I believe Jannah is guaranteed to he who is afflicted with a big calamity but then bears it with patience. For example, if a man loses two of his children.
It is pointless to watch other people's houses crumbling when our own house is in need of repair and attention.

If a person starts seeing the positive qualities in others and start seeing bad qualities in himself, he may try to improve himself. A person thinking himself as low and thinking that his sins are more and good deeds are less.
