The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The best fasting is the fast of Dawood (David): he used to fast one day and not the next.” (Recorded in Sahih al Bukhari and Muslim)
Is in a 24 hours fast?
Fasting one day and eating the next?
How long is it done for? And at a specific time?
24 hours fast? ..... of course not
But day 1 fast .. day 2 not .. day 3 fast .. day 4 not. Same like fast in ramadhan, its started from dawn into sunset.
But there are certain days when Muslims are forbidden to do Daud fast, according to Islamic calendar.
- Eid-ul Adha (10 dzulhijah) and Eid-ul Fitri (1 shawal). All scholars agree, it's prohibited to fast in these two days.
- Tasyriq days (11,12,13 dzulhijah). Majority of scholars say, forbidden to fast in these days, based on a hadith that Tasyriq days are the days for eat and drink. But there are scholars who say, fast in Tasyriq days still permissible.
