Do Muslims have Qur'an study groups? (OP)

Let me ask a different way.....We Chritians have whats called "Bible study", where as a group of us, usually 12 too 16 meet after church or anyday we set, to discuss certian aspects of the Bible, Usually a single chapter in the Bible in depth.

    I will give an example:

Every monday i go to "Bible study fellowship" for men only. They do have a womens one seperatley.

This orginazation is world wide, meets at the same time everyday all over the world (depending on time zone) and studies the same lesson everywhere. This year we are doing the book of "John".

So i was wondering if Muslims have something similar to this?

If you do, is it possible for me as a Christian to sit in? Just to listen, for purely knowledge reasons?

We actually have had a couple of Muslims, who we le sit in on our discussions just so they could learn or study. We are happy to do that with no intentions attatched.

If the answer is no, i understand.

    Just wondering.

    Thank you for your replies

    God be with you all.

P.s. It may be a bad question, so you don't have to answer if you don't want to.

    Hi
I was a bit surprised to read that, I didn't know that. Seems like everytime I have a conversation/debate with a christian they have a different interpretation of verses and creed. Like a 100 christians have a 100 diffrent faiths. (no offence intended). So what are the rules/requirements of bible exegesis? Oh also, what denomination are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Well.....some Christians believe they can interpret things better than others....but we are supposed to, read the Bible and live by what it says and it's laws accordingly.

We are supposed to not interpret like we want it such as some do. Some would say they do anything for the people to help them understand for the new generation....that is wrong! they should teach the Bible, and they should listen.

I would have to say I am Protestant...but I come from an Italian Roman Catholic family so I lean more towards the traditional old world Christian views, like Eastern orthodox.

btw, i never mind any questions. there is no such thing as a bad question.....just a bad answer.

I'm one of those guys that put it all on the table and let someone decide for them selves what they think of me...I know I wont be judged by them anyway

And even when I do......some people still like me?

Re: Do Muslims have Qur'an study groups?

    Hi, thx for your answers.
Am I correct that your views about exegesis (that it is not allowed by opinion) comes from your inclination towards Catholic Christianity? In my first post, silly me, I had kind of assumed you were protestant, since you mentioned you're "smack in the middle of the bible belt". The looseness in interpretating verses I mentioned, is something that I've found mostly with protestants. Then again, I've barely debated/talked with Catholics on religion (which is Ironic since I live in a country which has a majority of Catholics. But I guess most Catholics here in Belgium either don't have a strong enough conviction to talk about religion, or prefer to hide in their cocoons.

Well it's hard to explain, I am Protestant......but i wish the Christianity of 1500 years ago was still around. I mentioned i came from a Roman Catholic family. I don't agree with some of the practices of Catholicism, like for instance , confesion: a Priest can forgive you for your sins by making you say a set amount of prayers.......That doesn't work for me....There is only one who can forgive my sins.

My story is long and exhausting.....but i can surely tell you anything you want and my story.......get some coffee its gonna be a long day

Namaste..or Vanakkam Brother Zakirs. I have been hearing that a lot lately. Even Zainab said she would have thought I was a Muslim had it not been the fact I wear a cross around my neck...well...and other things..but she saw me praying the other day while she was with my wife and was so supprised? She said I look like a Muslim when I pray?

    Idk.
