    Itekaaf for 5 days

    Assalamoalaikum!
    I want to sit for itekaaf of 5 days. This is my first time actually. Can you please tell me exactly on which Ramadan am I supposed to sit? (Like 24th or 25th Ramadan etc.) And kindly mention the time to sit on the respective day.

    The Sunnah for I'tikaf is to sit for 10 days. If you sit for five days, it will be nafl.

    Normally it would start from the afternoon of 25th Ramadhan, just before iftar, until the last iftar when the new moon is announced. In this case, you may get either four days or five days depending on whether Ramadhan has 29 or 30 days. But if you start on 24th afternoon, then you may get either five days or six days.
