( First are the Asmaa’ullahi Al-Husna in Arabic only, then is Their transliteration and translation in English, followed by their explanation One By One)

Al-Aliyy(The Most High, the Sublime)

The absolute Highness is for Allah only and it is from all points of view. Some of the verses in which this beautiful name of Allah is mentioned are here in the form of their English translation:

Al-Baqarah, verse 255;

255. Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Surah Al-Hajj 62:

62. That is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the Most High, the Grand.

Surah Sabaa 23:

23 And intercession does not benefit with Him except for one whom He permits. [And those wait] until, when terror is removed from their hearts, they will say [to one another], "What has your Lord said?" They will say, "The truth." And He is the Most High, the Grand.

Allah is very high from all points of view. A few points are mentioned here:

Personally; Although Allah is free from place and time so that Allah is everywhere at all times due to Allah’s knowledge and power!!! Yet for our understanding, Allah has fixed a place and has told us in the Holy Quraan that Allah’s Thrown is above the 7 heavens and Allah is above the Thrown. Read the translation of the following verses:

Surah Al-Mulk 16, 17;

16. Do you feel secure that He (Allah), Who is over the heaven, will not cause the earth to swallow you, then behold it shakes (as in an earthquake)?

17. Or do you feel secure that He (Allah), Who is over the heaven, will not send against you a storm of stones? Then you shall know how (terrible) has been My Warning?

Surah Taha5;

5. The Most Beneficent (Allah) Istawa (rose over) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty).

Allah is very High in HIS qualities and Attributes --- none has qualities like HIM. Even no one can reach the height of a single quality of Allah.

Allah’s Highness is absolute in subjugating (overpowering) others. All others are Allah’s creation and they all submit to Allah willingly or unwillingly as everything is in Allah’s Control. So nothing can move or remain stationary without Allah’s permission. What Allah wills, happens and what Allah wills not, doesn’t happen.

Allah’s Highness over the creation is proved in many ways. The Holy Quraan has got more than a thousand proofs of the Highness of Allah. A few are here:

English translation of the verses of;

Surah Al-An’aam18;

18. And He is the Irresistible (Omnipotent), above His slaves, and He is the All-Wise, Well-Acquainted with all things.

Allah Commands from above and du’aa, requests and actions of the slaves climb up to Allah Almighty from below. See the translation of the following verses of the Holy Quraan:

Surah Al-Sajdah (As-sajdah) 5;

5. He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him in a Day, the extent of which is a thousand years of those which you count.

Surah Al-Ma’arij, 4;

4. The angels and the Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] ascend to Him in a Day the measure where of is fifty thousand years,

Surah Faatir 10;

10. If any do seek for glory and power, -to Allah belong all glory and power. To Him ascend (all) Words of Purity: It is He Who exalts each Deed of Righteousness. Those that lay Plots of Evil,- for them is a Penalty terrible; and the plotting of such will perish.

From Abu Hurairah, he said: The Prophet sall Allaahu' alaihi wa sallam said: "Whoever gives sadaqah worth a palm date from the good business results (halal)-while nothing will ever ascend to God except the clean (halaal), Allah will accept it with His Right Hand, then Allah takes care for it for the giver as anyone of you maintain a young colt, so the sadaqa (charity) increases until it becomes like a mountain ".

The Hadeeth means that: 1.To Allah rise only clean (lawful) things/deeds. 2. Allah accepts it and increases it for the giver of this charity. 3. It is given justly, i.e. according to the status of the giver, so if he can give only one date and Allah knows his status, then Allah accepts it and increases it for him in reward which can be as much as a mountain, reward only for one date. (This explanation is from me, may Allah forgive me for any mistake, aameen).

The Holy Quraan came down from Allah and the Prophet Eesa (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) was lifted up to heaven by the Command of Allah.

Due to faith in this Attribute of Allah Almighty we, Muslims, become humble and low in front of Allah. We will stand for worship with great respect and fear of Allah believing that Allah is very High, above any defect or fault. We will keep far away from any type of shirk (associating anyone with Allah), and we shall make our worship very pure for Allah. Thus we will be, insha Allah, successful.

Al-Kabeer

(The Most Great and The Most High)

Allah's greatness is in all ways. The translation of some of the verses having this beautiful name of Allah is here:

Surah Luqman30;

30. That is (so) because Allah is the Truth, and that what they call upon other than Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the Most High, the Grand.

SurahGhaafir 12;

12. [They will be told], "That is because, when Allah was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with Allah, the Most High, the Grand."

This is due to the Greatness of Allah that the heavens are held up in their high position without any apparent support; if Allah lets it fall then no one will be able to hold them up.

This is also the Greatness of Allah that on the Day of Resurrection, the heavens and the earth shall be in Allah’s hands. See the translation of Al-Zumar (Az-Zumar) verse 67:

67. They made not a just estimate ofAllah such as is due to Him. And on the Day of Resurrection the whole of the earth will be grasped by His Hand and the heavens will be rolled up in His Right Hand. Glorified is He, and High is He above all that they associate as partners with Him!

The earth and the mountains are quiet and stable so we live and work with comfort. This is due to the Mercy of Allah, otherwise, If Allah, The Most High and Great orders the earth to shake, we will be caught up by a forceful earth quake!!! If Allah so wills, the earth will swallow us all.

The Prophet(Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) used to say in his rukou (bowing) and sujoud (prostrations) Subhaan dhel-Jabaroot, wal- Malakoot, wal- Kibriyaa’i, wal-Azmati.
(Ahmad, abu Dawood and Al-Nisaa’ee)

On one side all Greatness is for Allah and it is the right of Allah to be worshipped. On the other side, there is none (no being and nothing) having greatness and so no other than Allah has the right to be worshipped. Worship includes obedience. In fact worship has a few kinds. Rituals, du’aa, following the Laws and Commands of Allah and obedience to Allah and Allah’s Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him), all of these are different forms of Ibaadah (worship) to Allah.

Satan didn’t prostrate to Adam alaihi salaam and thus disobeyed Allah’s Command. The reason that Satan told was that he (the satan) considered himself greater than Adam alaihi salaam, so much greater that he stood up to challenge Allah Almighty. So Satan became mutakabbir and kaafir. That means he showed his greatness without his right to do istikbaar. As a result of this haughtiness he became the dweller of Hell forever. There is a lesson for us in this story of Satan. Anyone from the creature has no right to show greatness and arrogance. In reality, all Greatness is for Allah alone.
What befits human beings and other creations is that we all humble ourselves and make ourselves low in front of Allah. When a person makes himself low in front of Allah, Allah gives him/her honor and lifts them up in ranks.

The Greatness of Allah demands from us that our hearts and tongues become full of honor and respect for Allah, the hearts start fearing Allah and then both of the heart and tongue do zikar, shukur and astaghfar to Allah, that we obey HIM and abstain from disobedience, remember HIM and not forget HIM, keep away from ingratitude to HIM and follow HIS Commands and Laws.

Daily prayers are a very special form of worshipping. Our prayers start with Allaho-Akbar and also we say Allaho-Akbar every time when we change from one position to other in the prayer. Takbeer accompanies a Muslim in all forms of worship, Adhaan (call for prayer) starts and ends with Allaho Akbar, we start and break our fast with Adhan. The Muslims say takbeeraat during Hajj, on Eids and also during fighting with the enemies.

Allah said in the verses 185 of surah Al-Baqarah and verse 37 of surah Al-Hajj (the English translation of these verses is):

185.The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Saum (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah [i.e. to say Takbir(Allahu-Akbar; Allah is the Most Great) on seeing the crescent of the months of Ramadan and Shawwal] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him.

SurahAl-Hajj 37:

37.It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him. Thus have We made them subject to you that you may magnify Allah for His Guidance to you. And give glad tidings (O Muhammad SAW)to the Muhsineen (doers of good).

Allaho-Akbar means, “Allah is the Greatest (nothing is greater than Allah)”. It is said that in Arabic language, the greatest words for honor, respect and jalaal are Allaho-Akbar. Al-Akbar is the superlative degree of Kabeer.

Al-Hafeez

(The Protecter, The Preserver, The Guardian)

Another related name is Al-Haafiz.

Some of the verses of the Holy Quraan Which have this beautiful name of Allah are from surah Houd 57, Sabaa 21, Al-Anbiyaa 82. Their English translation is:

Surah Houd (Hud) 57:

57. But if they turn away, [say], "I have already conveyed that with which I was sent to you. My Lord will give succession to a people other than you, and you will not harm Him at all. Indeed my Lord is, over all things, Guardian."

Surah Sabaa, 21:

21. And he (Iblis Satan) had no authority over them, except that We might test him, who believes in the Hereafter from him who is in doubt about it. And your Lord is a Hafiz over everything. (All Knower of everything i.e. He keeps record of each and every person as regards deeds, and then He will reward them accordingly).

