    Speaker Any deaf Muslims.

    Report bad ads?

    Salaam everyone there.

I am born deaf Muslim, I came to this website, because I was hoping that there would be other Muslims with hearing impaired here, so i started this thread.

I kinda feel bad that deaf muslims are not even getting any awareness. Having searched on google about deafness in islam, there aren't really much disucssion about it.

so I kinda want to talk a bit with my brothers here.

What kind of support is needed? Is there sufficient Islaamic materials e.g. study guides, videos? - and/or any other type of support?

    Walaikumasalaam

How are you doing? I hope you are well insha Allah. It is lovely to have you on board.

I am not deaf but i know people close to me who are hard of hearing. I don't think it should define you as a person.

Think of all the nonsense you don't need to hear

What do you need help with or do you just want to talk to fellow Muslims who share the same struggle as you?

May Allah swt make it easy for you Ameen.

    Re: Any deaf Muslims.

    السلام علیکم

I don't have much knowledge about cochlear

A cursory search brings up the 'Webmd' site which explains 'Cochlear' :

"...If you're very hard of hearing or deaf, a cochlear implant may help you get back the sounds you miss.

It isn't a hearing aid, which makes sounds louder. It’s a small device that a doctor puts in your ear through surgery. It sends impulses directly to your auditory nerve, which carries sound signals to your brain. [...]

"...How does a cochlear implant work?

It's for children and adults with sensorineural hearing loss. That condition typically involves damage to tiny hair cells in a part of your inner ear called the cochlea. These hair cells usually pick up the vibrations of sounds and send them to the brain through the auditory nerve. When they’re damaged, sound can't reach that nerve. A cochlear implant skips the damaged hair cells and sends signals to the auditory nerve directly.

The devices have two parts. One part, the receiver-stimulator, is placed under your skin through surgery. The other, the speech processor, you wear behind your ear like a hearing aid. The outside part is slightly larger than a normal behind-the-ear hearing aid...."

Thanks for letting me know that I am getting some support here, well, Almighty Allah knows best,

I was curious about deafness In Islam and how they view about it,

We have to know that Islaam liberates man. It brings him out from the dark depths of disbelief and brings him into the Light of Emaan. It does away with the irrational types of discrimination.

We are able to look back - for inspiration - to the examples of the early Muslims. The loyalty, love and and care they had for each other for the sake of Allaah , the One who is alone truly worthy of our worship.

How the blind, slaves - and others - were treated as Brothers in Faith. Each would willingly fight shoulder to shoulder with his Muslim brother - be he Arab, Habashee, Persian, Roman (having a disability or otherwise - refer to the example of Abdullaah Ibn Umm Maktoom - May Allaah be Pleased with him) .

How the blind could lead the Salaah. Or take the exqmple of the slave who was regarded/treated as sub-human by the Mushrikeen at the time - In Islaam, the same slave was freed and made equal - look to the example of Bilaal ibn Raba (May Allaah be Pleased with him)

Now, coming to our times. How much of the early Muslims is evident in us? What do we do/can we do for our Muslim brothers & sisters with various disabilities?

    Supporting Muslims With Disabilities

I propose we use this thread (with your approval) or start another thread. The purpose being to enable the support fellow Muslims with disabilities/conditions .
This may be done by e.g. preparing sample letters that can be used to contact e.g. Islaamic material publishers/developers/suppliers , Masaajids/Islaamic Centres. Also, by putting together points which may then be raised with the local Imaam/Masjid (in person).

Questions can be put to them such as - Do they cater for the disabled?Do they have plans to do so? Have they considered dedicating a Jum'ah khutbah (Friday sermon) to the issue?

The thread can be used to leave e.g. ideas, responses from those contacted , links to material catering for the disabled and so on

To start things off - some major publishers have been contacted.
One of them being 'IIPH' , May Allaah bless them with khayr, who have responded very quickly.

IIPH stated that (1) It intends to produce books (catering for disabilities) in the future Insha-Allaah (2) Plans postponed due to financial constraints (3) Du'aa requested that Allaah improves their situation so they can work on these critical projects (4) Put forward any ideas/suggestions/insights, type of books/products which may help our brothers/sisters .

Responses have not been received from others (yet).

What is your thought on the above? Ive found very little for disabled Muslims ( some videos, articles about the need to support maybe) - maybe out there but not enough. I hope the moderators can offer some thoughts and possibly support the above insha-Allaah. And Allaah Knows Best.

    Re: Any deaf Muslims.

    السلام عليكم

Is it possible that deaf people can try to be hafiz?
"...The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “The one who is skilled in reciting Qur’an will be with the noble, honourable scribes and the one who recites Qur’an and falters therein, and finds it difficult, will have a double reward.”

    Narrated by al-Bukhaari (4937) and Muslim (798).

An-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

The one who falters is the one who stumbles in his recitation because of his poor memorisation. He will have a double reward: the reward for reciting and the reward for faltering in his recitation and the difficulty he encounters. End quote. ..." (Islamqa)

Take as an example a person who is deaf but can read English. The Qur'aanic verses can be given in transliteration form such as:

    Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi

    Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena

    Salaam brother,

I think that any of deaf people can be hafiz if Allah wills it, since they seem to be intelligent people, since deaf people won't able to hear any unwanted sounds which wont disturb them. This is blessing from Almighty Allah Who is Most Merciful, normal people may find deafness painful, but it may have hidden blessing. being hafiz really needs lot of time. Any disabled people whether blind or deaf, would become hafiz when Allah wills it. Because He can do anything. Therefore they should try memorizing the Quran, if they feel that they can, in Sha Allah. it will be worth it with alot of rewards awaiting for them...

    JazakAllah.

What is the meaning of this quranic verse? From 4:95

Not equal are those believers remaining [at home] - other than the disabled - and the mujahideen, [who strive and fight] in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred the mujahideen through their wealth and their lives over those who remain [behind], by degrees. And to both Allah has promised the best [reward]. But Allah has preferred the mujahideen over those who remain [behind] with a great reward -

    Salaam..

In all of my daily prayers, instead of reciting quran I praise Allah through my mind. Is that alright? Since I cannot speak . So I cant recite Quran. Though reciting quran through mind might seem good. But my mind can be messed up sometime . So instead I praise Allah ... is this okay? Islam is easy religion ...

May Allah bless you and your families.
