Anyone heard of this, and know how prevalent this is?
We know some Muslims do this sometimes where they pray through intermediares and it's completely wrong according to the sunnah. But it's still done nevertheless. I wonder if this is more prevalant and accepted in judiasim or just fringe groups like it is with the Muslim world.
I had a college friend who lived in a Hasidic area of New York (whole town was dark on Shabbat), and I did encounter some Jews who would go to the graves of dead rabbis and pray over them. I think it is a rare thing, but it happens
