    Caliphate question!

    Report bad ads?

    السلام عليكم ورحمةالله وبركاته
I dont know if anyone knows anything about this, but theres a hadith in sahih bukhari which says caliphate will remain among quraish even if two persons are left on earth. So how come ottomon empire had caliphate when they were turks? I didnt get this.

"It has been narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: The Caliphate will remain among the Quraish even if only two persons are left (on the earth)(4476, sahih bukhari)."

    Re: Caliphate question!

well i dont know this hadith.Jzk khair i learnt smth new.Who said ottoman empire was a caliphate? I am not knowledgeable in history but i never came across a ''ottoman caliphate'' by non muslim historians.Ottoman empire being a caliphate i only started to hear it from ertugrul fans getting overexcited over a series and closing their eyes to the reality.Yes they were muslims to some extent, but from my knowledge the first caliphs were elected. They didnt pass the title to their sons, they were given bayiah, they ruled with sharia law and followed the Quran and Sunnah. They were from the best of people.

While the ottoman emperors passed their titles to their sons. They had 'harems',places where hundreds of enslaved women would stay live with their only purpose in life would be to be chosen to please the emperor one night,in other words,'intimacy slaves'.They would kill their brothers to secure the throne, look up ''fratricide in ottoman empire''.They would take children of the subjected rulers to ensure they would stay subjected. In their times churches would be destroyed or turned into mosques and places of shirk, tekkes, were built. Not to mention then the way they did war.One can continue but i guess this is enough. These people would not even come close to the toe of a muslim caliph.Ertugrul fans and social media scholars can call it caliphate but all i see is disgust

Mehmed II - Of any of my sons that ascends the throne, it is acceptable for him to kill his brothers for the common benefit of the people

yeah right.A calipha would do such things.Anyway this is my opinion.I could be wrong though, but in shaa Allah i am not.

    Re: Caliphate question!

Non muslims would do anything to defame them. But there was a caliphate associated with ottomon empire. Setting aside the ertugrul series, ertugrul was a part of ottomon empire i guess and he was a great warrior. And okay we dont take the example of ottomon empire, then what about salah uddin ayyubi? He was a caliph as well but wasnt from quresh most probably. Thats what makes it confusing..

Lol what caliphate. Ertugrul was ok but not a caliph and mostly were disgusting people let alone caliphs.Anyway not gonna be angry cuz of them. Abassid caliphate still existed at the time of saladin as even though i love him he wasnt a caliph too. There can only be one caliph at a time

    Re: Caliphate question!

Ottoman Empire was just an empire, not caliphate. You can't call a person caliph who's never getting married and instead uses women from other religions, mostly Orthodox for sexual pleasures, nor a person who kidnaps male children from Christians and then when mature send them against their fathers and brothers. That's not a caliph!!!

    Re: Caliphate question!

But i have heard many times that there was a caliphate till 1924(which was ottomons rule of course), and this isnt said by any person, its said by scholars, and not just any scholar, but the scholars of truth! I wont believe those things which u are telling me about ottomons, not because i am siding with them but because these things are told by non muslim historians or just muslims(not by mu'min who has observed these). Anyway i dont want to go in argument, but for example, i heard a lecture where the shaykh was saying that there was a caliphate till 1924 and there are chances that something similar will happen in around 2024 because Allah send a person or a group to revive islam every 100 years( hadith). But obviously ALLAH KNOWS BEST!

    _______________
Okay even islam qa uses the word "ottomon caliphate"

    Re: Caliphate question!

We lived both in balkans, we know it ourselves not from hearing others but ourselves. My grand grandpa was a jannissairy and he was taken by force. Anyway scholars can say anything there was a guy in saudi that was saying earth is flat. That doesnt make it true, they dont have knowledge of everything.
The man who revives islam every 100 years doesnt have anything to do with calipha.
Do you know that imams who study in turkey shave their beards with razor? Just an ordinary example how they revived islam.

But anyway suppose they were caliphate and the hadith is saheeh then we have a contradiction either the scholars are wrong or the hadith is wrong which astagfirullah is not so the scholars were wrong in my opinion,IF the ottoman empire can even be called caliphate. Anyway Allahu Alem

    Re: Caliphate question!

No, the hadith isnt interpreted correctly by anyone.... Because there can be others who are caliphs. Theres a similar hadith explanation of which is here...
    https://islamqa.info/en/146316

And about the caliphate one... That ottomon was caliphate , there are points in this one..
    https://islamqa.info/en/answers/9243...n-for-its-fall

All the scholars of truth cannot be wrong at the same time!

    _________
Lets leave it here. Its history anyway and its not gonna affect our imaan if we consider them good or bad. But in sha Allah, lets try to revive the caliphate. Least we can do is try to call people towards truth at individual level, so we can live in an islamic society in sha Allah.
