I was wondering. Is there a favorite book that you might have that gives a good overview of Islam?
I'm looking for something that I can use for a reference that is accurate and understandable. I'm not so interested in anything complicated. I just want a good basic overview that you would recommend for someone who is considering reverting.

“All day I think about it, then at night I say it. Where did I come from, and what am I supposed to be doing? I have no idea. My soul is from elsewhere, I'm sure of that, and I intend to end up there.”
I'm not sure how much you already know, and therfore exactly what level you wanted it at. Did you mean something like this, this, or this?
Or would you need a bit more detail?
I think those are good to start. Thank you. I will spend some time looking them over.
I guess what I was wondering was if there is a well-recognized text that Muslims go to for basic reference. Something like a book by a recognized scholar like "Islamic Doctrine" or something similar.
It sounds like once you get past the basics you have to consult a lot of different sources.

I quite like "What everyone should know about Islam and Muslims" by Suzanne Haneef, 14th Ed, Library of Islam 1996. It doesn't go into rules and regulations in great depth, but gives a good overview. Although it's a small book, it is, however, 200 pages, so that might be too long for you...
If you've got any questions that are most pressing on your mind, please do post them, regardless of how many there may be.

I recently came across "Islam Beliefs and Teachings" by Ghulam Sarwar and published by The Muslim Educational Trust.
This book is absolutely excellent as far as being a good introduction to Islam. I highly recommend it.
Peace and Blessings.
