the first I have heard of this

    Report bad ads?

    from Akhira section

in all honesty this is the first I have heard of this... is this hadith authentic? It is a little disconcerting -- how big are Gog and Magog? Are they beneath the earth, that they should so outnumber us or just confined to one place in the east? -- I am not sure how to articulate the next portion of my query--but I believe that He [Allah] has inscribed [prescribed] for himself (the rule of) mercy. So will the hadith really stand on judgement day or is there room that more can be forgiven?

Re: the first I have heard of this

    Ya'juj and Ma'juj are among the progeny of Adam, peace be upon him, as was recorded in the Two Sahihs;

    «إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ: يَا آدَمُ فَيَقُولُ: لَبَّيْكَ وَسَعْدَيْكَ فَيَقُولُ: ابْعَثْ بَعْثَ النَّارِ، فَيَقُولُ: وَمَا بَعْثُ النَّارِ؟ فَيَقُولُ: مِنْ كُلِّ أَلْفٍ تِسْعُمِائَةٍ وَتِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ إِلَى النَّارِ وَوَاحِدٌ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ، فَحِينَئِذٍ يَشِيبُ الصَّغِيرُ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمْلٍ حَمْلَهَا. فَقَالَ: إِنَّ فِيكُمْ أُمَّتيْنِ مَا كَانَتَا فِي شَيْءٍ إِلَّا كَثَّرَتَاهُ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوج»

"Allah said: "O Adam.'' Adam said, "Here I am at Your service.'' Allah said, "Send forth the group of Hellfire.'' Adam said, "What is the group of Hellfire" Allah said: "Out of every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine will go to Hell and one will go to Paradise.'' At that time young men will turn grey and every pregnant female will drop her load. Among you are two nations who never come to anything but they overwhelm it with their huge numbers. (They are) Ya'juj and Ma'juj.''

TAFSIR IBN KATHIR - Surah Kahf 18

thats all i found.. so Allaahu a'lam how much of them exist.

Re: the first I have heard of this

We also need to take into consideration the fact that there will be muslims who may go to the fire for a temporary amount of time to be purified.. we also know that the majority among mankind has disbelieved.

We also know that the number of Ya'juj wa Ma'juj is a BIG number since they will drink and eat from ALL the earth (and Allah knows best), and there will be total destruction. So they must be a huge number.

Also, this hadith really cheers me up alhamdulillah:

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Allaah has one hundred degrees of mercy, of which He sent down one among the jinn, mankind, the animals and the vermin, by virtue of which they show compassion and mercy to one another, and the wild animal shows compassion to its young. But Allaah has kept behind ninety-nine degrees of mercy by virtue of which He will have mercy on His slaves on the Day of Resurrection.”

    Narrated by Muslim, 2752.

Going to hell even for a little while is horrible ... May Allah have mercy on us Ameen--- I had a horrible dream about hell the other day.. in it there were seas of red and black lava and there was some sort of rotted enclave where these seas of hell were contained so no one could escape and people were melting in it.

It was really awful, and very unlike the idea of hell, I had as a child...

I wrote a poem about it once...
    entitled

    Twenty Five Piastres
There was a time when heaven was laden
With sweet beds that spun around benches
Where men with covered heads sat around in piety
Reciting stories of horses and chivalry
Hell was just outside in a lantern
Lost souls were of black smoke
    Nameless characters, with nameless deeds
And it was all in the back yard
    Where I knew angels visited
Sitting perched on the street lamps
    Just beyond the great doors
Those that sheltered the little boy
Before his mother ran to grab him scolding
And when the moon was yellow
And the lights were cut from our province
    They left, Angry I thought
For making fun of the poor boy who rebuffed aside
The twenty five piastres that grandma offered him
He would have rather had her old anubis oil burner
To sell for a couple of extra pounds...
well anyhow that is a great digression, but that is what I thought hell and heaven were as a kid .. thanks for the latter post, it is a but more comforting

Re: the first I have heard of this

wow, 1 in 1,000... i have never heard that before! that is a lot..

but, i guess form a muslim perspecitve, heaven is a place for only the elect.

the Bible too says that the way to Heaven is narrow and the way to Hell is wide.

the question is though, is how is hell? is it really tormenting and fire, or is it seperation from God, or? this is something we have to ask and think abut. as a Christian, i think that the descriptions make it sound really bad.. but it's not really going to be lakes of fire, and all that. but i do think it's going to be seperation from God.. and when anyone is seperated from God, it's obviously not fun! so it might seem so bad like burning fire etc.