Surah Al-Anbiyaa, 82:

82. And of the Shayatin (devils) (from the jinns) were some who dived for him, and did other work besides that; and it was We Who guarded them.

Allah has the Quality of protecting everything that needs and deserves protection. This protection can be explained under two headings:

1. Allah preserves and remembers all of the information and knowledge about everything and being. In other words Allah does not forget anything. As Allah said in surah Maryam verse 64, the translation of the verse is:

64: [Gabriel said], "And we [angels] descend not except by the order of your Lord. To Him belongs that before us and that behind us and what is in between. And never is your Lord forgetful -

Allah keeps the actions /deeds of all people protected from any loss. Allah appointed special angels called Kiraaman kaatibeen (the honorable writers) to make record of all good and bad actions and sayings/words of each and every person along with their intention behind the words/actions, and keeps all those records safe and protected from any change or loss. This protection of the actions/words recorded is to encompass the open and hidden actions of the slaves/servants. These books of deeds are kept safe in the Lohi Mahfooz for the Day of Accounting when everyone shall be rewarded or punished with justice according to everyone’s book of deeds.

2. Allah protects HIS creation from the heaven to the earth so that no harm happens to them as Allah said in surah Al-Baqarah, 255, the English translation is:

255. Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber, nor sleep overtake Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter . And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

[This Verse 2:255 is called Ayat-ul-Kursi.]

(The underlined portion of the verse means Allah is protecting all of HIS creation and is not tired due to all that work.)

Allah Almighty is holding up the heavens in high position and is protecting them from falling down on the earth. Allah said in surah Al-Hajj, 65 (the translation is):

65. See you not that Allah has made subservient unto you (mankind) all that is on the earth, and the ships that sail through the sea by His Command? He withholds the heaven from falling on the earth except by His Leave. Verily, Allah is, for mankind, full of Kindness, Most Merciful.

Allah is protecting the Holy Quraan from changing as Allah said in surah al-Hijr, 9 (its English translation is):

9. Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption).

So no change was possible in the text of the Holy Quraan in the last 1447 years and shall not happen in future.

Also Allah protects His creation (human beings) This protection is, (a) common to Muslims and non-Muslims as well as to our food,water and air. There is too much to write but due to shortage of time, only a few examples:

Our tongue in between the rows of teeth, remains safe from the chewing of teeth!

Oxygen in the air is restored and preserved for our breathing every day by photosynthesis in the green leaves of trees. If this was not done, oxygen would finish and we all would be dead!!!

Stomach releases HCl (Hydro Chloric Acid) for the digestion of all food but the muscular wall of the stomach itself is safe from getting digested!!!

(b). Also there is special protection from Allah for Allah’s friends (awliyaa). Allah protects their faith and good actions as well as their physique, property and wealth. They try themselves and pray to Allah for protection. Allah praises them for their attempts and protects them here and in the hereafter.

We must always pray to Allah to protect our faith of Islam and our Islamic actions as well as to protect us from diseases, accidents and harmful animals etc. Also we must pray to Allah to protect our homes, property and lawful wealth.

Al-Muqeet

(The Nourisher, The Controller)

This beautiful name of Allah came in the verse 85 of surah Al-Nisaa (An-Nisaa). The English translation of the verse is:

85. Whosoever intercedes for a good cause will have the reward thereof, and whosoever intercedes for an evil cause will have a share in its burden. And Allah is Ever All-Able to do (and also an All-Witness to) everything.

Allah provides to every one of HIS creation its strength, its sustenance and whatever it/he/she needs, and watches and controls them according to Allah’s wisdom and knowledge. Allah said in surah Houd verse 6, (its English translation is):

6. And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision, and He knows its place of dwelling and place of storage. All is in a clear register.

Thus Allah sends power to His creature and distributes provision to all of the big and small creatures.

For the creatures, Allah managed the power/strength and provision by ordaining it in the earth during its creation as Allah said in surah Fussilat 10, its English translation is:

10. (41:10) (After creating the earth) He set up firm mountains on it, blessed it,¹¹ and provided it with sustenance in proportion to the needs of all who seek (sustenance). ¹² All this was done in four days.¹³

Exp.note 11:

Blessings of the earth imply those measureless and countless things which have been continuously coming out of it since millions and millions of years, and are fulfilling the ever increasing needs and requirements of all the creatures from the microscopic germs to the highly civilized man. Among these the principal blessings are the air and the water by which alone vegetable, animal and then human life became possible on the earth.

(This exp. note 11 and translation of this verse 10 of surah Fussilat is from Tafheemul-Quraan at tafheem.net (towards understanding Quraan. ) The other name of the surah Fussilat is Ha-Meem Al-Sajdah.

Thus Allah managed all of the necessities of the dwellers of the earth like land for cultivation, water, plants and crops; businesses and their profits and losses etc. in the very beginning.

There are also other meanings of Al-Muqeet as Ibn. Katheer said in the tafseer of the verse 85 of surah Al-Nisaa:

Ibn.Abbaas, Ataa, Atiyyah, Qatada and Matar Al-Waraaq said that Muqeeta means Hafeeza (Guardian). Mujaahid said that it means Haseeba (The One Who takes the account.)

Sa’eed Bin Jubair, Suddi and Ibn. Zaid said that it means Qadeera (The One Who has power over all things).

It is possible that “Al-Muqeet” gives all of the above meanings as Allah Almighty has complete knowledge about HIS servants /creature/ creation and also about their circumstances and knows whatever they need. So it is Allah who strengthens the bodies of the servants by food/provision and strengthens their hearts (whomever HE wants) with knowledge and faith.

Al-Haseeb

This Beautiful name of Allah has the following meanings:

1. From hasaba= to count, Thus each and every action of every person is counted and recorded, nothing is hidden from Allah. Allah is Al-Haseeb, i.e. the ONE WHO is the Reckoner and will call all of us to account. Allah said in surah Al-Nisaa (An-Nisaa) verse 6, its English translation is:

6. And test orphans (as regards their intelligence) until they reach the age of marriage; if then you find sound judgement in them, release their property to them, but consume it not wastefully, and hastily fearing that they should grow up, and whoever amongst guardians is rich, he should take no wages, but if he is poor, let him have for himself what is just and reasonable (according to his work). And when you release their property to them, take witness in their presence; and Allah is All-Sufficient in taking account.

Also Allah said in the verse 86 of the same surah, the English translation is:

86.When you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return it equally. Certainly, Allah is Ever a Careful Account Taker of all things.

Hasab also means to be sufficient. Allah said in surah Al-Anfaal verse 64, its English translation is:

(8:64) O Prophet! Allah is sufficient for you and the believers who follow you.

We must fear the Day of Judgement and Accounting. Allah is the Most Merciful and the Forgiving, but in case we are unjust (may Allah protect us) then Allah is the Haseeb i.e is the Reckoner. So we must keep this point in mind and struggle hard to stay away from injustice to protect ourselves from the hard Accounting on that hard Day.

We can also use this beautiful name in the du’aa:

Hasbi-Yallah, and Hasbunallahu wa ne’mal Wakeel.

Al-Jaleel

(The Majestic, the Sublime)

Allah is so much Magnificent that we are bound to look for HIS Mercy. We Muslims must live between fear and hope. Our fear must be from Allah due to Allah’s Jalaal, Greatness, Power and Majesty and our hope must be due to Allah’s Mercy. The related name is Dho-Al-Jalaali wa Al-Ikraam. The name Jalaal is coming with Ikraam to give us hope of Allah’s Grace, Kindness and Mercy. But the Name Jalaal and Jaleel gives us fear due to Allah’s Greatness. Similarly, Allah’s name Al-Azeez comes with another name like Raheem, Hakeem (Azeezur-Raheem and Azeezul-Hakeem)to create a balance for us. This is because the name Al-Azeez indicates the Might of Allah, that Allah is All-Mighty which gives us fear of Allah. Then the Al-Raheem gives us hope of Allah’s Mercy so that we can live between the fear of Allah and the hope of Allah’s Mercy.

Allah said in surah al-Hijr verses 49—50 (their English translation is):

49.Declare (O Muhammad SAW) unto My slaves, that truly, I am the Oft-Forgiving,the Most-Merciful.

50. And that My Penalty is indeed the most grievous Penalty.

So we, the servants and creation of Allah, Must fear His Jalaal and must pray and hope for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.

Also this name means that “Allahu yujillu awliyaa’ahoo wa yuazzimuhoo bena – ibaadihee”, i.e. Allah gives dignity and honor to those who support HIS cause and obey and follow HIS Commands. Allah will give them light on the Day when everyone shall be looking for light.

Read the translation of the verse 8 of surah Al-Tahreem (At-Tahreem):

8. O ye who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance: In the hope that your Lord will remove from you your ills and admit you to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow,- the Day that Allah will not permit to be humiliated the Prophet and those who believe with him. Their Light will run forward before them and by their right hands, while they say,"Our Lord! Perfect our Light for us, and grant us Forgiveness: for YOU have power over all things."

