    Prophecies (OP)

I am a beginner with Islam.

I have a sincere desire to know if you have prophecies and what they are?

Muslim reports from Thawban (May Allah be pleased with him) that Allah's Messenger (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said:

"Allah the Most Exalted folded for me the earth, so much so that I saw its easts and wests (i.e. the extremities). The kingdom of my community will reach as far as the earth was folded for me.

The two treasures, the red (gold) and the white (silver) were bestowed on me, I prayed to my Lord that He may not destroy my community by a prevailing famine, and not give their control to an enemy who annihilates them en masse except from among themselves. My Lord said to me, 'Muhammad, if I issue a decree, it is not withdrawn; I have promised your Ummah that I will not destroy it by a prevailing famine, and I shall not give their control to an enemy -except from among themselves -who exterminates them en masse, even if they are stormed from all sides of the earth; only a section of them will destroy another section, and a section will take as prisoner another section.' "

Al-Barqani (May Allah be pleased with him) recorded this Hadith in his Sahih and also mentioned the following words:

I am afraid about my community of those astray leaders who will lead astray. When the sword is used among my people, it will not be withdrawn from them till the Day of Resurrection, and the Last Hour will not come until the tribes of my people attach themselves to the polytheists and tribes of my people worship idols. There will be among my people thirty great liars each of them asserting that he is a prophet, whereas I am the Seal of the Prophets after whom (me) there will be no Prophet; and a section of my people will continue to hold to the truth and they will be victorious and they will not be harmed by those who oppose them till Allah's
    Command comes."

[Kitab Al Tawheed, Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahaab. page 61]

    12) There are a number of signs in the statement of the Prophet (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him)

    • Allah folded for him (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) the east and the
west (i.e. the lands under the control of Islam); the meaning of it; and that it indeed occurred
as he informed; as opposed to the north and the south.
    • That two treasures (i.e. treasures of Rome and Persia) were bestowed upon him.
    • That two of his D'ua (invocations) on behalf of his nation have been accepted.
    • That the third of his invocations was prevented.
    • That the sword would be used and that it would not be lifted after that (after the murder of Caliph Uthman, the Muslims have always been at war with each other i.e. sects, power struggles etc.)
    • That false prophets would appear among this nation (the Muslims) [i.e. the Ahmadiyya sect.]
    • There would always be a victorious group.
    • All of this occurred as he mentioned even though each one of them was far from what could have been conceived.

    13) The extent of fear for his nation from the misguided and astray leaders.

    14) Warning and notice of the meaning of idol worship.

They said, "O Allah's Messenger! Do you mean to say that we will follow the Jews and the Christians?"

He replied, "Whom else?" (meaning, of course the Jews and the Christians)."

(Recorded authentically in Sahih Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
Now recently I heard a talk by brother Abdur-Raheem Green. He mentioned an amazing story of a lizard hole which was very large. It belonged to what I think he referred to as the 'commodo dragon' - a very large type of lizard. Its hole is so big a person can go inside it. Anyway a non-Muslim (Christian?, Jew?) - I think a scientist type - went into the lizard's hole and got killed by one of the inhabitants. Then a few years later ARG mentioned a Muslim (scientist?) who was photographed in a same type of lizard hole. Exactly - literally as the hadith mentions although I also think the prophecy refers to following in each and every thing. Amazing!.

    Re: Prophecies

When and Why (Surah Yusuf, 12) was Revealed?

The subject matter of this Surah indicates that it was revealed during the last stage of the Holy Prophet's residence at Makkah, when the Quraish were considering the question of killing or exiling or imprisoning him. At that time some of the unbelievers put this question (probably at the instigation of the Jews) to test him :"Why did the Israelites go to Egypt?" This question was asked because they knew that their story was not known to the Arabs for there was no mention of it whatever in their traditions and the Holy Prophet had never even referred to it before. Therefore they expected that he would not be able to give any satisfactory answer to this question or would first evade it, and afterwards try to enquire about it from some Jew, and thus he would be totally exposed. But, contrary to their expectations, the tables were turned on them, for Allah revealed the whole story of Prophet Joseph then and there, and the Holy Prophet recited it on the spot. This put the Quraish in a very awkward position because it not only foiled their scheme but also administered a warning to them by aptly applying it to their case, as if to say, "As you are behaving towards this Prophet, exactly in the same way the brothers of Prophet Joseph behaved towards him; so you shall meet with the same end."

    Re: Prophecies

    If someone claims the companions of the Prophet or Muslims in history lied and made these prophecies to justify his prophethood, then we can refute them with this hadith;

Narrated 'Ali: The Prophet said, "Do not tell a lie against me for whoever tells a lie against me (intentionally) then he will surely enter the Hell-fire."

[Authentic - Bukhari, Book of Knowledge #106]

Meaning - his companions feared to lie about him - even if they meant something good, since the person would fear hellfire as a consequence.

So his companions couldn't lie about him, even if it was something good. If they lied about him, they were warned of against the hellfire. So you tell me, would someone who is a dedicated follower who really believes in him - would they lie about him to make him look good, while placing themselves in the threat of the hellfire?

    Re: Prophecies

There are at least 160 known and confirmed prophecies of Prophet Muhammad which were fulfilled in his lifetime and the first generation after him.[1] We will mention some here.

