today a dear friend of my father's passed away. he was in afghanistan working for the british army. please can you make dua 4 him as he was a good man and also muslim:

    Tributes to dead British soldiers

The two men died in a grenade attack by Taleban militants
Two British soldiers killed during operations in Afghanistan have been named as Cpl Peter Thorpe and L/Cpl Jabron Hashmi.
Cpl Thorpe, 27, of the Royal Signals, was from Cumbria, and L/Cpl Hashmi, 24, of the Intelligence Corps, attached to the Royal Signals, was from Birmingham.

The two men died on Saturday when a rocket-propelled grenade struck the regional headquarters in Sangin.

Reinforcements would be sent to the region if needed, Downing Street said.

The deaths mean five UK troops have been killed in the volatile Helmand province in the past three weeks in clashes with Taleban militants.

His enthusiasm for the role he had been given was simply outstanding

    Tribute to L/Cpl Jabron Hashmi

Both men had been serving with 3rd Para Battlegroup. Four other soldiers injured in the attack are expected to make recoveries.

They had served at the army base in Brawdy, Pembrokeshire, for the past six months.

Cpl Thorpe, who lived in Barrow-in-Furness joined the army in 1995 as an apprentice tradesman.

He went on to complete his communications training before being posted to 216 Parachute Signal Squadron in the 5th Airborne Brigade.

He completed his first tour of Afghanistan in 2001 before being posted to Northern Ireland. He returned to Afghanistan earlier this year.

More than 3,000 British soldiers are serving in Afghanistan

His commanding officer said Cpl Thorpe had been "tremendously popular".

"A gifted instructor, he had acquired a huge range of military skills and qualifications and was happiest when passing on this knowledge.

"He had recently been selected for promotion to Sergeant and was keen to work in an Army Training Regiment."

    'Fine young man'

L/Cpl Hashmi joined the army in 2004 and was posted to the Royal Signals in January.

His commanding officer Lt Col Steve Vickery described L/Cpl Hashmi as "enthusiastic, confident and immensely popular".

"His enthusiasm for the role he had been given was simply outstanding.

"Once deployed in Helmand Province, his skills proved vital in support of the 3 Para Battlegroup, providing protection for his comrades in the highly demanding working conditions of Southern Afghanistan.

"A fine young man, his sad loss and that of Corporal Thorpe will be felt by us all."

His family described him as a cheeky, confident and outgoing young man.

In a statement they said: "Jabron wanted to join the British army as a young boy growing up in Pakistan. He was proud of his role as a serving soldier and looked forward to his deployment in Afghanistan.

"He felt privileged to represent the Army as a Muslim British Pakistani who wanted to use his background and position to contribute at a time where there exists a lack of understanding of cultures, ideologies and religious identities."