A believer must always adopt the attitude of fearing Allah and hoping HIS Mercy and should say the following du’aa:

“Allahumma innee a’oudhu biridaaka min sakhatika wabi-af’wika min aqoubatika wa a’oudhu bika minka, laa manjaata minka illa ilek.”

Its translation is:

Ya Allah, I seek refuge with your pleasure from your anger, and with your forgiveness from your punishment, and I seek refuge with you from you because there is no way (of escape) except (the way) to you.

Al-Kareem, ---Al-Akram

(The Most Generous, The Most Bountiful)

The verses of the Holy Quraan which have these beautiful names are from the surah Al-Namal (An-Namal), Al-Infitaar, Al-Mo’minoon and Al-Alaq. The name “Al-Akram” comes in the verse 3 of the surah Al-Alaq. The English translation of these verses is:

Surah Al-Namal (An-Namal) 40:

40. One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture said: "I will bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye!" then when [Sulaiman (Solomon)] saw it placed before him, he said: "This is by the Grace of my Lord to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! And whoever is grateful, truly, his gratitude is for (the good of) his ownself, and whoever is ungrateful, (he is ungrateful only for the loss of his ownself). Certainly! My Lord is Rich (Free of all wants), Bountiful."

Surah Al-Infitaar 6:

6. O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,

Surah Al-Mo’minoon 116:

116. Therefore exalted is Allah, the King, the Reality: there is no god but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour!

Surah Al-Alaq 3: “Iqra’ Wa Rabbukal Akram”

3. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous,

This name has vast meanings. Some of them are mentioned here.

1. Lots of good, benefits and blessings given by HIM to the slaves/servants.

2. Always bestowing HIS blessing on the servants.

3. For Allah is the Absolute Supremacy and Honor.

4. Allah is High above any defect.

5. The ONE WHO gives blessings without any exchange for them i.e. HE (Allah) provides blessings to the servants and doesn’t take anything in exchange from them.

6. The ONE WHO provides even without cause. HE provides to those who need and also to those without need.

7. The ONE to WHOM reach small and big, all applications/supplications (du’aas) of the needies.

8. The ONE WHO doesn’t return a needy (with du’aa/application for help) empty handed.

9. The ONE WHO always fulfills HIS Promise.

All of the above are the great qualities of none except Allah! Allah is Ghanee and Kareem, (free from any need /want, and is very Kind) to the creation as we are all needy and depend upon Allah’s Karam.

Allah also gave this quality of karam (honor and generosity) to the followings as mentioned in the Holy Quraan, (only the English translation of the verses is given).

a). To HIS BOOK.

Surah Al-Waqi’ah 77: “Innahoo laqur’aanun kareem”

77. That this is indeed a qur'an Most Honourable,

b). To Allah’s Thrown.

Surah Al-Mo’minoon 116:

116. Therefore exalted is Allah, the King, the Reality: there is no god but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour!

c). The Blessings and the Reward to the practicing believers is also honored:

Surah Al-Anfaal 4: “…… Lahum darajaatun inda Rabbihim wa maghfiratun wa rizqun kareem”

4. It is they who are the believers in truth. For them are grades of dignity with their Lord, and Forgiveness and a generous provision (Paradise).

Surah Al-Nisaa ( An-Nisaa), 31:

31. If you avoid the great sins which you are forbidden to do, We shall remit from you your (small) sins, and admit you to a Noble Entrance (i.e. Paradise).

7. Do they not look at the earth,- how many noble things of all kinds We have produced therein?

From this beautiful name of Allah we must take the following lessons:

1. We must be very thankful to Allah and must remember and praise HIM a lot. We must ask only Allah for our needs.

2. When we see HIS Karam (Kindness, Beauty and Generosity) directly or indirectly, in the beauty of the world, we must turn to Allah, praise HIM, worship Him and pay thanks to HIM.

3. We must be generous and kind to our relatives, neighbors, and friends, and to all around us.

Written as Al-Raqeeb ( to be read as Ar-Raqeeb)

(The Watchful One)

The verses of the Holy Quraan having this beautiful name of Allah are from surah Al-Nisaa (An-Nisaa) 1, Al-Ahzaab 52, and Al-Ma’idah 117. Their English translation is:

(4:1) O men! Fear your Lord Who created you from a single being and out of it created its mate; and out of the two spread many men and women.¹ Fear Allah in Whose name you plead for rights, and heed the ties of kinship. Surely, Allah is ever watchful over you.

Exp. note 1:

1. What are the mutual rights of human beings, what are the principles on which a sound and stable family life can be established, are questions that are discussed a little further on in this surah. As an appropriate introduction to the subject, the surah opens by exhorting the believers to fear God and to avoid courting His displeasure, and by urging them to recognize that all human beings have sprung from the same root and that all of them are, therefore, of one another's flesh and blood. The expression 'Who created you from a single being (nafs)' indicates that the creation of the human species began with the creation of one individual. At another place, the Qur'an specifies that the one person from whom the human race spread in the world was Adam. (For Adam being the progenitor of mankind see Towards Understanding the Qur'an, (Surah 2, verses 31 f.) and (Surah al-A'raf: 11), etc. - Ed.)

The details how out of that 'being' its mate was created are not known to us. The explanation which is generally given by the commentators of the Qur'an and which is also found in the Bible is that Eve was, created out of a rib of Adam. (The Talmud is even more detailed in that it states that Eve was created out of Adam's thirteenth rib on the left side.) The Qur'an, however, is silent on the matter and the tradition which is adduced in support of this statement does not mean what it is often thought to be. It is thus better that we leave the matter in the same state of ambiguity in which it was left by God, rather than waste our time trying to determine, in detail, the actual process of the creation of man's mate.

Surah Al-Ahzaab 52:

(33:52) Thereafter women will not be lawful for you, and it will not be lawful for you to take other wives in place of them, even though their beauty might please you,⁹³unless they be those whom your right hand owns.⁹⁴ Allah is watchful over everything.

Surah Al-Ma’idah 117:

(5:117) I said to them nothing except what You commanded me, that is: 'Serve Allah, my Lord and your Lord.' I watched over them as long as I remained among them; and when You did recall me, then You Yourself became the Watcher over them. Indeed, You are Witness over everything.

This verse can be understood by the context. Therefore, read the translation of the verse before it, that is verse 116:

(5:116) And imagine when thereafter Allah will say: 'Jesus, son of Mary, did you say to people: "Take me and my mother for gods beside Allah?"¹³⁰ and he will answer: "Glory to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right to. Had I said so, You would surely have known it. You know all what is within my mind whereas I do not know what is within Yours. You, indeed You, know fully all that is beyond the reach of human perception.

The meanings of the above verses and their context, as well as the exp. note 1 of the surah Al-Nisaa will give you an idea of the meaning of Al-Raqeeb. We understand that by this name we must fear Allah who is not only a Watcher on us but also has appointed watcher angels on each and every person to make a record of deeds of every person and that record shall be a witness on us on the Day of Judgment!!!

So Allah is a Watcher on all of us as Allah hears all that we say, and sees all that we do. Allah is The All-Hearing and All-Seeing and also watches what is hidden in our hearts and minds because Allah’s Knowledge encompasses everything, internal and external in darkness and light!!!

When a Muslim believes in the muraaqibah of Allah on him (Allah’s watching him) and that nothing internal or external is hidden from Allah, then he / she will watch his/her own words, actions and even thoughts in his/her mind. He /she will try to do things according to the pleasure of Allah and will abstain from all words, actions and thoughts that make Allah angry. Thus he will fear from Allah’s watching at every place and time and even from an unjust thought and his interior and exterior both will become very clean and poise insha-Allah.

Allah said in surah Al-Hadeed 4, its translation is;

4. He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and is moreover firmly established on the Throne (of Authority). He knows what enters within the earth and what comes forth out of it, what comes down from heaven and what mounts up to it. And He is with you wheresoever you may be. And Allah sees well all that you do.

And the translation of surah Ghaafir 19 is:

19. Allah knows the fraud of the eyes, and all that the hearts conceal.

In a long hadeeth in Muslim, narrated by Umar rAa, Jibreel alaihi salaam asked Muhammad salla Allaho alaihi wa sallam about “Al-Ihsaan” (performing actions, especially the acts of worship, in a perfect manner).

He salla Allaho alaihi wa sallam replied: “It is to worship Allah as though you were seeing HIM and in the belief that although you are not seeing HIM, yet truly HE sees you”.

Faith in this great name of Allah and then the watch on one’s own words, actions and thoughts results in high level of taqwa (fear of Allah and obedience to HIM) and then even in this life the Muslim gets a type of satisfaction and pleasure. Such a Muslim is pleased with Allah being his Rabb (Lord, Provider), Islam his deen (religion), and Muhammad salla Allaho alaihi wa sallam his Prophet and Messenger. According to a hadeeth shareef, such a Muslim then tastes / feels the pleasure of his eemaan (the faith of Islam).

