beauty of the ocean or colors in a garden, nor the glory of a sunset. If it stoped growing ears, it shall never hear the melody of waves crashing against the coast, nor the horror of the thunder.

So is the hidden process of growing invisible parts of our souls, which are often gained with pain, through losses, failures, humiliations, and sufferings. Some growth comes with ease, comfort, joy, and peace. Yet those capacities you need the most are earned painfully. So your soul must grow eyes through which it could see those manifestation of Reality that can be only seen with the vision of soul. To have vision of soul, you must be ready for the pain that it will require to grow eyes. The choice is yours, eternal blindness, or a the pain of growing eyes.

And as to the concern of why so much delay in the process: well, every organ of your soul must grow in the time slot it is allowed to. Otherwise it will have a shape with organs that are under or over developed, incapable of performing the duties they are created for.

Be patient, and have trust in the Source of all. :loving:

Salaam o 'alykum warahmatulahi wabarakatuh.

masha Allaah! subhan Allaah. i really liked that sis, because it may seem simple but this leads to another subject - we feel all these pains of our eyes growing, our arms spreading out etc. we dont even know why this is happening to us and we get annoyed because we havnt even seen the outside world so we dont know why we need all these body parts,

yet all this pain will be worth it in the end.. all the tests in this life will keep hurting us and we will keep crying because we want all this pain to stop. but little do we know that due to all this pain, suffering, anxiety etc. insha Allaah we will get rewarded for it, we feel pain so Allaah subhanahu wa ta'aala can get rid of our sins, we get sad so we can turn to Allaah subhanahu wa ta'aala for help and forgiveness.

Allaah subhanahu wa ta'aala will keep testing us with pain, fear, hunger till we leave this earth with as less sins as possible - this way we will be prepared for the real life, we will be re-born again into a place that we've never sensed before, felt before... and that will be jannah insha Allaah. that will be the real succes, where we can live eternally in joy and peace and have whatever our heart desires insha Allaah. we will believe that all this pain and suffering was worth it, and leaving our faith in Allaah subhanahu wa ta'aala is what made us successful insha Allaah. alhamdulillah :)

great post sis.. jazak Allaah khayr.

If so, could you please, please explain to members that it's very important they cite the source of the story, article or poem they post. To not give credit to the author, or at least to the website one found it on, infringes copyright, is plagiarism because others think the member in question wrote it when he in fact did not, and is generally unfair to the author of the piece.

Imagine if you wrote an article or poem that you put a lot of thought and time into, only for it to be ripped off in chain letters and internet forums without even a mention of your name. :-\

Copyright: It's there for a reason.

yes for Allah does say:

"Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere,
Who say, when afflicted with calamity: "To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return" 2:155-156

After all, we are made of clay..and we shall be molded until we die and even after that Allah will continue to mold us..the weak will be thrown in hell fire to be cleansed of sins and the strong put in Jannah..
so to Him will indeed be our return.
