When people ask me to help them have better communication with their spouse, something interesting happens.
As the conversation progresses, the focus is on how they can win an argument, make their point heard, or be able to tell their husband how he needs to change.
If you want to improve communication, then the first thing you have to know is that it is not a synonym for fighting and you winning.
If we could use a number, one might say that 8 or 9 times out of 10, your communication should be focused on things like:
* Compliments
* Showing Gratitude
* Asking about their day
* Sharing a funny thought or moment from your own
* Flirting
* Beautiful statements like "Jazakum Allahu Khairan"
The goal of better communication is lost when someone is hurt and wanting a space to be validated. But it will not be the goal that improves a relationship.
To improve communication, aim for the investing your words into all that is good and positive in your life and in your husband, and then, difficult conversations are easier to have or faster to recover from.