Ibn. Al-Qayyim (a great scholar) said that when a Muslim’s heart feels pleasure with the remembrance of Allah and Allah’s obedience, then such pleasure is a blessing greater than all worldly blessings. This pleasure can be felt but cannot be expressed in words. Such a Muslim loves Allah and Allah’s Messenger more than anyone. His love for a person is for the sake of Allah, he hates to return to unbelief from which Allah protected him, just as he hates to go into the Fire. So he proceeds towards Paradise.

Al-Mujeeb (The Responder to Prayer)

This beautiful name of Allah came in the verse 61 of surah Hud. Its translation is:

61. And to Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. He has produced you from the earth and settled you in it, so ask forgiveness of Him and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is near and responsive."

This name is a proof that Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala hears du’aa (Supplication) of the servants and accepts and answers their prayers. Allah doesn’t return a needy or beggar empty-handed. Allah encouraged us to supplicate to HIM. Even Allah gave du’aa the status of ibaadah (worship). So we must ask du’aa only from Allah because only Allah has the right to be worshiped. Also the fact is that none except Allah can provide our needs and no one other than Allah can solve our problems or make us successful to achieve our aims. All the creation including mankind are needy and fuqara (beggars) to Allah. We do make prayers for many things like eemaan (faith), guidance of the right path, sustenance, health, success in our good aims, also du’aa for our children, parents, relatives, and for the whole Ummah at large. We also pray for the forgiveness of our sins and protection from the Hell-Fire in the Hereafter. No matter how vast are our demands and supplications, Allah accepts our du’aa and fulfils our needs. This is a proof of the unique Power of Allah and the vastness of Allah’s treasures. Allah provides all of the creatures plus human beings plus the Jinn, but neither Allah becomes tired nor Allah’s treasures decrease in the least!!!

There is a hadeeth Al-Qudsee in Muslim, which says:

“O MY Ibaad (servants, slaves), if all of you, the former and the latter, the humans and jinn stand up in a single plane / field and ask ME (for your needs), and I gave to all what they asked for, nothing will be reduced from MY Treasures just like the decrease in an ocean when a needle is immersed into it (then taken out)”!!!

One shouldn’t say,”O Allah forgive me if YOU want”. Rather he/she must pray with humbleness and must ask Allah to fulfil his/her need.

Allah said in the verse 186 of surah Al-Baqarah (its English translation is):

186. And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.

A unanimous hadeeth informs us saying, “Our Rabb Tabaarak wa Ta’aala descends to the heaven of this world ( the visible sky) every night when one-third of the night remains, and says, : any who supplicates to ME, I will respond to him, who wants from ME (his need) I will provide it to him, who says astaghfirullah to ME (wants forgiveness of his sins), I will forgive him.”
(Unanimous hadeeth).

Some of the worshipping and righteous people say that they prayed to Allah but their prayers were not answered. The answer is that the response to supplications may happen in many different ways. Sometimes a du’aa is answered at once and exactly in the form that the supplicant prayed for. Sometimes its answer gets delayed due to hikmah (wisdom), but it does come. Sometimes the response is not exactly the same as the servant prayed for, but another better thing is given in response to the prayer. While in some cases due to hikmah, the answer will be left to the Hereafter.

According to a hadeeth in Bukhari and Al-Imam Ahmad, whenever a Muslim supplicates and his supplication is not for sinful thing or for the cutting of the relations of kinship, he is certainly given one of the three things,: Is responded quickly with the thing he wanted, or the response to him is postponed to the Hereafter, or an evil is removed from him / (he is protected from some evil happening).

The belief in this name of Allah makes a Muslim hopeful from Allah and gets protected from hopelessness. Why shouldn’t a Muslim be hopeful from the Kind Rabb Who is Al-Jawaad (The Generous), Al-Kareem and Al-Muhsin; and Allah is the OWNER of all Kingdom and everything, has the power to do whatever HE wills and whenever HE wills to do it. HIS is the creation and HIS is the Command:

29. Of Him seeks (its need) every creature in the heavens and on earth: every day in (new) Splendour doth He (shine)!

Surah Al-Rahmaan (Ar-Rahmaan)

Al-Wasi’

(The Ample-Giving,The All-Comprehending)

This beautiful name of Allah came in the Holy Quraan in many places. Some of them are given here as the English translation of the verses.

Surah Al-Baqarah 115 and 247:

115. And to Allah belongs the east and the west. So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face of Allah. Indeed, Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

247. And their Prophet (Samuel ) said to them, "Indeed Allah has appointed Talut (Saul) as a king over you." They said, "How can he be a king over us when we are better fitted than him for the kingdom, and he has not been given enough wealth." He said: "Verily, Allah has chosen him above you and has increased him abundantly in knowledge and stature. And Allah grants His Kingdom to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompassing (in favor), All-Knower."

Its meanings are vast. All of Allah’s attributes are All- Encompassing and All-Comprehending. No one can comprehend the greatness of Allah’s Qualities. Only Allah can comprehend Allah’s great Qualities and Praises. Allah’s Greatness is All –Encompassing, HIS Sovereignty and Authority, HIS Kingdom, HIS Grace and Bounties, HIS Generosity and Kindness, and---, and---- are all very much vast!!!

Regarding the vastness of Allah’s Knowledge, Allah said in the following verses (their English translation is):

Surah Al-An’aam 80:
80. And his people argued with him. He (Ibraheem alaihi salaam) said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me? And I do not fear those whom you associate with Him ( in His divinity) [and I will not be harmed] unless my Lord should will something. My Lord encompasses all things in knowledge; then will you not remember?

Surah Taha 98:

98. Your god is only Allah, except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge."

Regarding the Vastness of the Mercy of Allah:

Surah Al-Araaf 156:

156 .And decree for us in this world [that which is] good and [also] in the Hereafter; indeed, we have turned back to You." [ Allah ] said, "My punishment - I afflict with it whom I will, but My mercy encompasses all things." So I will decree it [especially] for those who fear Me and give zakah and those who believe in Our verses -

Concerning rizaq (sustenance) Allah Almighty said:

Surah Al-Nisaa (An-Nisaa):

130. But if they separate (by divorce), Allah will provide abundance for everyone of them from His Bounty. And Allah is Ever All-Sufficient for His creatures' need, All-Wise.

Surah Al-Noor (An-Noor) 32:

32. And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

Regarding Allah’s forgiveness for the servants, Allah said in surah Al-Najam (An-Najam) 32:

32. Those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, except the small faults .Indeed, your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He was most knowing of you when He produced you from the earth and when you were fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him.

About providing reward to the obedient believers, Allah said in the surah Al-Baqarah 261:

261. The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

While obligating duties on the believers Allah said in the surah Al-Baqarah 286:

286. Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."

In short, the name Al-Wasi’ which indicates the vastness in all good qualities of Allah is such that we cannot describe it in our words. We must believe in this name of Allah and must pray to Allah like Allah has taught us in the above verse.We should recite the last 2 verses of surah Al-Baqarah (i.e. 285—286) every night.

Al-Hakeem (the All- Wise)

This beautiful name of Allah Almighty came in the Holy Quraan about a hundred times (I didn’t count it myself). The English translation of some of the verses is:

Surah Al-An’aam 18 (English translation):

18. And He is the Irresistible, above His slaves, and He is the All-Wise, Well-Acquainted with all things.

Surah Al-Nisaa (An-Nisaa) 26 (English translation):

26. Allah wants to make clear to you [the lawful from the unlawful] and guide you to the [good] practices of those before you and to accept your repentance. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.

Also Allah said in surah Al-Baqarah 228:

…..Wa-Allaho Azeezun- Hakeem. (And Allah is the Mighty and the Wise).

And in the surah Al-Nisaa (An-Nisaa), 130 (The English translation is):

130. But if the spouses do separate, Allah will make each one of them independent of the other by HIS Vast Powers, for HIS resources are limitless and HE is All-Wise and All-Knowing.

Allah is the All-wise and a Judge of the Judges. Hikma that is the wisdom can appear in a saying which is quite suitable for that time, place and the occasion. Only then it is a blessing. Otherwise, if the saying is not proper at the occasion, then it may prove to be a trouble. So with us the Saying of Allah is the Holy Quraan which is manifestly full of Wisdom.

The second thing is the creation of Allah. We can see that the whole universe which is the creation of Allah is made and managed with extreme wisdom. There is a unique balance in the creation of Allah Almighty. Everything has a good and just purpose, and objective, nothing is without a good purpose. Allah said in the surah Al-Mulk verses 3 and 4, their translation is:

3. (HE) Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in the creations of the Most Beneficent. Then look again: "Can you see any rifts?"

