"Optimism is a strategy for making a better future. Because unless you believe that the future can be better, you are unlikely to step up and take responsibility for making it so."
"For everything the slave (of Allaah) loses, there is a substitute. But for the one who has lost Allaah, there is no substitute." [`Allaamah ibn al-Qayyim رحمة الله عليه.]
A wise man was told, "So-and-so has amassed a lot of wealth!" He asked, "Has he amassed days in which to spend it?" They said, "No." He said, "Then he hasn't amassed anything."
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “Allaah wrote down the decrees of creation fifty thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth.” He said: “And His Throne was upon the water.” (Muslim)
"No slave of Allah will truly believe until he believes in Al Qadr its good and bad from Allah, until he knows that what has befallen him was not going to miss him and that what missed him was not going to befallen him.'(Tirmidhi)
"Take precautions as everybody is guided to that which has been destined for him., i.e. you should drink to quench your thirst If something bad comes its because of our bad doings and if something good reaches us then it is from Allah grace."
"Whatever of good reaches you is from Allah and whatever of evil befalls you is from yourself."(4:79)

"What can my enemies do to me? My Jannah is in my heart; wherever I go, it goes with me. For me, being killed is Shahaadah (martyrdom); imprisonment is a chance to devote myself to `Ibaadah, and being exiled from my land is but a chance to travel."

It was the Muslim rulers of the time who had him imprisoned, though. Many people were jealous of him; many simply didn't understand his views; many disagreed because the things he was speaking (like Jihaad) went against their desires.
