Muslims are encouraged to be educated. The intention is not to get a degree or any other piece of paper but to gain knowledge. If you reflect on what you learn in school you will see how amazing it is
im sure you can do both maybe u could become a teacher and also do islamic courses so in sha allah u be able teach all the knowledge you have gained. theres no need drop out school

With a great job, you can marry a pious woman, have children, live in a nice home, pray at home, mosque, travel all around the world to see the different mosques etc. Endless Islamic possibilities brother. You can study Islam on your free time. This will benefit not only you but your family and your children's family and down.

Get your education, and stay within the boundaries of Islam while you get it. I know uni can be a mass distraction from deen, I see it all the time. However, I also see brothers and sisters who stay within the boundaries Islam sets and complete their studies all the same.
Don't put yourself in a false dichotomy brother, it's not an either-or situation. I't not impossible to learn both. Also it is wrong to think that they cannot help you with akhira. Many things, given the right intention, can be ibaadah.

If you have math knowledge and you use your knowledge to help people, In Shaa Allah, you will get reward for the hereafter. But if you have high Islamic knowledge, will it automatically produce reward for hereafter?.
There are people who have high knowledge of fiqh, sharia, etc. But unfortunately they fall into arrogance, regard themselves know Islam better than the other. Then they start to criticizing other Muslims, call other Muslims as deviants or even kuffar. Will this behavior produce reward for the hereafter?.

If you told your parents that you want to study Islam because other knowledge are not beneficial for hereafter, of course, they would scold you and give you long lecture about benefit of knowledge.
But if you told your parents that you want to study Islam because you want to be Islamic scholar and use your knowledge for ummah, maybe, and In Shaa Allah, they would start thinking about it.
Yes, many parents want their children have job with high income in the future. But it doesn't means parents must be refuse their children wish to study Islam. Look at Islamic institutes or universities. There are many students there, and they study there with approval from their parents. I know they are approved by their parents because I know their study cost paid by their parents.
Young bro, I support you if you want to study Islam, but only with right intention, to use your knowledge for ummah. If you study Islam, you should ready to teach people. Maybe teach as teacher, maybe give lecture, maybe issuing fatwa, maybe write Islamic book or article.
If you study Islam but you don't have intention to use your knowledge for ummah, then you just waste your study time, and the worse is you waste your knowledge, like someone who study medicine but never become a doctor and never use his medical knowledge to help people.
Two of my uncles studied in Islamic school. One, who has passed away, worked in ministry of religion. After retired he still active in giving Islamic lecture. Another is an ustadz (Islamic teacher) who teaches people voluntary. Yes, voluntary without paid. But he also has knowledge of business, and he fulfill his family needs by his business.
Righteous living and worship in this world is what will benefit you in the hereafter. It's not advanced-level Islam that it takes a scholar to know.
As for the Ummah, it has far too many unemployed and underemployed scholars already. Scholars that could do the Ummah a lot of good if someone would pay them to serve the Ummah full-time and not worry about having a day job. You can be that someone if you have a lucrative career. I intend to be that someone myself as well.

How can you learn to properly read or write without going to school? Going to school is a halal way of seeking knowledge. Along with being a web designer I'm also a full time English teacher working at a government institution and I always feel delighted at seeing Muslim students in my classes.
Don't belittle subjects like maths, geography or history because these are all important subjects to learn.
And verily for everything that a slave loses there is a substitute, but the one who loses Allah will never find anything to replace Him.” [Related by Ibn al-Qayyim in ad-Dâ' wad-Dawâ Fasl 49]
The Prophet Muhammad pbuh said "if anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, God will cause him to travel one of the roads of paradise. The angels will lower their wings in their great pleasure in the one who seeks knowledge. The inhabitants of the heavens and the earth and (even) the fish in the sea will ask forgiveness for the learned man. The superiority of the learnt over the devout is like that of the moon, on the night when it is full, over the rest of the stars.The learned are the inheritors of the Prophets (no monetary inheritance) they leave only knowledge, and he who takes it - takes an abundant portion" - Sunan Abu Dawud 1631

Of course not, your choice is not right! You sound very young (or you're joking), Islam is not just a religion, a couple of lectures and books, and how do you think those people wrote books or were able to make lectures, you’re not helping anyone by this choice, not even yourself and therefor it's against Islam teaching.
