Making Eid a Means of Dawah

    Assalamu-alaikum brothers and sisters,

This blessed month of Ramadaan has passed by all too soon, and in a few days it will be the joyous day of Eid-ul-Fitr, insha Allah.

Many of us spend the day of Eid with family and loved ones, and our only contact with others in the community may be in the form of an Eid-parcel of sweets/ sweet-meats that we distribute to our neighbours.

    This is good.
In fact, very often our neighbours are eagerly expecting that sweet platter from their muslim friends and neighbours : )

However, we can do even better.

We should be using EVERY possible opportunity to spread the message of Islam.

Our most beloved to us, Muhammed (sallalahu alaihi wasalam) said:

"Convey from me even if it be only a single ayah (that you know)." (Bukhari)

Now, my brothers and sisters, we may not be scholars and we may not possess a great deal of knowledge on all aspects of Islam.

But surely we do know at least ONE, SINGLE AYAT from Quraan, or a single hadith.

It is ALL of our duties to give dawah.
It may be the means of just that ONE line - that will be the catalyst for that person to seek more knowledge about Islam - and returning to the true path.

So, on this blessed day of Eid - what can we do?

    Some Ideas:
    1. Tag a little card/ note to your Eid parcel - with a beautifully inscripted ayat of Quraan (translated), or a hadith of Rasulalah (sallalahu alaihi wasalam).
    - Perhaps it will result in your non-muslim friend asking you about it.....and in this way, initiating a conversation about Islam.

    2. Dont forget the less-fortunate amongst us: distribute small bags of sweets/ chocolates to your old-age home/ hospital/ orphanage, etc - with the above card/ note added as well.
Or, if you have the means - including a translated version of Quraan, or a short pamphlet/ booklet on Islam in your gift pack.
Anything - that will draw the receivers attention towards contemplating about Islam and the purpose of this temporary life.

Not only will it bring a smile to the faces of those who may be in pain, feeling lonely and depressed - you are giving Dawah as well!

The old age homes should insha Allah, feature high on our list.
Here are individuals, closing in on this journey in this dunya (in fact, so are we all) - and we should be directing as much effort as possible in giving dawah - and insha Allah, they leave this world having said Shahada at least once in their lives - their ONLY ticket out of Jahannum, insha Allah.

    3. Bring up the topic of Ramadaan and Eid in your conversation with your collegues at work, friends, etc.

    4. At the end of your emails, include a foot-note with an ayat of Quraan/ hadith <--- We can use subliminal messaging too! : )

Please share any other ideas that you may have, insha Allah.

One day, when we are asked - what did we do for the non-muslim who lived next door to us; were we not concerned about his lack of imaan?........at least we can say, we tried!

Re: Making Eid a Means of Dawah

***Dont forget to do your part in Dawah today!****

No effort is too small, if its with the correct intention.

Oh Allah, you have blessed us with the greatest of all blessings - Imaan.
Oh Allah, make us the means of spreading this gift to others as well.
    Ameen.
