View Full Version : The State of the Ummah

If we take a moment to ponder over the state of the Muslim Ummah in this day and age, we will come to realise that this Ummah has been declining spiritually and mentally day by day. A question may be put forward as to what is the major factor of this decline and going astray from the orders of Allah and the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ?

First and foremost, we must acknowledge the fact that the love of this word has seeped into our hearts so dramatically that we do not carry any importance for the rules and regulations of the Shariah.

As a result of which our hearts have become so hard that we continue to commit sins on a regular basis without feeling the least bit of shame about them. It is sad to say that we have forgotten the punishments which have befallen nations in the past for going against the commandments of Allah Taa’la. Just because we are living in the 21st century, we should not feel that we are protected from such calamities because Allah Taa’la is All-Knowing and All-Powerful and if we continue committing such actions then we will be at risk of receiving punishments as well.

Another major issue which is found in our society is that some of us have the mentality that the orders of the Qur’an were revealed for those people who were living at that time and since times have changed and civilisation has modernised, those rules will not apply fully within today’s society. Thus they bend the rules of Shariah to make it suitable and comfortable for their modern way of living.

Instead of changing their way of life so that they may try to adopt their lifestyles to incorporate the orders of Allah Taa’la, they begin to be rebel and turn their backs to that which they were ordered to do. It is a shame that they do not realize the reality that the teachings and orders of the Qur’an fully apply to every time and civilisation that has come after its revelation. Therefore, those people who try to tamper and modify these rulings will be severely punished.

If we continue to look at ourselves, we will find that day by day, our aspects of life are changing and we are beginning to acquire a non-Islamic way of life. As a result of which we have begun to act, dress like non-Muslims and want to be affiliated with them in every form and manner.

The Hadith of our beloved Prophet clearly states that whosoever impersonates a nation will be amongst them. So those who continue admiring the ways of the non-believers in this world will be resurrected amongst them on the Day of Judgement.

Wouldn’t we rather be amongst those whom Allah has done good upon from the Messengers, Righteous and Pious Predecessors?

May Allah keep us steadfast on the righteous path and may he make us among the believers. Ameen
