    Learning and unsure. Please help

    Report bad ads?

    Hi all

I am very interested in learning about Islam. Unfortunately I am unable to speak Arabic.

Can anyone recommend a Quran publication that is true to what God said. That hasn't been changed over time. That has both Arabic and English translation.

Also can you be a good Muslim but not wear an hijab but obviously dress moderately.?

Can you be a good Muslim and not read or (believe) in the hadith?

Will you go to he'll if you don't follow hadith as some say that it's not the word of God.

Will you go to he'll if you don't wear a Johan?

    Thank you all.

    Greetings dear sister,

Most of us here do not speak Arabic but can only read it and have memorised little parts of the Quran. So there is absolutely nothing to worry about in that regard. A good friend of mine was worried about the very same thing before he converted but now he says that he did not know why he ever worried as Allah makes it easy for us to learn to read and memorise parts of the Quran even though it is not our primary language.

With regards to learning then sister learning is an ongoing process so what I would advise you to do is that if you accept the oneness of God and that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah and that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) is the last Messenger along a line of Prophets and Messengers since the first Prophet Adam (Peace be upon him), then you must not delay in making the proclamation of faith (Shahada) as our enemy Satan looks for many excuses for us to delay the most important thing of all which is to proclaim faith in the one who created until he puts enough doubts in us to deter us from accepting the truth or death over takes us.

So my sister do not delay as that is what our enemy wants. After you have accepted faith then no doubt you will get the necessary help with learning and memorising and will find many other sisters to befriend who will also help you along your journey by the will and help of Allah.

With regards to Hijaab then this is obligatory upon women but you would still be considered a Muslim. It maybe something that may take a while to understand and adopt but the most important thing is to understand why women are ordered to wear hijaabi. The following link contains a good easy to understand explanation:

    http://www.muhajabah.com/dresslikethat.htm

All of the mainstream translations of the Quran translate the "original" Quran from revelation so you do not have to worry about a translation being away from the original Quran. With regards to a good Quran translation for those looking into Islam and New Muslims then please refer to the following:

    http://www.quranproject.org/quran/fi...ile/index.html

With regards to Hadith then the main 6 books of Hadith have been thoroughly and rigorously authenticated for the past 1400 years by scholars of Islam and Hadith and have been classified accordingly. Please refer to the following for an easy to understand explanation of Hadith:

Please also refer to the following thread for Islamic resources and learning:

Very useful Islamic Information for Reverts

If you need any help or advice then we are here for you and you can be a part of our little community online. So please do not hesitate to ask or participate.

May Allah enable you to accept the shahada and make you of great benefit to the Ummah. Ameen

    Hi @Ducky ,

    Welcome to the forum

Fluency in Arabic is not a requirement for becoming Muslim. You will need to memorize verses and phrases along the way (such as prayers which must be done in Arabic), but you can take it step by step. No need to overwhelm yourself with a completely new language. It would be ideal if you are able to study this language later on though, as it's beautiful and it would help you immensely in the faith for deeper understanding. Also, when it comes to selecting the Quran, there are some which offer transliteration. That way you can learn to pronounce some verses in your native language.

All Qurans are exactly the same. The Arabic has been the same since it was revealed. The translations, however, may differ slightly but that's only because some words in Arabic have multiple meanings or cannot be directly translated into one word. The type of English also may differ from translation to translation (eg. old English vs Modern English) I don't know of any translations of Quran which are black listed so I think any translation which is easy for you to comprehend would be a good start. You can try this website http://www.islamicity.org/quransearch/ In the chapter index, choose a chapter and click go and it will display the chapter (no need to enter verse unless you want a specific verse). It will display the transliteration, audio, and translation of each verse in the chapter. Then you can click on the different translation available (right side, under display options). If you want to see more than one translation displayed at a time, then hold down the shift button on your keyboard and select them, then click "apply display options". Alternatively you can download a quran app with translations. There are more translations than what is available on the website. If you prefer a physical copy, just let us know and we can recommend something for you.

We have to strive to protect our faith by our actions as well as intentions. Hijaab is required in Islam. You can be a good Muslim, but your judgement about what you decide to do is between you and your Lord in the end. When we are finding a practice difficult we should find a way to transition into the change. So maybe you can start out by wearing longer clothing, and then transition into hijaab eventually.

Hadith is a part of the Sunnah (the traditions of what the prophet peace be upon him said or did). Some actions are optional but you get more good deeds for doing them, while others are mandatory and must be done. Even if it's not the word of Allah, it's still a part of Islam. For example Prayer is prescribed in the Quran, but it's the hadith that describes how to do it. Allah says in the Quran to follow the prophet, and that is done by understanding his life and following the sunnah.

Re: Learning and unsure. Please help

    Thank you for your replys.

What I meant to say was: will you go to hell if you don't wear a hijab. (Autocorrect messed it up?

In the shaddah it only mentions Muhammad is this because it would take too long to mention the other prophets and or because Muhammad was the last messenger?

If the hadiths were written after Muhammad died and did not directly come to muhammad from god how can they be taken as gods words. Only asking as I would want to follow what God really said and wanted/wants rather than what someone who wasnt gods messenger wrote to extend the teachings.

    Thank you all
