when "they" say that the shayateen are locked up during ramadan then what issit that happens? what u benefit? coz im pretty (pretty pretty positive) sure that the shaitan is STILL OUT THER makin peoples do things haram, otherwise this world would be a heaven on earth right? but uglier.
and also ...
last time i checked ther were one shaytan not shayateen.
Should I seek a source of law other than God, when it is He Who has sent down unto you the Book (Qur'an) fully explained? And those whom We have given them the Book know that it has been sent down from the Lord with truth, so be not of those in doubt.
its Iblees that is locked up but his students are still loose. but Allah hu Alim,
I was told this in a Hadeeth lesson but I'll be honest with you, I do not remember the Hadith or the reference so don't rely on this as it is without reference best this is to ask a scholar.

jus ur confused sis again
wa 3alaikum assalam
Their are 2 opinions.
1) All shaaitans are locked up
2) All the "big ones" are locked up, but some still exist
To do haram, you do not need a shaaitan. Shaaitan is the influencer, like you could have had a bad friend in school who influenced you to do drugs - without the friend - it is still possible to do the sin.
Similarly, it is the nafs which cause you to do sin.

Ultimately, you are responsibly for your actions. The shaaitan cannot force you to do an action, you know what is right or wrong - so when the devil whispers ideas in your head - you have the knowledge to know what is right and wrong and hence it is not the devil which you can blame for your actions, but your imaan.
Imaan is affected by mental as well as physical practices.
For example, if you desire worldly pleasures so much that your Islam is becoming deficient - when you were told to live as a stranger - you are going to be walking away from the path of Islam. When you do actions, which you know Allah has forbidden. Simply, it is just personal desires and lack of practice or care. It is why you will find, the practicing brother or sis, who's really making an effort to go to the mosque, learn about the deen, read Qur'an - stay with good people and away from bad people will seem to feel far more closer to Allah and have an energised imaan.
If you focus on the afterlife, rather than whining about your current life, you will see difference.
Hoold up is ther anything that says that shaytan and nafs are different and tempted by two diff things? like nafs is by u and shaytan only tempts u to do something?? coz i read so many things that say SHAYTAN controls YOUR NAFS.

?
one more time ...
It is your responsibility to control your nafs, it is not in the shaaitans control.
The kind of waswaas (whispers) which tempts a person to listen to or look at haraam things or to commit immoral actions, and makes such things appear attractive to him, comes from three sources: the nafs or self which is inclined to evil (cf. Yoosuf 12:53), the devils among the jinn, and the devils among mankind.
