    How should we treat Apostates?

    Report bad ads?

I want someone to let me know. Should we really view them as sub-humans? Should we really be harsh with them? Can't we be friendly?

Cuz I feel we are just being the cause for their resentment if we fuel the fire..... and then helping shaytaan.

    And Allah knows best.

Meaning of Tawheed according to The Qur'an
Worshipping none but Allah. Affirming whatever is exclusive to Him, Him alone.

Do what you can to try and bring them back to Islaam. That's the best thing you can do for them. But remember that in the end, it is up to Allaah Ta`aalaa Alone. If He wants, they will become Muslim again. Hidaayah is not in our hands. It is our duty only to deliver the message. Those who accept will accept and those who will reject will reject.

I think it would just depend on the person and their circumstances and reasons, so maybe you can work with wisdom, if there is any chance of them changing.

    Wa alaaikum salam

It is because I met someone who was literally staunch on staying harsh, and that there is no gentleness with apostates.. and that doesn't sound wise.

I think forcing someone is counter-productive. So I think good company will do. No compulsion. Let him ask on Islam.

The Prophet :saw: commanded to execute the Apostates. I know this is for the state to do.

So how we treat them, is a case by case thing?

Yes, you could say that. Use wisdom to know what method is best suited in each case.

Re: How should we treat Apostates?

    respected brother,

It is better to focus our Islamic studies on the basics first, and the best thing is to have a structured study with a teacher. I've noticed you've made threads about Dhimmis, Jihad, apostates, and at the same time you've been having a problem with doubts. To avoid this problem, don't give ear to every person who starts talking about these issues, and don't read about them on the internet. Instead, focus on studying what will benefit you and strive to increase in your worship of Allaah . Ask any questions along the way to a teacher.

Learning to recite the Qur'an, memorising and studying it is something that will benefit you every single day of your life, fill your life with blessings and will raise your status in the Hereafter. Spending your time in the Masjid and in righteous company, in salah, du'a and dhikr will be cause of happiness on the Day of Judgement. All of this will strengthen you and push away doubts. Each of us will be asked how we have spent our time and youth, and those who have dedicated it to matters that will benefit will be successful. But delving into in-depth/confusing issues like kufr in the oath of allegiance etc. is harmful to yourself and best left to the people of knowledge. Unfortunately, many of the youth become confused because they are not giving proper attention where it is due and they lack a structure and guidance from a teacher in their approach to Islam. If you learn any course whether science or maths, they always start with basic principles and covering key topics before moving to the more advanced ones. The revelation of this deen itself was gradual, beginning with key issues before details of law were revealed. In that is a great lesson for us. This is an advice for me and you. : )

I see..... JazakAllah khayr! I know worship is for Allah alone, and my OCD with Major shirk is ... weird. I know now, and now it tries to confuse me with what "anyone" or "anything" means..

anyways, I know that Worship is for Allah alone, and directing worship / worshipping anyone or anything else is Major Shirk and paganism-idolatry.

I think it is best I focus my mind on my studies in math, etc. I cant lose out.

Re: How should we treat Apostates?

(In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful)

    (And peace be upon you)

I have talked before to apostates; some have come back, and some have not. I don't kid myself that I have anything to do with people's individual end-of-the-day choices. Guidance is, as brother Hufaizah, said from Allah. We do not guide anyone; we can encourage them and support them and advise them.

    1. Some just want to experience a different side of life because they felt pigeonholed by Islam.
    2. Some had bad experiences of what religion is within their own homes with religion being forced down their throats and everything was ritualistic.
    3. Some just leave because of emotional reasons which can include anything from having had a loved one die or just lack of support from Muslim community if they were converts.
    4. Some have questions regarding specific things that were either ignored or not answered in a way that satisfied their hearts.
    5. Some never learned Islam and didn't have a relationship with Islam with which to begin.

The people who fall in the above five categories are people you should definitely you can expect with to have rational conversations and have them return to Islam when they deal with their issues at some point in life or if they meet with people who can show them the face of true Islam which is a mercy to humanity.

On the other hand, I would note that there are some persons in the category who become, after leaving, quite obsessed with Islam, which is frankly on an individual level even quite unhealthy, and their entire existence seems to revolve around Islam more after leaving than even when they were Muslim; of these, some use vitriol creating deliberately hatred for Islam and Muslims to the point where it is actually quite scary, attacking anything Islamic to the point wherein I've seen even read non-Muslims becoming uncomfortable with what is being said. To be honest, these kinds of persons are dangerous because they are quite irrational, and I would call them extremists in their own right, and I would advise people to stay away from these kind of people because they are what I would call "toxic" personalities. In fact, a good article regarding them would be "Toxic People: 12 Things They Do and How to Deal with Them." And I'm going to go out on a limb and say that anyone who befriends them in real life will find that these people appear to be saying to the truth in interests of everyone but if you seek deeper will find that they're no friends of anyone but their own selves. Then, in that case, best is to go on about your own life; you are free to make supplications to God for them to find guidance, but it's best you leave them alone otherwise, because toxic people are generally not good for anybody, not even themselves in the long-run.

Obviously, this is a generalized post and doesn't cover all possible categories; it is post meant to help you know and decide for yourself what you should do in regards to a specific person.

    (And peace be upon you)
