He needs to guide her with love and kindness.
A very important part here is to understand that should that disobedience also be valid to him - its imperative that he is setting an example of it too.
Example: The wife is not reciting Quran - That applies to both genders so if he is not reciting Quran but yet expects her too, then there is a double problem at hand.

I understand and believe in encouraging a spouse to read Quran more, adopt more religious habits...etc. but...each person is their own person who God will judge individually, along with what was in their heart/their intention...someone forcing them to do something does not do anything but create false actions.
I do not know what you mean by "disobedient"...women are not dogs.

The word "disobey" doesn't only apply to animals. You are taking a partial view on a very broad word.
If you were to insinuate that the word disobey infers to an animal like subject - then Many hadith and the Quran itself would be put to question.
