Nabi ﷺ said, “Search for lailatul Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan.” (Bukhari). Search is an instruction and anything Nabi ﷺ instructed is an act of worship. Worship is any act that leads to reward. Thus, making an attempt to spot lailatul Qadr (the night of power) is worship and has its own merit, blessings and rewards. Our akaabireen informed us of various signs. If they are found on a specific night, it indicates that it could be lailatul Qadr. Below are a few:

It is not too hot or cold outside. The temperature is just right.
You won’t hear dogs barking excessively.
The moon looks like half a “jafna” (i.e. half a plate).
The night is calm, serene and peaceful.
At the end of Ramadan, you may realise that on one particular night, you felt at greater peace/worship on that night felt a little more special.

Signs indicate towards the night but they do not hold a guarantee. Therefore, after searching, exert yourself every odd night with faith, sincerity and humility. Go the extra mile and then a mile further. Once done, have faith and conviction that you have found it. End Ramadan on this positive note, and this will secure you the rewards of this night and the entire Ramadan inshaAllah. Afterall, “Deeds [are rewarded] by their final actions.” (Bukhari)

Re: How do I know when it’s lailatul Qadr?

Allaah's Messenger , salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, described the morning after Lailatul-Qadr, so that the Muslim may know which night it was.

From Ubayy, radhiya Allahu 'anhu, who said: that he, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, said: "On the morning following Lailatui-Qadr the sun rises not having any rays, as if it were a brass dish, until it rises up."[Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmithi and Ibn Majah]

Abu Hurairah, radhiya Allahu 'anhu, said : "We were discussing Lailatul-Qadr in the presence of Allah's Messenger so he said : 'Which of you remembers [the night] when the moon arose and was like half a plate?... [Muslim]

Ibn 'Abbaas, radhiya Allahu 'anhuma, said: Allaah's Messenger, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, said: "Lailatul-Qadr is calm and pleasant, neither hot nor cold, the sun arises on its morning being feeble and red." [at-Tayaalisee, Ibn Khuzaimah and al-Bazzaar with a Hasan Isnad].

We will all only truly know once our deeds are presented to us and Almighty Allah shows us our deeds - but the biggest worry of all is - will our deeds be accepted?

Re: How do I know when it’s lailatul Qadr?

There was one serene late afternoon, evening, and night i noticed when i stayed in the village. The air wasn't moving, yet it was neither hot nor cold, it felt as if i could hear small rumbles and whooshing sounds as if beyond the clouds - a little like jets breaking the sound barrier with cracks in the distance, between around 'Asr and Maghrib. Allah knows best - but the energy in the body felt like it was calmly flowing through in a very powerful way without turmoil. It felt like the night, but then the internet articles were talking about American fighter jets leaving some far country and the whip crack sounds and rumbles they made as they left, and i wondered if it must have been something like that - or at least departure sounds that were being described in a non-commital way every time i thought about it that night.
It was only after waking up the next day and feeling the normal interference and sounds we feel every day that i was almost certain that the night before had been special and unique.

    Allah knows best.
If anyone notices anything unique - please add.

Re: How do I know when it’s lailatul Qadr?

I remember every Ramadan there is always a night in which something happens that never happens before and doesn't happen again.
But I was always more concerned about fasting properly and any act of worship I should do/can do, because the reward of fasting if accepted and any act of worship is also multiplied in Ramadan - so I never write it down, I never actually look for that night because I have read that it's not necessarily odd night, it can be even, basically any night in the last 10.

Jabir bin 'Abdullah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:'A slave (of Allah) shall not believe until he believes in Al-Qadar, its good and its bad, such that he knows that what struck him would not have missed him, and that what missed him would not have struck him." (Jami 'at Tirmidhi)
