    Hadith about not being Extreme

    The Prophet (SAW) said:

"Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded."

Re: Hadith about not being Extreme

inshallah I will provide something else valuable to the issue under discusion

Indeed, ya ikhwaan wal ikhwaat, all praise is to Allah, Allah has warned us against falling into ghuloo (extremism) in which He, the most high said

“and if you had been severe and harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you” suraatul-Alai-Imraan (3:159)

Likewise there are numerous ahadeeths which indicate us to follow a balanced way, a way of rifq and not a way of severity and harshness.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said "Make matters easy and do not make them difficult, give glad tidings and do not make people averse," Recorded by Bukhari and Muslim on the authority of Anas.

Bukhari records on the authority of Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to his Companions after the Bedouin Arab had urinated in the Masjid, "Let him be, and pour a bucket - or a large bucket - of water over it, for you have been sent to make matters easy and not to make matters difficult."

Bukhari records on the authority of 'A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "'A'ishah, Allah is gentle and loves gentleness in all matters."
Muslim also records the hadith with the wording, "'A'ishah, Allah is gentle and loves gentleness in all matters. He gives in return for gentleness what He does not give in return for harshness, or for anything else."

Muslim records on the authority of 'A'ishah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him said, "Gentleness does not enter anything except that it beautifies it and harshness does not enter anything except that it disfigures it."

Muslim records on the authority of Jarir bin 'Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him said, "Whoever is deprived of gentleness is deprived of good."

Indded; Islam is a religion of balance. Nothing is too much or too less. It is a religion of justice; the criminal is punished justly for his sinn, and bribary is neither accepted; nor is the innocent punished. A religion of peace; everyone gives salam; to start and finish off . . . Alhamdulillah . . .

Re: Hadith about not being Extreme

    Great topics brothers and sisters,

Moderation in Islam is very important.

Allah (Exalted is He) said in Surah Al-Baqara:
Thus have We made of you a just (and the best) nation, justly balanced

Abu Hurairah narrated that he heard Allâh’s Messenger saying, "The good deeds of any person will not make him enter Paradise. (i.e., None can enter Paradise through his good deeds.)” They (the Prophet’s companions) said, "Not even you, O Allâh’s Messenger?” He said, "Not even myself, unless Allâh bestows His favor and mercy on me.” So be moderate in your religious deeds and do the deeds that are within your ability: and none of you should wish for death, for if he is a good doer, he may increase his good deeds, and if he is an evil doer, he may repent to Allâh.” (Bukhari 7/577)

Re: Hadith about not being Extreme

    Salam Aleykom,

Mashallah, this is a beautiful topic. Alhamdullilah that you brothers and sisters lead a balanced muslim way of life. Religion is not a difficult, burdensome thing. One of the purposes of religion is to bring ease into the lives of its followers. Here are some paragraphs I copied from this website:
    http://www.nabulsi1.com/text/english...oderation.html

In Islam Moderation means excellence, goodness, and distinction in both spiritual and material matters. The best bead of a necklace is the middle one; the chief of a people is always in the middle with the followers around him. Concerning spiritual matters, Moderation is better than extremism; and it has been rightly said: “the best thing is the middle” and “virtue is in the middle between two vices”. In explanation of Allah’s Words Ibn Katheer said, “Thus, we have made you a moderate nation”, the word Moderate here means better and more perfect, as it is said: ‘Quraish is the most moderate ancestry among the Arabs’, which means the best. The Prophet (Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was in the middle among his people, i.e. the noblest one among them. Also, the middle prayer is the best prayer.

Islam has intellectual, spiritual, and behavioral aspects. When one of these aspects grows extraordinarily, usually at the expense of other aspects, then the result will be Extremism. But when these three aspects grow naturally and equally, in such a way that no one aspect dominates the others, then Excellence will be the result. We look forward to excellence not to extremism.

Moderation also represents safety and keeping away from danger, as edges and ends are usually exposed to danger and corruption, contrary to the middle which is protected and preserved by the things around it. Moderation is security and stability, but extremism is excessiveness, deviation, and corruption.

    Jazakum Allah Khair

    Walaykum As Salam.
