    A Phone Call Away

Nowadays many people generally only meet family members on the occasion of a death or a wedding in the family. While it may not be possible to travel and meet family members who live long distances away from us, we can occasionally give them a phone call just to greet them and find out as to how they are keeping.

We will be surprised as to what du‘aas and supplications a simple phone call can earn for ourselves. Perhaps an old aunt is sick or bedridden and feeling very low. You called, and her spirits were boosted once again. Your voice brought a smile to her face and her heart instantaneously flows with du‘aas for you.

We tend to forget that our progress and achievements are very often due to the du‘aas of those around us. At times we focus on the big things in life, forgetting that even the little things really do count.

    Re: A Phone Call Away

it always feels good to hear from friends and family.
Those who abandon their families should know the damage they can cause and those who make an effort for their families should be rewarded.

A smile and a kind word can give a lot of comfort to the people who need them and make a big difference to people. Specially when they are struggling.

    Re: A Phone Call Away

    Assalamualaikum.

In 1987 I left my city to study in another city. Situation in Indonesia in that time was different than now. Not only cellphone has not existed yet, but many houses still had no telephone line. My house in my city had telephone line. But the house where I lived in another city didn't have it.

So, when I wanted to phone my parent I must go to telecom office, where I must wait, sometime for more than a hour, before I could contact my parents at home. But I always phoned my parents every saturday evening although there was no important thing. I just didn't want my parents worry if I didn't phone them, and also I wanted to make sure that my family condition was okay.

Now situation is different. Almost all people in Indonesia have cellphone. Is very easy to contact the others. But, do the kids who live far still phone their parents except when asking money or something?. ... Maybe situation now is indeed different.

I am sure you have taken a lot of dua of your parents.

Kudos to you for being a good son of your parents
