    How to end Ramadan?

Imagine if there was no Ramadan? We would be in permanent loss. We would have gone off the right track a long time ago with little hope. Allah in his mercy blesses us with Ramadan each and every year so we can get back on the right track again. So we can remember him and be more aware of him. So

Many of us will be excited to partake in the festivities of the night before Eid and on Eid day. But surely the last few precious hours/minutes of this blessed month and the night before Eid day should be spent in thanking Allah for enabling us to experience this blessed month and asking Allah to forgive us for any short comings and deficiencies in our fasts during this blessed month. Most of all we must continue with the positive changes we made during this blessed month.

So if we prayed all of our prayers then we must carry on as the prayer i our greatest obligation and the minimum we must do as Muslims. If we (the men) attended the Masjids more during this month then we must carry on attending the Masjid after Ramadan. This will continue to give us a sense of community and brotherhood that we felt during this blessed month.

If the sister started wearing hijaab and jilbaab and stopped wearing tight clothes and putting on excessive make up and perfume, then surely she must continue doing so for Allah loves it and what is better than what Allah loves?

If we lost our focus throughout the year to the worldly life and materialism then we must re-align our focus to that of pleasing Allah and yearning for the Hereafter.

If we neglected our hearts and allowed it to be continuously corrupted and blackened then we must cleanse it with the remembrance of Allah and refrain from the major sins and do good deeds.

If we neglected our Deen and did not obey Allah then we must make a firm commitment from this moment that we will try our best to obey Allah and make our focus to do everything in our lives that will please him and refrain from anything that may anger and displease him.

What is the point of Ramadan if we leave the good we acquired and went back to your old ways? Ramadan is not just for one month but it is for life. The way to know our Ramadan was accepted is to see whether we continue the positive changes after Ramadan. So let us spend the last few hours of Ramadan and before we go to sleep tonight thanking Allah and asking of him to forgive us for any short comings and deficiencies in our fasting and to forgive us for all of our past and present sins.

Therefore let us internalise now that we will make permanent and necessary changes to our lives from this moment on wards and focus on the Hereafter and to spend each day of our lives doing everything we can to please Allah and keep away from anything that may anger or displease him. Most of all that we will never go back to how we were before Ramadan!
