Regret For Wasting Ramadan so far!!!

Two thirds of Ramadan have passed and only one-third - the last blessed 10 days remains.

Although we may all differ regarding the two thirds that have passed, there should be only one type of person in the remaining third: the person who is regretful of his negligence and conscious of his shortcomings.

Regardless of one's eagerness to do good deeds, each one of us is guilty of negligence to a certain extent, and thus, we should be absolutely determined to make up for the time we have wasted and strive much harder from this moment onwards.

--- So even though the first two thirds of Ramadan may have been wasted, we must not despair. Rather we should admit that we have been neglectful, wake ourselves up and internalise in our minds - that the final stretch of Ramadan will be not only better, but the best we have ever performed in any previous Ramadan - by the permission of Amighty Allah.

    We must act now!

So we must now strive and work as hard as possible for we do not know if this will be our last Ramadan or not!

Regardless of how sinful we are or whether we pray or even fast what matters is that we make a firm intention from this moment onwards that we will change for the better and repent for our past and present sins. These last 10 days and nights of this blessed month is the best opportunity for us to change our lives for the better in getting closer to Allah, connecting with the Qur'an and re-focusing our goals and objectives to that of preperation for the Hereafter!

So let us not wait for tomorrow but act now in opening our hearts to Allah and crying and begging of him to forgive us and guide us to the straight path. We must strive from now on to better ourselves and to emulate the beloved Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).

So let us make firm intention right now that we will make every effort and do everything we can from now onwards to get closer to Allah and to spend every aspect of our lives in pleasing him and refraining from anything that may anger or displease him. For if we waste this valuable opportunity and die in this state then surely Allah will ask us that did we not get any opportunities to change? Did no one come to remind us? Did we not get chance after chance? Then how many more chances do we need until death takes us? Do we really know at which moment our death will be? Then surely the wise person acts immediately and does not delay!

    Utter regret

Therefore we cannot afford to miss out on this most valuable opportunity as this may be our last Ramadan and our only opportunity to worship on Laylatul Qadr. If we lose this opportunity then surely we will be the biggest losers and in utter regret FOREVER!!!

Re: Regret For Wasting Ramadan so far!!!

We are now half Way through Ramadan and many of us are regrettful of what has passed without doing many good deeds. But fear not there is still time. A Muslim continues to strive until the end!

The best of days and nights are yet to come. The first of the blessed 10 nights begins this Saturday from Maghrib and the first day on Sunday from Fajr:

Ibn al-Jawzi said: "When the race horse knows that it is nearing the end of the track it exerts all of its effort to win the race. Do not allow the race horse to be more clever than you. For verily, deeds are judged by their conclusions. So if you didn't do well with welcoming Ramadan then perhaps you will do better bidding it farewell."

Ibn Taymiyyah said: "The lesson lies in perfection of the conclusion of a thing, not in the shortcomings of the beginning of it."

Hasan al-Basri said: "Improve your performance in what is left (of time) and you will be forgiven for that which has already passed. So take special care of the time you have left because you do not know when your soul will be turned over to Allah’s Mercy.”

So let us learn from what has passed and make the best of the present for any secind may be our last and we may not see another Ramadan!

We should try to remember that if we are keeping away from haram during our fast, It is actually preparing us

to stay away from haram after Ramadan.Since it takes about 30 days to build a habit therefore ramadan is our

rehearsal for for keeping close to halal.

Re: Regret For Wasting Ramadan so far!!!

Have we just wasted the whole of Ramadan?

Many of us are feeling right now that we have wasted the whole of Ramadan.

We feel we could have read more Qur'an, done more dhikr, done more prayers, made more Dua's. We also feel that we have done a lot of sins and that we have been lazy and have procrastinated much.

However all is not lost! A Muslim does not give up near the last few hurdles! There are still 7 days and nights to go and many scholars state that Laylatul Qadr is more likely to fall within the last seven nights:

Ibn 'Umar reported that a man among the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was shown Laytal al-Qadr in a dream, and that it was one of the last seven nights. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "It seems that your dreams agreed that it is one of the last seven nights, so whoever wants to seek it, let him seek it in the last seven nights." [Bukhari, 1911; Muslim, 1165] . Muslim reported: "Seek it in the last ten nights, and if any of you are weak or unable to do that, then let him not miss the last seven."

So we still have hope. We can still redeem what we lost of Ramadan so far. Therefore let us pray 2 raka'h Salaatul Tawbah and beg of Allah for forgiveness and for him to pardon us and then make a firm conviction that we will fulfill all of our obligatory duties upon Allah and leave our bad and sinful ways. Let us ask of Allah to bring us closer to him and for us to be guided to the straight path like those of whom he has favoured.

From this moment on let us recite as much of the Qur'an as we can with the meanings, pondering and implementing them into our lives . Let us remember and glorify Allah as much as we can. Let us make much Dua especially 20 minutes before fasting ends and before Suhur. Let us pray all the Taraweeh with the Imaam until he finishes. Let us open up to Allah and ask of him and beg of his mercy and forgiveness and be thankful, appreciative slaves of his. Let us ask of Allah to be saved from the punishment of the grave and Hellfire. Let us be obedient to parents and the best towards them, our partners, children, siblings, families, Muslims and non Muslims. Let us adopt the best manners like that of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and fully implement his Sunnah into our lives.

