As requested, this is a thread where we can discuss various books and recommend books as well. For a more detailed discussion on a certain book, we recommend making a seperate thread in the Education Issues section of this forum.

asalamwaalaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatahu,
inshaAllah i make dua that brothers and sisters are well and in high imaan
i must recommend a book which i am reading and alhumdulillah veru near completed, its called "MILESTONES" and its by sayid qutb, its a truly amazing book which is written in clear simple english, explaining the true message of islam , the soverignty of Almighty Allah, it costs about £5 but please inshaAllah a must read, from what i have heard it is due to this book that sayid qutub was martyred by the egptian government.
jazakAllahukhairan
os abu ameenahs books alhumdulillah are very good, espicially the fundementals on tawheed
book by Abd Samad Moussaoui and its called 'Zacarias Mossaoui: the making of a terrorist'
This book was interestinfg in the fact where the author describes his brother's up bringing and tries to describe what went wrong and why, its a moving book and really gets one going.
book by Ziauddin Sardar called 'Desperately seeking paradise' this one is good and its how he tries to find the meaning of his religion(islam) and ends up going places to seek knowledge.
book by harun Yayah called 'never plead ignorance' this book is VERY good and really makes the reader think.
I recommend the milestones book too by Mr.Qutub, and also any book on the history of akhwaanul-muslimeen. if you are an enemy of the state you will find it fascinating. Also I recommend any book written by Noam Chomsky. If you are very left wing you will enjoy it too.
The Revenge of the Sith novelisation by Matthew Stover is pretty good. But it's Star Wars, so you won't like it Minaz. For you I'd recommend one of those 'chick books'. Like, for example... anything from Mills and Boon
The novel 'Battle Royale' is simply brilliant. The writing style itself isn't anything to boast about (it's not translated very well from Japanese) but the plot is excellent - a bunch of Japanese teenagers are taken to a remote island and forced to kill each other in a brutal state-governed game. Twisted and yet awesome!
Also, any Sherlock Holmes novel is guaranteed to entertain.
None of the above suggestions are 'Islamic' per se, but the topic title is 'recommend a book' - which allows them to be included without being off-topic.
I'm into any kind of philosophy, and I'm keen to learn about Islamic philosophers. Apart from Ibn Sina, Ibn Rushd and some of the other Islamic philosophers of the Middle Ages, the only modern I'm familiar with is Nuh Ha Mim Keller.

Written in prison by Dr. Naahah Ibrahim, Asim Abdul Maajid & Esaam-ud-Deen Darbaalah and checked by the imprisoned scholar Imam Umar Abdur-Rehman currently serving life in the US - may Allah hasten his release. This book is a must for every Muslim.
Son of Adam that is one of the coolest books ever. What a catchy title! Seeing the title I just knew I had to have it. Yes I agree this book is a must for every muslim.
