I have learned that you cannot defend an entire group of people under any circumstance whether they're Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Republican, Jew, Democrat, ... every group has a rotten batch which somehow gives others the delusion that it's the whole group. So I try my best to defend Islam, only I wind up defeated because I'm uneducated for the most part and they get that smug mug every single time which absolutely stinks because I know I'm right and they're wrong I just can't prove it!
So! Would any of you be wonderful enough to teach me with patience?
My top question at moment is Islam and peace. The tolerance of other religions so long as non-Muslims try to attack or force upon their religion. I remember skimming a book but I never picked it up but it said something about Muhammad (sp?) preached tolerance and love of the Christians and Jews. . .
I'm sorry if this topic was a little over the place, it is 2am my brain is beginning to check out.

if you would like to learn more about Islam, i recommend these lectures by Dr Bashar Shala. Dr Shala in NOT [in his words] a scholar. rather, he is a very busy and humble man who spends a great deal of his time teaching the history of Islam at his Masjid. despite what he says about himself, i ABSOLUTELY LOVE his work. he has a history of the Prophet, PBUH, here:
that^^ is his newer version. he actually began his online posts with this version of the Seerah from early 2002. Dr. Jamil Akbik stood in for Brother Bashir when he was absent. the new lectures are 100% Bashar:
Had the non-believer known of all the Mercy which is in the Hands of Allah, he would not lose hope of entering Paradise, and had the believer known of all the punishment which is present with Allah, he would not consider himself safe from the Hell-Fire http://www.muftimenk.co.za/Downloads.html
First of all, I would like to thank you for your post and for seeking knowledge to defend Islam. I was speechless, God bless you and all those who do the same. Correcting the misconceptions and wrong stereotypes associated with Islam enables peaceful co-existance.
I have put up the following websites, I hope you find them useful:
Thank you for trying to defend Islam... May Allah shows you the way
25:36 And the true servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk the earth with humility and when the ignorant address them, they respond with words of peace.