    (1) Preceding the Battle of Badr, the first and decisive confrontation with pagan Meccans in the second year of migration from Mecca in 623 CE, Prophet Muhammad foretold the precise spot every pagan Meccan soldier would fall. Those who witnessed the battle saw the prophecy come true with their own eyes.[2]

    (2) Prophet Muhammad prophesized the Battle of the Confederates (al-Ahzab) would be the last invasion the tribe of Quraish (the pagan Meccans) would launch against the Muslims. It was fought in the fifth year of migration, 626 CE and was the last military conflict between the two sides. All Meccans embraced Islam after a few years.[3]

    (3) The Prophet informed his daughter, Fatima, that she would be the first member of his family to die after him. There are two prophecies in one: Fatima will outlive her father; Fatima will be the first member of his household to die after him. Both were fulfilled.[4]

    (4) The Prophet Muhammad prophesized Jerusalem would be conquered after his death.[5] The prophecy was fulfilled when, according to Encyclopedia Britannica: “In 638 the Muslim Caliph, Umar I, entered Jerusalem.”[6]

    (5) The Prophet Muhammad prophesized the conquest of Persia.[7] It was conquered by Umar’s commander, Sa’ad bin Abi Waqqas. In the words of Encyclopedia Britannica:

“…raids into Sasanian territory were quickly taken up by Muhammad’s Caliphs, or deputies, at Medina - Abu Bakr and Umar ibn al-Khattab… an Arab victory at Al-Qadisiyyah in 636/637 was followed by the sack of the Sasanian winter capital at Ctesiphon on the Tigris. The Battle of Nahavand in 642 completed the Sasanids’ vanquishment.”[8]
    (6) The Prophet Muhammad prophesized the conquest of Egypt.[9] In the words of Encyclopedia Britannica:
“Amr… undertook the invasion in 639 with a small army of some 4,000 men (later reinforced). With what seems astonishing speed the Byzantine forces were routed and had withdrawn from Egypt by 642… Various explanations have been given for the speed with which the conquest was achieved.”[10]
    (7) The Prophet foretold confrontation with the Turks.[11] The first conflict took place in the caliphate of Umar in 22 AH.[12]

    (8) The Prophet foretold the first maritime battle to be undertaken by Muslims would be witnessed by Umm Haram, the first woman to participate in a naval expedition. He also prophesied the first assault on Constantinople.[13]

The first maritime battle in Muslim history was in 28 AH in the rule of Mu’awiya. It was witnessed by Umm Haram as foretold by Prophet Muhammad, and Yazid ibn Mu’awiya led the first attack on Constantinople in 52 AH.[14]

    (9) The prophecy that Rome, Persia, and Yemen will be conquered was made during the Battle of Confederates in 626 CE,[15] under extreme circumstances, as is described by the Quran:

“[Remember] when they came at you from above you and from below you, and when eyes shifted [in fear], and hearts reached the throats and you assumed about God [various] assumptions. There, the believers were tested and shaken with a severe shaking. And [remember] when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is disease said, ‘God and His Messenger did not promise us except delusion.’” (Quran 33:10-12)
    (10) Prophet Muhammad prophesized an imposter claiming to speak in the name of God would be killed at the hands of a righteous man in Muhammad’s lifetime.[16] Al-Aswad al-Ansi, an imposter prophet in Yemen, was killed in the Prophet’s lifetime by Fayruz al-Daylami.[17]
There are at least an additional 28 prophecies pertaining to the end times which are awaiting fulfillment.

Indeed these well-documented prophecies are clear proofs of the Prophethood of Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him. There is no possible way that the Prophet could have knowledge of these incidents except if it were inspired by God Himself, all in order to further prove the authenticity of the Muhammad, that he was not an imposter, but rather a Prophet raised by God to deliver humanity from Hellfire.

    Re: Prophecies

    asalaam alaikum

    One point which made me further strengthen my belief in the Qur'an was this verse;
"And the heavens* We** constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander." [Quran: 51:47]

(the word vasi in Arabic means vast, moowsi’oon [which comes from the root word vasi] is the word used in that verse which signifies that someone is an expander and expanding that certain thing, in the context of the verse – the heavens or space is gradually being expanded by God’s control.]

*heavens = the skies and space above us (in arabic = sama' = heavens), Even linguistically in English and many other languages.

it isn't the Paradise promised for the believers. The gardens promised to the beiievers in the next life is Jannah (which means gardens.)

**We = Royal We, it is used by kings to refer to themselves in a respectful way. Allah - the One & Only God refers to Himself in this respectful Royal 'We' too.

    The Big Bang:
    http://www.islamicboard.com/dawah/13...ml#post1050844
Someone over 1400 years ago would probably think the universe is static (i.e. stays in a still state), but the Qur'an proves otherwise [that its expanding], which we've just discovered in the 20th century by Edwin Hubble [who came with the Theory of the Big Bang].

That's just another sign that Islam has truth to it, and we are able to understand the universe around us using Qur'anic verses, and science - and by relating them together.

The prophet (pbuh) prophecied that his ummah will split into many sects and only one of them will enter Jannah. :

'My ummah will be divided into seventy three sects. All of them will be in the Fire except one' [Saheeh Muslim, no.976]

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu): "The Messenger of Allah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: 'The Jews separated into 71 sects, and the Christians into 72, and my nation will divide into 73 sects.'" (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)

There was also prophecy about the bedouin arabs competing in building tall buildings.
From the list of tallest buildings for the next decade, more than half are being built in UAE and Arab Saudi.

I thought there was just shia and sunni, you are suggesting there are more - who are they?

(btw - why does every post in this thread have to go through a moderator?)

Like br naidamar said i dont think there are 73 sects yet but as Yammul-
Qiyamah (day of judgement) comes closer and lack of knowledge of the
religion decreases more people will create/turn to sects that will contradict the religion of Islam.
Im not sure about whether within sunnism the four schools of thought (maaliki, shaf'ee, hanafee, hanabalee) would be considered as sects but we do have sufism, *******s, Kharijites, salafi
Also shi'ism divides within itself such as the Ismailiyya, the Imamiyya, the Kamiliyya etc.
Anywas i think we are going off-topic and I believe this type of discussion is not allowed in this forum.