If we do not change now then when will we change? If we do not pray our prayers on time and have bad habits and are committing sins that are having a detrimental affect to our lives then there is no better opportunity to change like now!

So let us grab this opportunity so that we can be successful in this world and the next! Let us walk towards Allah so that he runs towards us. Let us get closer to Allah for he has been waiting for us to go towards him patiently.

If we do not grab this opportunity it may never come to us again as death may sieze us and then it will be too late!

Re: Regret For Wasting Ramadan so far!!!

Ramadan is almost over & many of us totally regret all the time we've wasted this Ramadan. However we must not give up hope! There are still a few blessed days & nights left & it is the opinion of many Sahaba & scholars that Laylatul Qadr is most likely to on 27th night.

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: "Laylat al-Qadr is the night of the twenty-seventh." [Musnad Ahmad & Sunan Abu Dawud, 1386]
Ubayy ibn Ka'b (Ra) used to assert that it was the night of the twenty-seventh without saying "insha'Allah". Zurr ibn Hubaysh asked him: "What makes you say that, O Abu'l-Mundhir?" He said: "by the signs of which the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) told us: that the sun rises that morning with no visible rays. [Narrated by Muslim,2/268] .

Ibn 'Abbas was asked about Laylatul Qadr, & he said: "I think I know when it is: it is the night of the twenty-seventh." 'Umar said, "What makes you think that?" He said, "Allah made the heavens seven, and the earths seven, and the days seven, and He created man from seven, and He made Tawaf seven (circuits), and al-Sa'i seven, and the stoning of the Jamar seven." So Ibn' Abbas thought that it was the night of the twenty-seventh because of this analysis. This has been soundly reported from Ibn 'Abbas.

So we must not waste a second of this blessed night for we may not see another Ramadan or Laylatul Qadr like so many who did not make it to Ramadan. If we know death can seize us at any moment then why are we living in this world like we are going to be here forever? So we must not let this opportunity pass without changing ourselves for the better & striving to get closer to Allah & for the Hereafter not this temporary life which can end for us at any moment.

May Allah enable us to make the best of the nights that remain. Ameen

Re: Regret For Wasting Ramadan so far!!!

As we approach the end of Ramadan then regardless of how negligent we have been throughout this month there is still time to change our ways, get closer to Allah and gain forgiveness for our past and present sins, as long as we make firm intention and conviction that we will never go back to the way we were and abandon the major sins and evils we commited previously:

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin.”(Ibn Majah, At-Tabarrani)

We know not if we will see another Ramadan and get such an opportunity again. Then how can we afford to miss this opportunity and waste what is left of this blessed month:

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: Verily Allah the Almighty will accept the repentance of his servants right until the last moments of his death (Tirmidhi)

We know not which second death may seize us so we must act now because if we want to change tomorrow then death may take us today!

Re: Regret For Wasting Ramadan so far!!!

We have been blessed with another precious night, day & fast of Ramadan. So how should we spend the last night & day?

We should spend it in making sincere Dua to Allah asking of him to forgive any short comings in our fasts & for our past & present sins.
Also to enable us to fulfill our Fard obligations unto him. For him to guide us making us strong against the whispers of shaythan & our Nafs (desires).

And for him to enable us to get closer to him glorifying & remembering him everyday not just in Ramadan.

Also dont't forget our Muslim brothers & sisters around the world for their pain & suffering to be alleviated & rewarded immensely for it & for us to unite as one unit.

Please also remember me in your dua's. Jzk

Re: Regret For Wasting Ramadan so far!!!

There was once a fire worshipper who saw his son eating in the presence of Muslims during the month of Ramadhaan. As soon as he saw his son eating before the Muslims, he hit him and reprimanded him saying, “Why do you not show regard for the sanctity and respect of the Muslims during the month of Ramadhaan?”

It so happened that the fire worshipper passed away that very week. Soon after he passed away, the ‘Aalim of that locality had a dream in which he saw the fire worshipper in Jannah! In the dream, he asked him, “Were you not a fire worshipper?” The man replied, “I was a fire worshipper. However, shortly before I passed away, Allah Ta‘ala honoured me, by inspiring me to accept Islam, due to the respect that I had shown for the month of Ramadhaan.”

Re: Regret For Wasting Ramadan so far!!!

Do you regret wasting most of Ramadan?

Hasan al-Basri (Ra) said: "Improve your performance in what is left & you will be forgiven for that which has already passed. So take special care of the time you have left because you do not know when your soul will be turned over to Allah’s Mercy.”

All is not lost so do not despair. There are still 7 nights left so its not too late to turn things around. So make firm intention right now to make the best of what remains! Make a plan of how you will spend the remaining days and nights and get rid of all distractions! Especially mobile phones and TV. Even if it is until Eid. For we will regret this valuable time we have wasted on petty things!
