Re: An Israeli professor explains Islam

Jzk, the man seems objective and honest in his approach, was losing my patience with jews until I saw this.

    Edit:
(I'm typing on a 4" phone and the keyboard takes more than half , so please excuse the typos and predictive text).
Just watched the full video, two bits i noticed in which he does appear to do a bit of misleading - firstly, Islam is not primarily about territory, it is about living life in obedience to God, territory then plays a role in the facilitation of proper and real islamic living.
Also at thirty minutes ( possibly based on 'Umar (ra)'s interaction with aqra and uyayna during the khilafah of abu bakr) he claims that Muslims can dissolve sacred treaties and covenants as soon as they get the upper hand, and that is not entirely true (if the Prophet pbuh had let them keep the land permanently - it is unlikely that they would have come back to Abu bakr for a renewal since it would have been their property).
If things are peaceful and a large population of the people of the book continue to want to live in willful ignorance of Allah's commands, yet will not practice espionage, sabotage and preparations for war against Muslims, and will allow Muslims to practice their faith in obedience to Allah freely and to present the guidance of Allah to the people - treaties can be made based on a mutual understanding and they can be renewed as long as such treaties are not unjust, and each paety is not hindered by the other from making or procuring their own weapons. Muslims are to abide and stand faithfully by their just covenants. We can see this clearly in surah tawbah and in hudaybiyyah, and other treaties.

    009:004 Khan
    :
Except those of the Mushrikun with whom you have a treaty, and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor have supported anyone against you. So fulfill their treaty to them to the end of their term. Surely Allah loves Al- Mattaqun (the pious - see V.2:2).

We can also see in the truce of hudaybiyyah that the Prophet pbuh abided by the treaty despite the huge force that he built up until the Quraish's ally broke the truce with full knowledge and covert assistance of Quraish.

And also in the many treaties that were made with the jews of madinah and other tribes.

Our main goal is to live on earth as believers in submission to Allah and to meet Allah in a state of imaan.
For this to happen without huge problems we do need a genuine islamic state where the rule of Allah is implemented and differences between Muslims are settled by the law of Allah - and to which all Muslims can migrate without fear of sabotage and treachery from non-Muslims, and Munafiqeen who work in tandem with malicious non-Muslims.

There is no point in pretending that the current situation is exactly like it was at the end of the Prophet 's lifetime because it isn't. The Prophet pbuh and his companions reached the stage they were at through imaan and trust in Allah and through realistic and just political maneuvers, it was the treachery and covenant breaking of the non-muslims which hemmed in and defeated the treacherous covenant breakers and gave the Messenger of Allah the dominion. It didn't automatically happen by abracadabra.

If we are willimg to accept that a sizeable amount of jews now live in the region and are willing to grant them a reserved place in the region, whilst we are able to freely establish islamic law for Muslims in the countries in which they form a majority and without each party fearing that the other will kill their children, I think the whole world will be Muslim by example before long.

Also, that appears to be the best option in terms of preventing further bloodshed and infighting, and from Muslims being the first to reject peace. And I am sure that Allah will pan it out nicely. If the non-Muslims reject peace and initiate aggression and sabotage- at least the muslims gave peace a try and Allah will certainly assist the righteous and meek.
