:salamalaikum:

Now often amongst the Muslims is the issue of singing and songs and it being haram or halal.
Ofcourse majority of people believe songs with Musical instruments is forbidden (with the exception of Duff)

But let us also look at how an innocent seeming song can make you commit Blasphemy and in thus committing kufr and going out of the folds of Islam....

For example purposes I will use here a simple song which became very popular only a few years ago and to some extent is still very popular.

The song is by Joan Osbourne and is entitled "If God Was One of Us"

The lyrics are as follows:

If God had a name, what would it be
And would you call it to his face
If you were faced with him in all his glory
What would you ask if you had just one question

And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us

Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home

If God had a face what would it look like
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and in jesus and the saints and all the prophets

And yeah yeah god is great yeah yeah god is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
He's trying to make his way home
Back up to heaven all alone
Nobody calling on the phone

Except for the pope maybe in rome

And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if god was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
Just trying to make his way home
Like a holy rolling stone
Back up to heaven all alone
Just trying to make his way home
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the pope maybe in rome

-----------------------------------------

This song as we can see it deregatory to some extent about God and his glory. The point in the BOLDED text show what I am talking about...

Comparing God to a human being and saying what if he was a slob
Additionally saying God is "trying" - when we all very well know God says BE and it is!
Then "Back up in heaven all alone No one calling on the phone" We know that ALL things revolve around Allah swt - his worshippers are countless - his creation all worship him and ALL things pray to Allah swt.

So basically to sum it up - this seemingly innocent song may be song by us while we are working and what we dont even realize is that instead of glorifying God we are actually saying derogratory things about God and in a sence of speaking committing Kufr.

Just a simple example of how dangerous singing can be for ones deen.....