Another translation of the same verse is:

(67:3) Who created the seven heavens one upon another.⁶ You will see no incongruity in the Merciful One's creation.⁷ Turn your vision again, can you see any flaw?⁸

The Exp. notes are:

6. For explanation, see( E.N. 34 of Surah Al-Baqarah); ( E.N. 2 of Surah Ar-Raad); ( E.N. 8 of Surah Al-Hijr); ( E.N. 113 of Surah Al-Hajj); (E.N. 15 of Surah Al-Muminoon); (E.N. 5 of Surah As-Saaffat); (E.N. 90 of Surah Al-Mumin).

7. Literally, tafawut is disproportion: two things being out of accord and in disagreement with each other. So, the divine words mean: You will not see any indiscipline, any disorder and discordance anywhere in the universe, there is nothing disjointed and out of proportion in this world created by Allah: all its parts are well connected and in perfect harmony and coordination.

8. The word futoor means a crack, rift, fissure, or a thing’s being split and broken. The verse means to say that the whole universe is so closely well-knit and everything in it, from a particle on the earth to the huge galaxies, so well connected and coherent that the continuity of the system of the universe seems to break nowhere, however hard one may try to probe and investigate. (For further explanation, see (E.N. 8 of Surah Qaf).

The verse 4 of the surah Al-Mulk, (English translation):

(67:4) Then turn your vision again, and then again; in the end your vision will come back to you, worn out and frustrated.

The Al-Hakeem Allah also gave wisdom to HIS servants. In the surah yousuf Allah said:

(12:22) And when Joseph reached the age of maturity, We granted him judgement and knowledge.²⁰ Thus do We reward those who do good.

Exp. note 20:

20. By the use of such words as the Quran usually means, We bestowed on him Prophethood, for the Arabic word hukmun stands for both judgment and authority and ilmun stands for that knowledge which is directly revealed to the Prophets by Allah. Thus, the Arabic words of the text will mean: We gave him the power and the authority and the knowledge needed for judging rightly the affairs of the people.

About Dawood alaihi salaam, Allah said in the surah Sad verse 20:

(38:20) And We strengthened his kingdom and endowed him with wisdom and decisive judgement.²⁰

Exp. note 20:

20. That is, he was never ambiguous in speech but clear and forthright. Whatever problem he talked about he would lay bare its basic points, and would clearly and precisely determine the real issue under question, and would pass a decisive judgment.” This quality is not attained by a person unless he is granted wisdom, understanding and mastery of language of the highest degree.

Similarly Allah said in surah Luqmaan that Allah gave wisdom to Luqmaan. Luqmaan was not a prophet but he was a God-fearing Muslim. He gave very good advice to his son and Allah revealed it in the Holy Quraan, for our understanding. Allah is Shaakirun-Aleem, Allah gives great respect to every righteous persom, Alhamdulillah!!!

Thus Allah is Al-Hakeem, HE created the Whole universe with Hikmah (Wisdom) and balance so that everything is in its proper place and proportion. Then Allah gave wisdom to the human beings to bring lots of good to humanity. Allah said in surah Al-Baqrah verse 269:

269. He grants Hikmah to whom He pleases, and he, to whom Hikmah is granted, is indeed granted abundant good. But none remember (will receive admonition) except men of understanding.

In the Holy Quraan the name “Al-Hakeem” comes with other Attributes of Allah as:

In surah Al-Baqarah 32 it comes with Aleem (Innaka antal-Aleemul-Hakeem):

32. They (angels) said: "Glory be to You, we have no knowledge except what you have taught us. Verily, it is You, the All-Knower, the All-Wise."

In surah Al-An’aam 18 it comes with the Khabeer (Al-Hakeemul- Khabeer):

18. And He is the Irresistible, above His slaves, and He is the All-Wise, Well-Acquainted with all things.

There are many such verses; the above-mentioned are only two examples. We must pray to Allah to give us wisdom as Allah had given to Luqmaan. We must also try to adopt the way of hikmah (wisdom) while speaking and working.

Al-Wadood (The Loving One)

It is said that this beautiful name of Allah Almighty came twice in the verses of the Holy Quraan. Their translation is:

Surah Houd 90;

90. "And ask forgiveness of your Lord and turn unto Him in repentance. Verily, my Lord is Most Merciful, Most Loving."

Surah Al-Burooj 13—14;

13. Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.

14. And He is the Forgiving, the Loving,

Allah is the ONE WHO loves HIS Prophets, HIS Messengers (alaihim salaam ) and also loves the followers of the Prophets (alaihim salaam). They, all, also love Allah more than anything and their hearts are full of the love for Allah Almighty. The followers of the Prophet (salla Allaho alaihi wa sallam) whom Allah loves are called Awliya-Allah. They are those practicing believers who really support the Deen of Allah. They repent to Allah again and again and are humble in front of Allah. They are not unique people. Any practicing believer can be wali-Allah. Then it is also the principle of Allah that Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala places the love of such good person in the hearts of other people. Allah said in Surah Maryam verse 96 (here is the English translation only):

96. Lo! those who believe and do good works, the Beneficent will appoint for them love.

Also there is a hadeeth in which the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) told us that:

“If Allah loves a person, Allah says to Jibreel alaihi salaam that I love this person, you should love him too. Then Jibreel alaihi salaam also loves him. Then it is announced in the heaven that Allah loves that person, so you all love him. Thus all of the angels also start loving him. Then this love is given to the people on the earth so that all people on the land start loving that person”.

Another hadeeth which is Al-Hadeeth Al-Qudsee informs us about the saying of Allah as:

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Allah the Exalted has said: 'I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved thing with which My slave comes nearer to Me is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (prayer or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him. When I love him I become his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks (something) from Me, I give him, and if he asks My Protection (refuge), I protect him".

The above-mentioned hadeeth Al-Qudsee is fully understandable. ( Allaho-Akbar). A wali-Allah is loved by Allah but he/she also does everything for the pleasure of Allah, he/she discards all of the personal desires that go against the Will and Command of Allah. So he/ she knows that Allah loves the obedient ones, the mo’mineen (practicing believers) and muttaqeen (the God-fearing believers), the patients and those putting their trust on Allah, the repenting and the piouse ones, the truthful and well-behaving ones. Also he/ she knows that Allah does not love the cruel, the wicked, the rejecters of the Faith, the transgressors, the mischief-makers, the arrogant, the treacherous, unfaithful traitors etc. So a wali-Allah will do all that Allah is pleased with and will abstain from everything that Allah forbids. He/she will love the Holy Quraan, the Prophets alaihim salaam and the Final Messenger Muhammad salla Allaho alaihi wa sallam and His Sunnah to get the Love of Allah Almighty. Allah said in the surah Aali-Imran verse 31, (its English translation is):

31. Say (O Muhammad SAW to mankind): "If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Quran and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

There is a du’aa (supplication) of Muhammad Rasoolullah (salla Allaho alaihi wa sallam) reported in the Masnad Ahmad and Jaama’ Al-Tirmizee, its translation is:

Doaa
اللهم إني أسألك حبك وحب من يحبك وحب كل عمل يقربني إلى حبك.. "

O Allah , I ask You for Your love and the love of the one who loves you and the love of all the work that brings me closer to your love .."

Al-Majeed (The Majestic One)

Al-Majeed is the Great Name of Allah Almighty mentioned in the following verses of the Holy Qur’aan. The translation of the verses of Surah Hood 73 and surah Al-Burooj 14—15 is:

Surah Hood (Hud) 73:

73. They said: "Do you wonder at the Decree of Allah? The Mercy of Allah and His Blessings be on you, O the family [of Ibrahim (Abraham)]. Surely, He (Allah) is All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious."

When the angels gave good news to Ibraheem alaihi salaam and his wife about the birth of their son Is-haaq alaihi salaam and then his son Yaqoob alaihi salaam while they were very old, the wife of Ibraheem alaihi salaam was struck with wonder, so the angels said the words mentioned in this verse. For more understanding, see the verses 69 ----73.

Surah Al-burooj 14—15:

14. And He is the Forgiving, the Loving,

15. Owner of the throne, the Glorious

Its meaning is great, high and vast from all excellent points of view. In short, a servant cannot explain it in his/her words. Allah is the Absolute Owner and Lord of all Honor, Nobility, Glory and Dignity. Allah’s Majesty is manifest in HIS creation. There are numerous signs of the Glory and Majesty of Allah in the universe, we pass on them day and night so it is our duty to humble ourselves in the presence of Allah All-Mighty and celebrate HIS praises as well as worship only HIM (Allah).

Allah’s Majj’d (Glory and Dignity) is repeatedly mentioned in the Holy Quraan. Rather the Holy Quraan is a Book of the Tamjeed (Great Nobility) and Ta’zeem (Great Honor) of Allah All-Mighty. Most of Allah’s verses are full of the beautiful names of Allah. We can take three examples.

