Re: Feeling to take my full hijab off (OP)

I was at the Olympics in Athens a couple years ago, and I saw Svetlana Khorkina perform.

    http://www.olympic-eurogym.demon.nl/.../khos/khos.htm

Russia's most successful gymnast, with a remarkable and unique style, is Svetlana Vasilevna Khorkina.

She is tall and elegant, using her height (164 cm!) to full advantage.

Almost contradicting the laws of physics, on her own specialty apparatus, the asymmetric bars, Svetlana has won about every major medal, dominating podiums all over the world, including a unique series of four consecutive world titles.

A big triumph is probably winning the 1997 World Championships All Around title, given her emotional reaction she probably didn't expect this to happen ...

The year after, in her home country of Russia, Svetlana won the 1998 European Championships as well.

In the year 2000 Svetlana achieved another remarkable, perhaps even unique feat. While many thought it impossible for her to win a major all around title again, she did exactly this in the 2000 European Championhips!

In the most important event, the 2000 Olympic Games, Svetlana had a rough time. Still, she won three medals.

In 2001 World Championships she proved she is the best gymnast in the world again, becoming World Champion again!
As a scientist, I can tell you one thing for certain! A young woman could never achieve this sort of mastery of her art with her entire body covered in heavy folds of clothing.

So incredibly "well educated"... yet so driven by the same herd mentality... that he dares stand and accuse us of! what a joke!!!
The Taliban rose to power under Clinton's rule, and they planned their villainy during his reign. It is not the particular political party which has been in power in the Western nations which account for the historical events which have shaped all our lives and brought us here to this encounter. Do not be so rash as to resort to snake oils and conspiracy theories to resolve your cognitive disonnance. There are villains in every society, and I will not propose that the West (Hong Kong included in that clump) are any more intrinsically meritorious in being free of would-be tyrants than is the Islamic world.

The difference is in the social SYSTEMS in which those powerplayers navigate, contest, and beguile. Some systems afford them a bit less manueverability and power, others a bit more.

But, real life now beckons, I have spent my entire morning of my day off here diving into your world. It has not been my intent to insult or offend, but merely to challenge and to learn. The 79% of humanity who are non-Muslims, and in particular those who are literate and middle class are much like me in that they would similarly like to see what makes you tick, and perhaps prompt at least wee bit of introspection for you about the complicity of your prescriptive way of life in allowing suicide terror, murderous interpretations of "jihad," and insurgency to thrive. No doubt, there are some clever comebacks about how my capitalist way of life allows all manner of alternate sins to thrive . . . such is the way of it I suppose. I have my 50 posts, and I am now a full citizen of your world. Will you welcome me, your fellow global citizen, or will you declare a fatwah on all who might question and provoke?

I sincerely wish enlightenment to you all, and that we may find a way to live the coming decades in peaceful, and mutually beneficient coexistence, if not friendship.

lol... we wish enlightenment to you as well....... who knows maybe you'll be one of us?
I don't resort to conspiracies theories. I have dedicated a great deal of my reading and research time to this........ you might be surprised I am a member of a very all American group in which I am the only Muslim, and most if not all share a great deal of my views or at least respect them....

About Jihad... prophet Mohammed (PBUH) stated the greatest Jihad is a word of truth spoken to a tyrant....
maybe this will reshape your views a bit on what Jihad actually is.
There is such complexity in the world in which you are now diving... Don't dismiss it with the usual allegations... I am aware of what books are out there on Amazon selling like hot cakes... There is an adage in Arabic, I will just give you the gist of it... if you go into a town seeking something in particular you WILL FIND IT... in other words if you are going there to site see look at architecture, that is what you will find, if you are there to frequent brothels, then that is what you will find, and undoubtedly it will take over your world and will seem like that is all there is, and all is in concert with it........ In order for any conversation to be solid, you have to have profound knowledge in the subject you are delving... easy to do that on the news in you linguistic style... it will seem believable the kind of audience it is aimed at is of a particular social status and cognitive level.. you speak of cognitive dissonance, well try some cognitive conservatism because truly that is what they dish out... You can go further... it is up to you!
    peace
