Ramadan Reminders: Day Seventeen
Although it is very common, Ramadan is really not the time to tweet photos or update Facebook statuses about how much khushoo’ you felt and how the words of Allah are piercing your heart. Let’s keep that between us and Allah and replace the time spent on social media with the Book of Allah

It’s a scam to sleep through Dhuhr or Asr in Ramadan, then exhaust yourself in Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers. This is so common when it comes to the end of ramadan especially on the 27th Night.-
These are all signs that the outwardly appearances have hijacked our lives. Be Careful. Remember, a single obligation/fard is superior to standing at night for all of Ramadan.

One Whole Year of Fasting! Subhan'Allah
Scholars have explained that it is like observing a year of fasting because the reward of one’s good deeds are multiplied tenfold.
Therefore fasting the month of Ramadan is like fasting for ten months and fasting six days in the month of Shawwâl is like fasting for two months since each day will be rewarded was 10 days.
It is related from Thawbân that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“The fast of Ramadan is like observing ten months of fasting. Fasting six days of Shawwâl is like observing two months of fasting. This together is like fasting throughout the year.” (Sunan al-Nasâ'î)

Things we were into few days ago..
1) Fasting the longest and hottest days of the year which brought another unique challenge of reduced sleep time.
2) Praying a staggering 40 units of Ṣalāh, which increased to nearly 50 in the last ten. That is the total of all the obligatory, highly recommended and night prayers in a day.
3) Consistently reading around 20 pages of Qur’ān or even more a day to finish it within the month.
4) Conscientiously holding back on the impulse to sin and misbehave.
These are just some of the achievements we were making just a few days ago.
We were not given new bodies, new abilities or new lives.
That was us then and our memories of it should act as a mirror showing us what we can be outside of Ramadān.
Ponder.
Reflect.
Change.

“And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.”
Surah Baqarah | Verse 216
In this Qur’anic Verse, there are several judgments, meanings and benefits for the servant. If the servant knows that misfortune can produce a desirable thing, and that the desirable thing can produce a misfortune, he would not feel secure against the harm that can come from delight, and he would not lose hope of delight to come from harm, for he does not know the outcomes of things. Verily, it is Allah Who knows about that which the servant does not know. www.lionofAllah.com