1. Surah Al-Faatihah,

2. Aayatul-Kursee,

3. Surah Al-Ikhlaas.

1. Surah Al-Faatiha:

According to a hadeeth narrated by Abu Hurairah rAa, (reported in the Saheeh Muslim), the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) said that Allah says:

“I divided the Al-Faatihah into two halves between ME and MY worshipper and for My worshipper is that what he asks for. When the servant/worshipper says, ‘Alhamdu-lillahi Rabbil- aalameen’, Allah says, ‘MY servant has praised ME’. When the servant says, ‘Al-Rahmaani-Al-Raheem’. Allah says, ‘MY servant has celebrated MY praises’. And when the servant says, ‘Maliki Yawmid-Deen’. Allah says, ‘MY servant has dignified ME’. When he (the servant) says, ‘iyyaka na’budu wa iyyaka nasta’een’. Allah says, this is between ME and MY servant’ and for MY servant is that what he asks for’. And when he says, ‘ihdina Siratal-Mustaqeema, siratalladheena an’amta alaihim ghairil-maghdoobi alaihim wa la-addaaleen’. Allah says, ‘This is for MY servant and for MY servant is that what he asked for’.

In fact the whole prayer contains the Glory and Dignity for Allah the Greatest. In the bowing and prostrations Allah’s Greatness and Honor is praised. When we sit (in the qa’idah) we end it by the saying, innaka Hameedun-Majeed. Thus we start our prayers with hamd wa tamjeed and finish it with the same.

2. The Aayatul-Kursee is the highest of the verses in the Holy Quraan. It has 5 of the beautiful names of Allah, and has more than 20 great qualities of Allah. It has great safety and security for us by the Will of Allah. So we must recite it 3---7 times in the morning and evening for our safety and security. It has got special servants to help the reciter in time of danger.

3. Surah Al-Ikhlaas. This surah gives the Absolute ONENESS of Allah and due to the Great Qualities of Allah mentioned in this short surah, it has a reward for the reciter, which is equal to the one-third of the Holy Quraan.

We must remember Allah all time. This must be in addition to our obligatory and non-obligatory prayers. According to a hadeeth shareef of the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) angels go around in search of those who do dhikar (remember Allah). They pass by some people who say, “Subhaan-Allahi wa Alhamdulillahi wa laa ilaha illa-Allaho wa Allaho Akbar”. The angels take that dhikar to the heaven and report to Allah All-Mighty. Allah asks them, “Have they seen ME?”
The angels reply, “No”. Then Allah asks the angels, “What if they had seen ME?” The angels reply, “then they would be more active in your worship”. Allah says, “Alright, be witnesses that I have forgiven them”.

Al-Ba’ith (pronounced as Al-Ba-ice)

This name has a few meanings which, I will try to explain by those verses of the Holy Quraan in which these are revealed.

1. Allah is the ONE Who shall resurrect all people.

Surah Al-Hajj, 7 (the translation is):

7. And surely, the Hour is coming, there is no doubt about it, and certainly, Allah will resurrect those who are in the graves.

As we see in this verse 7 of the surah Al-Hajj, the name Ba’ith means the ONE WHO will resurrect all people from their graves. So one meaning of this beautiful name is The Resurrecter.

Allah also said in surah Al-Aadiyaat verse 9 ( Its translation is):

9. Knows he not that when the contents of the graves are brought out and poured forth (all mankind is resurrected).

10. And the secrets in the chests (hearts ) are made known,

Again that resurrection shall be very swift as Allah said in the verse 51 of the surah Yaseen, its translation is:

51. The trumpet shall be blown, when behold! from the graves (men) will rush forth to their Lord!

And then the unbelievers will wonder saying:

52. They will say, "O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?" [The reply will be], "This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth."

Surah Al-Ma’arij, 43:
43. The Day when they will come out of the graves quickly as racing to a goal,

They will be racing to the Mahshar (the field of gathering) from where the unbelievers and the sinners shall be admitted to the Fire.

2. Another meaning of Al-Ba’ith is related with “sending” i.e. The ONE WHO sent a Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) to every nation. Muhammad salla Allaho alaihi wa sallam was sent to this nation of ours which extends till the end of the world. This meaning of the Attribute comes in the following verses, (their translation is):

Surah Al-Nahl, 36;

36. For We assuredly sent amongst every People a messenger, (with the Command), "Serve Allah, and keep away from Taghut (all false dieties)": of the People were some whom Allah guided, and some on whom error became inevitably (established). So travel through the earth, and see, what was the end of those who denied (the Truth).

Surh Al-Nahl, 89;

89. And (remember) the Day when We shall raise up from every nation a witness against them from amongst themselves. And We shall bring you (O Muhammad SAW) as a witness against these. And We have sent down to you the Book (the Quran) as explaining all things, a guidance, a mercy, and glad tidings for those who have submitted themselves (to Allah as Muslims).

Allah has already sent Prophets alaihim salaam to every nation and on the Day of Judgment the same Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) shall be raised to witness against the disbelievers of his nation. Then Muhammad salla Allaho alaihi wasallam shall be brought as witness against our Ummah. A similar verse is also revealed in surah Al-Nisaa. In the commentary of this verse I read that one day a companion was reciting the surah to Muhammad salla Allaho alaihi wasallam. When he recited this verse, the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) started weeping and advised the companion to stop recitation. [That is the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) on remembering the occasion on the Day of Judgment when He will be brought to witness against the disbelievers and sinners of His Ummah, became so grieved that He started weeping and couldn’t hear anymore due to His grief for the Ummah.]

Unfortunately, the Ummah is now very much careless and carefree of that very Hard Day!!!

3. A 3^rd meaning of the Attribute is to raise from sleep. See the translation of surah Al-An’am verse 60;

60. It is He, Who takes your souls by night (when you are asleep), and has knowledge of all that you have done by day, then he raises (wakes) you up again that a term appointed (your life period) be fulfilled, then in the end unto Him will be your return. Then He will inform you what you used to do.

Thus Allah is The Ba’ith, WHO shall resurrect us all, and has sent the Prophets alaihim salaam to all nations, shall bring every Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) as witness against the infidels of his nation, and also gives us life after every sleeping period.

Al-Shaheed (pronounced as Ash-Shaheed)

(It means The Witness.)

This beautiful name of Allah came in several places in the Holy Quraan. Some of them are surah Al-burooj 9, Al-Nisaa 79, and Al-Hajj 17. Their translation is given in the following:

Surah Al-Burooj 9;

9.Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things.

Surah Al-Nisaa (An-Nisaa) 79;

79. Whatever good, (O man!) happens to you, is from Allah; but whatever evil happens to you, is from your (own) soul. and We have sent you (O Muhammad)as a messenger to (instruct) mankind. And enough is Allah for a witness.

Surah Al-Hajj 17;

17. Verily, those who believe (in Allah and in His Messenger Muhammad SAW), and those who are Jews, and the Sabians, and the Christians, and the Magians, and those who worship others besides Allah, truly, Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection. Verily! Allah is Witness over all things.

The meaning of Ash-Shaheed is that Allah is aware of everything and nothing is hidden from HIM. Allah hears all sounds and voices loud and whisper/hidden and sees everything big or small, minute or microscopic! And Allah has the knowledge of every action of the servants which may become as a proof in favor of/or against the servants.

Surah Taha

67. And Moses conceived a fear in his mind.

68. We (Allah) said: "Fear not! Surely, you will have the upper hand.

69. And throw what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted. What they have crafted is but the trick of a magician, and the magician will not succeed wherever he is."

These verses are about the story of Musa (Moses ) alaihi salaam and pharaoh. When Pharaoh had called the magicians to defeat Musa alaihi salaam, the magicians threw their sticks and ropes in the field and due to their magic on the eyes of the people, all sticks and ropes appeared as snakes. So Musa alaihi salaam, being a human being feared in his heart/mind. Allah All-Mighty saw his fear and did inspiration to him not to fear!

Thus Allah is Shaheed on what is inside our minds!!!

Surah Al-Fath verse 15:

15. Those who lagged behind (will say), when ye (are free to) march and take booty (in war): "Permit us to follow you." They wish to change Allah's decree: Say: "Not thus will ye follow us: Allah has already declared (this) beforehand": then they will say, "But ye are jealous of us." Nay, but little do they understand (such things).

Another translation of the same verse is:

15. Those who remained behind will say when you set out toward the war booty to take it, "Let us follow you." They wish to change the words of Allah . Say, "Never will you follow us. Thus did Allah say before." So they will say, "Rather, you envy us." But [in fact]they were not understanding except a little.

We can see that Allah All-Mighty gave the future news about the hypocrites to Muhammad salla Allaho alaihi wa sallam.

Surah Fussilat (Hameem Al-Sajdah) 40:

40. Verily those who pervert the Truth in Our verses are not hidden from Us. So, is he who is cast into the Fire better or he who comes secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do whatever you will. Verily! He is All-Seer of what you do (this is a severe threat to the disbelievers and sinners).