    Hey,

I heard somewhere, I believe it was a lecture, that those who dwell in the hellfire don't get a chance to see their Creator. The descriptions of hellfire and paradise are mentioned in many ahadith and verses in the Quran in detail, but there are also some unpercievable things awaiting us in the afterlife.

i always thought that hell(according to quran) was eternal, and that the temporary place where some muslims might go was before the day of ressurection. does anyone know anything on this, or am i just crazy? :-p

Re: the first I have heard of this

    Hey,

It is eternal for the disbelievers--those who reject Islam (its practices and its teachings), Allah subhana wa ta'ala, and the Messenger sallahu 'alahi wa salaam.

The day of judgement and ressurection is temporary for everyone until they are in their final abode--paradise or hell. However the Muslims that go to hell will be there temporarily to be cleansed from their sins before entering paradise.

People who go to hell for eternity will be in hell fire, their drink will be the liquid oozing from their wounds, and boiling water, and their food will be this plant that does more harm than good.

The only place that punishment occurs before the Day of Judgement is in the grave. People will be punished in their, disbelievers and sinful Muslims too.

"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death" (Revelation 20:14).
"And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit" (Revelation 9:2).
"Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched" (Mark 9:44).

Re: the first I have heard of this

    Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim.

This is for reflection to myself, all my brothers and sisters in islam also as information for my brothers and sisters in humanity.

In Quran and Hadith we know that we can attain Salvation and paradise by Faith (no god But Allah,Muhammad is His messenger) and Ibadah (obey all Allah command+Stay away from whatever Allah forbid).

    faith alone will attain salvation.

In Islam we believe even bad muslim but have slightest faith(iman), fear(taqwa), hope to be save---Allah will grant paradise to him after burn in hell temporary. but remember 1 day in this world equal 1000 years in afterlife-some scholar says 50000 years. not really a good choice!

    Volume 1, Book 2, Number 42:

    Narrated Anas:

The Prophet said, "Whoever said "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a barley grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a wheat grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of an atom will be taken out of Hell."

Good deeds VS Sin. 10 vs 1

When muslim doing 1 good deed such as pray, Angel raqib will put in his book 10-700 prays
When muslim doing 1 sin such as saying foul word, Angel Atid put in his book 1 sin.

    Volume 1, Book 2, Number 40:

    Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said, "If any one of you improve (follows strictly) his Islamic religion then his good deeds will be rewarded ten times to seven hundred times for each good deed and a bad deed will be recorded as it is

Minor sin will be erased each times we doing good deeds such as perform prayers, minor sin will be erase at least 5 times a day.

    Volume 1, Book 10, Number 504:

    Narrated Ibn Mas'ud:
A man kissed a woman (unlawfully) and then went to the Prophet and informed him. Allah revealed:
And offer prayers perfectly At the two ends of the day And in some hours of the night (i.e. the five compulsory prayers). Verily! good deeds remove (annul) the evil deeds (small sins) (11.114). The man asked Allah's Apostle, "Is it for me?" He said, "It is for all my followers."

Major sin will be erased each times we repent, muslim also repent at least 5 times a day after prayers.

    Repent.

As long as we dont commit shirk...Allah will never reject us...According to Himself.

[004:017] God accept the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and repent soon afterwards; to them will God turn in mercy: For God is full of knowledge and wisdom.

[004:146] Except for those who repent, mend (their lives) hold fast to God, and purify their religion as in God's sight: if so they will be (numbered) with the believers. And soon will God grant to the believers a reward of immense value.

[005:039] But if the thief repents after his crime, and amends his conduct, God turneth to him in forgiveness; for God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[006:054] When those come to thee who believe in Our signs, Say: "Peace be on you: Your Lord hath inscribed for Himself (the rule of) mercy: verily, if any of you did evil in ignorance, and thereafter repented, and amend (his conduct), lo! He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[011:003] "(And to preach thus), 'Seek ye the forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him in repentance; that He may grant you enjoyment, good (and true), for a term appointed, and bestow His abounding grace on all who abound in merit! But if ye turn away, then I fear for you the penalty of a great day:

[020:112] But he who works deeds of righteousness, and has faith, will have no fear of harm nor of any curtailment (of what is his due).

[021:094] Whoever works any act of righteousness and has faith,- His endeavour will not be rejected: We shall record it in his favour.

[042:025] He is the One that accepts repentance from His Servants and forgives sins: and He knows all that ye do.

Most devout muslim will die sinless not because he is sinless, but his sin will be forgiven and erased from his bad deeds book at least 5 times a days.

Just imagine what kind of people that his sin still outnumbered his good deeds after all this priviledge and mercy from Allah? He must be very very bad person.....r u really that bad?

so when people ask "if u die today, r u going to paradise?"

Smile at him with all your confidence and say "yes i will go to paradise, insya' Allah" dont forget to say insya' allah because Allah prefered humility than riya'(boasting).
