I think Umayah just a name of a clan, 'Bani Umayah'.
Why do you want to know sister ? because there were many persons from Bani Umayah in Islamic history ?
Jazzak Allahu khyran brother, well my younger brother had a baby girl 1 week today and hes considering of naming her Umayah.. But we got a totally differ meaning, apparently it means "narrater of the hadith".
Brother i lack in knowledge in Islamic history, but inshallah perhaps you could write more about the "Bani Umayah".