Allah sees, hears, and knows everything and every action of all creatures and therefore Allah is Witness to everything hidden or in the open, external or internal inside our hearts and minds. Then Allah is the Owner of All Power, so it is very easy for Allah to reward or punish. Therefore, the only way of safety for us is to obey and worship Allah with humbleness.

Al-Haqq (The Truth)

According to the book of the beautiful names of Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala, this name came in the verses of the Holy Quraan at ten places. The translation of some of those verses is:

Surah Younus, 31--- 32;

31. (10:31) Ask them: 'Who provides you with sustenance out of the heavens and the earth? Who holds mastery over your hearing and sight? Who brings forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living? Who governs all affairs of the universe?' They will surely say: 'Allah.' Tell them: 'Will you, then, not shun (going against reality)?"

32. (10:32) Such, then, is Allah, your true Lord.³⁸ And what is there after truth but error? How, then, are you being turned away?³⁹

Exp. note 38:

38. That is, as you yourselves admit that Allah alone is your real Provider, Owner and Master, He alone is your true Lord, and, therefore, entitled to your servitude and worship. How have you, then, made others as partners with Him?

Exp. note 39:

39. It should be kept in mind that these questions have been posed to the common people: therefore they are not being asked, “How are you turning away?” but “How are you turned away” The passive voice clearly shows that there must be some person (or persons) who was turning away the people from the right direction to the wrong one. That is why this appeal is being made to the people: Why are you blindly following those who are misguiding you? Why don’t you use your own common sense? When you yourselves admit the truth about Allah, why don’t you consider the fact that you are being turned away from Him?

This question has been posed at many places in the Quran to bring home the truth to the common people, but at every place the passive voice has been employed in order to keep back the names of the misguiding ones so that their followers should consider the matter coolly and objectively. This also contains a valuable piece of advice for those engaged in propagation work. By avoiding the names of the misguiding ones, the Quran has taken away a very strong weapon from the hands of those, who could otherwise incite the followers that their revered leaders were being made the target of ridicule and criticism.

Surah Al-Hajj, 61--62;

(22:61) So shall it be¹⁰⁶ because it is Allah Who causes the night to emerge out of the day and causes the day¹⁰⁷ to emerge out of the night and Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.¹⁰⁸

Exp. notes 106--108

106. “That is” (as stated in the preceding paragraph) because Allah is the Ruler of the universe and has the power to give punishments and rewards to those who deserve them.

107. The fact that “Allah causes.........night” is a proof that He is the Master, Sovereign and Ruler of the universe. But the deeper meaning of the verse is that Allah, Who is able to bring forth the light of the day out of the darkness of the night, has the power to bring out the light of the truth out of the darkness of disbelief and ignorance, and the light of justice out of the darkness of tyranny.

108. He hears everything and sees everything and is not unaware of anything.

(22:62) So shall it be because Allah, He is the Truth, and all whom they invoke instead of Him are false.¹⁰⁹ Allah is Most High, All-Great.

Exp. note 109:

109. As Allah is in fact the Sovereign of the universe, His worshipers will surely attain true success and the worshipers of false gods will meet with utter failure.

Surah Al-Mo’minoon, 115 and116;

(23:115) Did you imagine that We created you without any purpose,¹⁰² and that you will not be brought back to Us?"

(23:116) So, exalted is Allah,¹⁰³ the True King! There is no god but He, the Lord of the Noble Throne.

Exp. note 103:

103. Allah is above this that He should create you without any purpose and that you may associate partners with Him with impunity.

(23:117) He who invokes any other god along with Allah " one for whom he has no evidence"¹⁰⁴ his reckoning is with his Lord alone.¹⁰⁵ Indeed, these unbelievers shall not prosper.¹⁰⁶

Exp. notes 104---105:

104. It may also be translated as: The one who invokes any other deity along with Allah, has nothing to support him in this act.

105. That is, he cannot escape accountability.

The name Al-Haqq means that Allah is the Absolute Truth, there is no doubt in Allah’s existence, nor in Allah’s names and attributes. There is no doubt in Allah’s God-Hood. Thus only Allah is the True God. There is no God besides Allah. Allah is the Truth, His names and Qualities are the Truth, His Words and Actions are truth, HIS Commands and Laws (HIS Deen) are Truth, His Messengers were all the Truth and so on.

The verses mentioned above along with their exp. notes make it very clear that in reality, only Allah is the Creator of all, the Sovereign of all, the Cherisher, the Provider, the Owner of all power, the Giver of death and life, the Giver of harm and profit and the Acceptor of supplication, is only Allah. When we, in states of restlessness, pray to God, then it is only HE (Allah) WHO accepts our prayers and removes our trouble. Then surely it is and it must be only Allah WHO deserves our worship. So we must worship none except Allah, and must obey Allah and HIS Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him). If not then we are surely returning unto Him and we will face the accounting in Allah’s Court. For us there is no way of escape from Allah’s Justice! And Allah’s punishment for the unbelievers and disobedient servants is very severe and lasting!!!

Al-Wakeel (The Trustee, the Best Disposer of affairs)

Some of the verses in which this beautiful name of Allah is revealed, their translation is:

Surah Aali-Imraan 173;

173. Those (i.e. believers) unto whom the people (hypocrites) said, "Verily, the people (pagans) have gathered against you (a great army), therefore, fear them." But it (only) increased them in Faith, and they said: "Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)."

Surah Al-Isra 2;

2. And We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel (saying): "Take not other than Me as (your) Wakil (Protector, Lord, or Disposer of your affairs, etc).

Surah Al-Muzzammil, 9;

9. (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs).

The meaning of Al-Wakeel as The Trustee and the Disposer of affairs, are in general and in particular. The general meaning appear in the following verses:

Surah Al-An’aam, 102:

102. Such is Allah, your Lord! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Creator of all things. So worship Him (Alone), and He is the Wakil (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian, etc.) over all things.

Surah Hood, 12:

12. Perchance thou mayest (feel the inclination) to give up a part of what is revealed unto thee, and thy heart feeleth straitened lest they say, "Why is not a treasure sent down unto him, or why does not an angel come down with him?" But thou art there only to warn! It is Allah that arrangeth all affairs!

In general it means that Allah is The ONE WHO manages for the sustenance of all creatures and gives them strength. Also Allah manages all the affairs of everything and everyone in the universe.

In particular sense it means as comes in the following verses:

Surah Al-Nisaa (An-Nisaa), 81:

81. They have "Obedience" on their lips; but when they leave thee, a section of them Meditate all night on things very different from what thou tellest them. But Allah records their nightly (plots): So keep clear of them, and put thy trust in Allah, and enough is Allah as a disposer of affairs.

Surah Aali-Imraan 173:

173. Those (i.e. believers) unto whom the people (hypocrites) said, "Verily, the people (pagans) have gathered against you (a great army), therefore, fear them." But it (only) increased them in Faith, and they said: "Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)."

The meaning is clear from the above-mentioned - verses. It is very particular for those practicing believers who put their trust in Allah Almighty. Then if they trust Allah for their safety, Allah will save and protect them. If they turn to Allah in supplications for help in some trouble, Allah will help them and will solve their problems. They will take the means as Allah wants us to take the means. But they will not trust the means, rather they will pray to Allah and put their trust in Allah alone.

We can see that in the verse 81 of surah An-Nisaa there is the case of the Messenger Muhammad salla Allaho alaihi wa Sallam with the hypocrites. In the verse 173 of surah Aali-Imraan the case is that of the companions (strong practicing believers) with the hypocrites. In both these cases Allah gave special Help to the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) and His companions against the hypocrites because the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) and His companions always trusted Allah and left their problems to be solved by Allah. They certainly tried with proper means but their trust was only on Allah Almighty.

Allah Almighty gives great reward to the believers who put their trust on Allah. Also Allah warned against putting our trust in someone other than Allah as is the Command in Surah Isra 2:

2. And We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel (saying): "Take not other than Me as (your) Wakil (Protector, Lord, or Disposer of your affairs, etc).

There is a hadeeth of the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) in Abu Dawood and Tirmizee. Narrated by Anas bin Malik rAa that the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) said:

فقد قال أبو داود في سننه(5095): حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْخَثْعَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " إِذَا خَرَجَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ فَقَالَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ، قَالَ: يُقَالُ حِينَئِذٍ: هُدِيتَ، وَكُفِيتَ، وَوُقِيتَ، فَتَتَنَحَّى لَهُ الشَّيَاطِينُ، فَيَقُولُ لَهُ شَيْطَانٌ آخَرُ: كَيْفَ لَكَ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ هُدِيَ وَكُفِيَ وَوُقِيَ؟ "

Translation:

Abu Daoud said in his Sunan (5095): …… Narrated Anas Ibn Malik, that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "If the man came out of his house and he said; ‘With the name of Allah, I put my trust in Allah, there is no power except with Allah’, he (the Messenger ) said, “then it is said”: “hudeet wa kufeet wa wuqeet (got guided, sufficed and protected)”, “So Satans are withdrawn from him, then another devil says, “How will you deal with a man who is guided, sufficed and protected?”

