What happens to non-Muslims when they die?

a brief description what will happen to you if you die as a non-muslim:
The Angel of death will come with the most horrible appearance and will yank your soul out of your body like wet wool through is pulled through a bush of thorns.
Munkar and Nakir will come and ask you the three questions which you cannot answer...and then they will start hurting you.
you will experience pain and misery until judgement day.
on judgement day, on the way to heaven, you need to cross the sirat bridge, and you will fall off that bridge....right into the pits of hell...forever...and the real sufferings begin.

Peace be upon those who follow guidance

Just to clarify a point as Muslims we don't act as judge and jury when it comes to specifying salvation or damnation

We know generally speaking those who die in a religion other than Islam will go to the fire and the believers will go to paradise. We don't however specify for a specific individual that he is in the fire or paradise as Allah knows what was in his heart at the time of death
We fear an evil end for the wicked and hope for a righteous end for the pious but we do not say definitely he is in the paradise or the fire.

I just wanted to clarify that point as my family is Christian and it really bugs me when their church claims specific people are in heaven if they like them or hell if not. Allah alone knows the state of an individual and what was in his heart at the time of death

Another point to clarify is that Allah is just you can't just claim Islam and do evil all throughout your life and expect no consequences. The wicked from among the Muslims some will also be punished in the hellfire the difference being they will eventually go to paradise

In a nutshell those who die worshipping other than Allah will be in the fire eternally but it's not our place to specify specific individuals. We fear for the wicked and hope for the righteous

The concept of the hereafter is a massive topic but know Allah is more merciful than to punish his servants for a sin they have repented from
His mercy encompasses all things. It is us who choose to turn away from him.

I've quoted below some sayings of the Prophet Muhammad sallaho alayhi wa sallam regarding the mercy in islam I don't want you to get the idea Islam only preaches punishment. Allah is extremely merciful but he is also just.

"Allah has made mercy into one hundred parts. He kept with Himself ninety-nine parts and sent down one part to the Earth so because of that part the creation is merciful such that a horse raises a hoof over its child for fear of hurting it."Al-Bukhari

"When Allah decreed the creation He wrote in His Book which is with Him on His Throne: My Mercy prevails over My Wrath."Al-Bukhari

The Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, was asked, "O Messenger of Allah pray against the idolators!" So the Prophet said, "Verily, I was not sent to invoke curses but rather I was only sent as a mercy."Muslim

"I am the Prophet of repentance and I am the Prophet of mercy."Muslim

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying : Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: I live in the thought of My servant and I am with him as he remembers Me. (The Holy Prophet) further said: By Allah, Allah is more pleased wth the repentance of His servant than what one of you would do on finding the lost camel in the waterless desert. When he draws near Me by the span of his hand. I draw near him by the length of a cubit and when he draws near Me by the length of a cubit. I draw near him by the length of a fathom and when he draws near Me walking I draw close to him hurriedly.