This Hadeeth clearly means that when a Muslim leaves his house with the above mentioned words, he puts his trust in Allah, then Allah guides him right, Allah is sufficient to help him and Allah protects him so much so that even Satan is retired from him and devils cannot mislead him in any way.

173. Those (i.e. believers) unto whom the people (hypocrites) said, "Verily, the people (pagans) have gathered against you (a great army), therefore, fear them." But it (only) increased them in Faith, and they said: "Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)."

Surah Al-Isra 2;

2. And We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel (saying): "Take not other than Me as (your) Wakil (Protector, Lord, or Disposer of your affairs, etc).

Surah Al-Muzzammil, 9;

9. (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs).

The meaning of Al-Wakeel as The Trustee and the Disposer of affairs, are in general and in particular. The general meaning appear in the following verses:

Surah Al-An’aam, 102:

102. Such is Allah, your Lord! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Creator of all things. So worship Him (Alone), and He is the Wakil (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian, etc.) over all things.

Surah Hood, 12:

12. Perchance thou mayest (feel the inclination) to give up a part of what is revealed unto thee, and thy heart feeleth straitened lest they say, "Why is not a treasure sent down unto him, or why does not an angel come down with him?" But thou art there only to warn! It is Allah that arrangeth all affairs!

In general it means that Allah is The ONE WHO manages for the sustenance of all creatures and gives them strength. Also Allah manages all the affairs of everything and everyone in the universe.

In particular sense it means as comes in the following verses:

Surah Al-Nisaa (An-Nisaa), 81:

81. They have "Obedience" on their lips; but when they leave thee, a section of them Meditate all night on things very different from what thou tellest them. But Allah records their nightly (plots): So keep clear of them, and put thy trust in Allah, and enough is Allah as a disposer of affairs.

Surah Aali-Imraan 173:

173. Those (i.e. believers) unto whom the people (hypocrites) said, "Verily, the people (pagans) have gathered against you (a great army), therefore, fear them." But it (only) increased them in Faith, and they said: "Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)."

The meaning is clear from the above-mentioned - verses. It is very particular for those practicing believers who put their trust in Allah Almighty. Then if they trust Allah for their safety, Allah will save and protect them. If they turn to Allah in supplications for help in some trouble, Allah will help them and will solve their problems. They will take the means as Allah wants us to take the means. But they will not trust the means, rather they will pray to Allah and put their trust in Allah alone.

We can see that in the verse 81 of surah An-Nisaa there is the case of the Messenger Muhammad salla Allaho alaihi wa Sallam with the hypocrites. In the verse 173 of surah Aali-Imraan the case is that of the companions (strong practicing believers) with the hypocrites. In both these cases Allah gave special Help to the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) and His companions against the hypocrites because the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) and His companions always trusted Allah and left their problems to be solved by Allah. They certainly tried with proper means but their trust was only on Allah Almighty.

Allah Almighty gives great reward to the believers who put their trust on Allah. Also Allah warned against putting our trust in someone other than Allah as is the Command in Surah Isra 2:

2. And We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel (saying): "Take not other than Me as (your) Wakil (Protector, Lord, or Disposer of your affairs, etc).

There is a hadeeth of the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) in Abu Dawood and Tirmizee. Narrated by Anas bin Malik rAa that the Prophet (Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) said:

Translation:

Abu Daoud said in his Sunan (5095): …… Narrated Anas Ibn Malik, that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "If the man came out of his house and he said; ‘With the name of Allah, I put my trust in Allah, there is no power except with Allah’, he (the Messenger ) said, “then it is said”: “hudeet wa kufeet wa wuqeet (got guided, sufficed and protected)”, “So Satans are withdrawn from him, then another devil says, “How will you deal with a man who is guided, sufficed and protected?”

This Hadeeth clearly means that when a Muslim leaves his house with the above mentioned words, he puts his trust in Allah, then Allah guides him right, Allah is sufficient to help him and Allah protects him so much so that even Satan is retired from him and devils cannot mislead him in any way.

Al-Qawiyyun(ThePossessor of all Power and strength),

Al-Mateen (The Forceful and Firm)

The beautiful name Al-Qawiyy came in the Holy Quraan inseveral places. The translation of some of those verses is:

Surah Al-Shura (Ash-Shura), 19;

19. Allah is very Gracious and Kind to His slaves. Hegives provisions to whom He wills. And He is the All-Strong, the All-Mighty.

Surah Al-Mujaadila 21:

21. Allah has decreed: "Verily! Itis I and My Messengers who shall be the victorious." Verily, Allah isAll-Powerful, All-Mighty.

Surah Hood (surah Hud) 66:

66. So when Our Commandment came, Wesaved Salih (Saleh) and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us, andfrom the disgrace of that Day. Verily, your Lord, He is the All-Strong, theAll-Mighty.

The beautiful name Al-Mateen came in one place, that issurah Al-Dhariyaat 58, its translation is:

58. Lo! Allah! He it is that giveth livelihood, the Lordof unbreakable might.

The two names are explained together as these together meanthe ever-lasting and unbreaking Power and Force of Allah Almighty. AlsoAl-Mateen means Shadeedul- Quwwah i.e. Allah is extremely Powerful.

The ‘Al-Mateen” is very well explained on you tube. Ashistory proves, Power was and is given to many nations. Although it is not theabsolute power but mankind considers it to be very great power. For example,now great power is seen in the air in the form of very strong airplanes andspace ships etc. But none of them are given the mataana i.e. firmness in thepower. when strong wind or any type ofstorm comes the strong planes cannot fly and so the power is broken. In thepast such strong powerful nations lived on this earth that no one could believetheir end. But their power ultimately ended. So mataana is not given to anyone inthis world. It is only Allah who is the Qawwiyyun- Mateen i.e. extremelypowerful and Firm in Power. So Allah’s Power and Strength never ends, even itnever decreases. The two names came together in the Holy Quraan to inform usthat Allah’s absolutely extreme Power and Strength is firm and lastingforever!!!

The meaning of Al-Qawiyy is that nothing can make Allahhumble in any field. Whatever is ordained by Allah shall happen; no one canstop it from happening. Allah honors whomever Allah wants, and humiliateswhomever HE wills. Allah gives kingdom to whomever HE wills and takes kingdomfrom whomever HE wills. No one can change or overcome Allah’s Commands. Allahsaid in surah Aali-Imraan 160, its translation is:

160. If Allah is your helper none can overcome you, and ifHe withdraw His help from you, who is there who can help you after Him? InAllah let believers put their trust.

Surah Al-Baqarah 165, Its translation is:

165. And of mankind are some who take(for worship) others besides Allah as rivals (to Allah). They love them as they(should)love Allah. But those who believe, love Allah more (than anything else). Ifonly, those who do wrong could see, when they will see the torment, that allpower belongs to Allah and that Allah is Severe in punishment.

Think about the wrath of Allah, one jolt of earthquake breaks huge buildings into pieces! Thunder storm,floods and many other kinds were the causes of destruction of disobedient humanbeings. The nation of Aad was utterly destroyed by strong wind that blewcontinuously for 8 days and 7 nights. The Thamood nation was killed by horriblethundering sound. The homosexual nation of the Prophet Loot (Allah's Peace andBlessings be upon him) was killed by a rain of stones.

Again let us see Allah’s Help to HIS Prophets alaihim salaam: A drypath was made for Musa (Moses ) alaihi salaam and his followers in the middleof the sea/ocean. Water was standing as mountains on the two side of the drypath. Musa alaihi salaam and the Muslims with him passed safely then Pharaohand his army entered the path. Then by Allah’s Command, the two bodies of waterreunited and Pharaoh and his army got drowned. There are many such examples inthe Holy Quraan. Allah said in surah Al-Hajj verse 40:

Translation;

40.Those who have been expelled fromtheir homes unjustly only because they said: "Our Lord is Allah." -For had it not been that Allah checks one set of people by means of another,monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, wherein the Name of Allah ismentioned much would surely have been pulled down. Verily, Allah will helpthose who help His (Cause). Truly, Allah is All-Strong,All-Mighty.

In front of our eyes the proof of Allah’ Power and Strength is thepresence of the heaven and the earth along with the huge storage f water in theform of oceans and rivers. We can see the water remaining inside the ocean andleaving the people nearby to live with comfort, but when Allah’s Anger comesdue to the rebellion of the people, the same water changes into hurricane todestroy the thankless, disobedient human beings.

We must fear Allah, must worship and obey HIM and must pray for HISMercy and Forgiveness.
